Completely missed the mark. Trying to understand what could have been the challenges the one employee was dealing with when I visited so maybe I could cut them some slack, but coming up clueless as to what it may have been. Maybe whatever she was looking at on her cell phone in between orders was a distraction?? Basically nobody there so they weren't slammed with orders. Pretty straightforward order, so seems easy enough to get it right. Ordered a patty melt with fries. Burger tasted like it had been precooked and kept under a warmer...dry and flavorless. Realized several bites in that she spaced adding the aioli. Fries were lukewarm and stale-again apparent they were not freshly made. Chef it pains me that this meal cost $20, but I get it..,everything is expensive these days! That's why it's really important that you do your part by delivering on a quality meal that is prepared accurately and with fresh ingredients. The food was very basic. I got the burger, my gf got the cheesesteak. Both the burger and the cheesesteak had a lemon aioli...which did not go at all with the meal, kind of ruined what would have been an 'Ok' experience. If management reads this...I'd suggest doing a burger sauce, or maybe like a garlic aioli. read more

Rogue Chef is one of the more highly regarded food trucks in the Bend area. They have a reputation for putting out good food. Currently parked at The Bite in Tumalo. - Fish n chips (special): well-prepared if a bit greasy. Fries (chips) are the thin variety and also well prepared. Love the dipping sauce. - Burger, basic: Solid burger, well cooked, tasty. The bun is OK. Not the best burger in Bend but maybe the best from a truck. All in all, I agree with the consensus on Rogue- good stuff. The Bite is not one of my preferred food truck pods however. read more

I came to the "Bite" not knowing what I was looking for to eat. Saw the Rogue Chef and asked the cook to "hook me up". What I got to my surprise was the best hamburger since the 1980's at Staniche's ten to one. His home made mayonnaise and other ingredients were so well in harmony with the beef Patty that my tastebuds were "slayed"! Definitely worth the surprise of a trip to the Bite. BTW I have to mention the tap beer choices here with the oblivion blonde accompanying that burger without overpowering the flavors. Another good week end day here in Central Or. read more

Wouldn't go here again. Ordered a cheeseburger and was handed a bun and a patty, none of what was in the description; no onion, lettuce, tomato, or aioli. Went back to tell them it was missing and they grabbed the burger already partially eaten and just slapped it on. I would have been fine with the mistake if it weren't for the fact the two girls working were very obviously distracted and just chatting instead of paying attention to their customers and apparently the food they were making. Good food good drink. Strange to have black pepper on a burger everything else was great. The burger was very pink inside and yet... no after issues. Fries were tasty and just the right soft and crunch with whatever sauce was on there. Good service, the buzzers are so quiet and the vibrators are very soft. The lights work. No matter where you put it, I put it in my pocket and couldn't see hear or feel it. I liked the fire out front in the courtyard and yet it was a hot day. Well we ordered food to go since it receives decent reviews but when we got our food, it was absolutely disgusting and our two entrees were inedible. I'm not a chef by any means but this stuff I wouldn't feed my farm animals. It was bad. When we called to talk to them about the food issues they were rude and basically told me I'm burnt. So that's as a waste of $50. Here is the wife's "chicken club" and my "BLT" with one piece of bacon and a huge wet pile of tomatