A true family run catering business started in the early 90's that I remember from my days living in Bend beginning in the late 90's, they came to the rescue for my brother and his wife who arrived in Bend late on December 23 to spend time with my elderly dad who is at home with caregivers when they needed a holiday dinner that they weren't going to want to cook. They ordered the holiday meal for six, example menus linked here https://bendcatering.com/catering/holidays/, had someone pick it up for them the afternoon of the 23rd and when the meal was served on Christmas day it amply fed not only the six people planned but there was ample amount to feed three more who dropped in. Leftovers for the next day too. Everyone enjoyed every item from ham and turkey through sides and pies ordered (add on) for dessert. Cody's Country Catering (the Yelp header says Country Catering but Cody's has been part of the name for as long as I remember), also does weddings, family reunions, business meetings and other events and has luncheon menus in addition to dinner fare. I've never given one star before and I feel terrible about it. I'm tempted to give two stars just because I'm reviewing one solo experience with this place. But, I felt even worse after attending a function that had this restaurant do their catering. It was just not good. At all. I didn't get sick, I just couldn't believe the quality of the food. Sliced sausage links in a watery barbeque sauce. Rolled ham and sliced cheese. Plain white buns and tubs of mayo to make sandwiches with. Chicken wings that looked to be sparrow wings (they were so small) seasoned with just pepper. Even the pasta salad with fresh broccoli was lacking any form of seasoning. Everything was served in plastic disposable bowls which just added to the cheapness factor. Maybe lunch at the restaurant is better than their catering. All I know is that we went out to eat afterward because we were starving. read more

Went in and grabbed some take out sandwiches. The famous tri-tip and a grilled chicken. Both very large, nice amount of meat served on French rolls. Both of us could only eat half! Very , very good! Sandwiches served with a side that is about 3 tablespoon sized. The potato salad was really tasty but the macaroni salad was too sweet for me. Customer choice, next time I would try something else instead of Mac salad. Small to medium sized dining area. Super friendly service. Lots of beverages to choose from, both bottled and on tap. Loved walking to counter and seeing all the freshly BBQ meat in the warmer!! A friend told us about this place after they saved the day by helping with a high school sports team awards banquet. We love to support locals who support our community. Went for lunch. My wife rarely has a sandwich. Ordered the spicy tri tip. Comes on a French roll. Best sandwich she has ever had. It is now high on our list of places for take out when we don't feel like cooking. This is a real BBQ. Meat is cooked outside on a wood fired smoker. There were 4 of us and we all tried something different. The pulled pork and pulled tri-tip were both excellent. The pulled pork had that sweet carmalized glaze that comes from slow cooking on a wood smoker. Everything was very well done. We were looking for a caterer for my daughters wedding. I had a hot and spicy sandwich that I though barely had any tri tip on it but a lot of bread. For the sandwich to taste better it really needed more grub in it especially for the price. Also the salads that went with it were had too much mayonaise for my taste. I do remember having a sandwich there in the past that tasted much better so it could be that this particular sandwich didn't suit my fancy. Country Catering's mediocre food quality is even less satisfying over the sound of the management screaming (yes, literally screaming) at their employees. First of all, I own and operate two businesses; I'm fully aware that employees need to be reprimanded from time to time, but it gets done privately and away from customers. My business colleagues and I were absolutely speechless during the unprofessional display of complete lack of self-control on the part of the owners, management or whomever was in charge and delivering the tirade. This place is great!!! Stopped today for lunch. Craving some sort of bbq or sandwich and honestly didn't know what to expect . This place delivers! I had an excellent tri tip sandwich that came with a side of potato salad and I wanted to try the cole slaw as well. Tri tip is cooked perfectly and the sandwich is delicious. Nice sides as well. I'll be back to explore more of what the Menu offers that's for sure. One last thing, I really liked the atmosphere. This is for the Deli. Food was OK but frankly there was very little meat on the sandwiches. What meat there was was just smothered in a sweet BBQ sauce. Quality was OK, not terrible but not great. Not a good value for the money by any means. With so many good places to eat in Bend you might want to go elsewhere. I was too lazy to BBQ for my house warming party (40 people) so Cody's did smoked tri-tip, pulled pork and all the classic sides for a slider buffet for me! EVERYONE at my party raved about how great the food was and went back for seconds. The rolls were soft and fresh. The baked beans were off the charts. The Country Catering Company holds some of my fondest memories of a good friend of mine, the late Greg King. Many years prior to moving to Bend with my family eleven years ago, Greg and I would come down to Bend to fly fish the Deschutes River during the salmon fly hatch. Every year the company that we chartered would serve BBQ Tri Tip half way down the river between Warm Springs and Trout Creek. Needless to say, the Tri Tip was some of the best I have ever had. I was first introduced to Country Catering Company and I quote "The Home of the famous Tri Tip Sandwich" on 3rd tucked in the back of a gas station over a decade ago. Now they have a very nice location on 9th and Wilson and serve a variety of BBQ meats including their own BBQ sauce and rubs. You will find the locals hang out here at least once a week. We have lived in Bend 11 years and today was the first day trying Country Catering. I thought it was good! I had the Reuben and potato salad. The sandwich was tasty as was the salad...my husband had the tri tip sandwich and although there wasn't a ton of meat on it, it was tasty..the salsa was a refreshing touch on the sandwich. One daughter got the rib plate and the other got a burger. Both dishes looked great and both daughters said everything tasted good. I like the display case with different salads to choose from. Some reviewers said the service wasnt good, but we didnt have that problem! We had the roasted chicken family dinner for $23.95. Here's what we thought: The Good: -The chicken was really excellent -the fruit salad was good, but very expensive (bought it as an extra side-- thought they said $5.59, but it was actually $9.59) -the staff was super friendly The Bad: -the potatoes au gratin were very mushy, smelled strange and tasted bad-- it wasn't just the fact that they tasted like they'd been under a heat lamp all day-- they actually had a sour taste -the mac & cheese was... just like the potatoes au gratin! Literally, they looked and tasted very similar-- old, mushy, off tasting. -the cornbread was somewhat tasteless, with a slight hint of old peppers If I could do it again, I'd get the roasted chicken again, with a side of fruit salad and maybe potato salad, since others have said that's good. read more

We had Country Catering cater an event at our home for over 50 people. Cory made the entire experience not only seamless, but delicious! From the ribs to the chicken, the wonderful corn and potato salads, the baked beans (best ever) and all the way to the dessert, everything was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. We swung by Country Catering for a late Saturday lunch. It was a good experience and I expect we'll be back soon. We both had sandwiches. The bbq tri-tip was really tasty and I loved the soft roll it was served on. The sausage special was decent, but was a bit lackluster flavor-wise compared to the tri-tip; my partner ended up slathering it in extra bbq sauce. The sides, as mentioned below, were a small serving, but with the size of the sandwiches made for a filling meal. Being able to choose whatever salad looked good from the deli case was great. I loved the broccoli-bacon salad, my partner's pesto pasta salad was fine, but nothing special. Both indoor and outdoor seating was available, and it was a pleasant place to sit down for a bite. They were an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the entire process and the food was EXCELLENT! We had a tasting before and thought it was wonderful, but it was even better at our event! They have great dinner meals that have portion sizes so you know how many people it will feed. Good quality BBQ and a great staff to put it all together. I was very very disappointed. It's really nothing special at all. I went in for the all you can eat Friday dinner. They had pulled BBQ meat, & chicken legs $ thighs. It was mostly fat and boned, no meat. Potato salad was warm and tasted like mayo, the beans were way too spicy, the rice (rice with BBQ? Sounds like and extra filler) was very bland and dry. There was flies all over the buffet. Gross. And finally, the service way just downright rude and unwelcoming. When I ordered my food the guy behind the counter asked what I wanted to drink. When we got there the owner was very rude to myself and many other people in the group, the teri chix was over sauced both bbq beef flavors were boring, the meat was dry and then when I ordered a my drink I was told "you had to Pay for it " in a very curt manner; beverages were to be provided for the group and paid for by the company all together at the end from my understanding. I've lived here 25 years and I can say that all the locals do eat here. Best BBQ in Bend - wood fired. My friend always has the Tri-Tip sandwich which he loves. I usually have BBQ smoked chicken with a salad. They have tri-tip, ribs, chicken, pork - all really good. Everything is really fresh.
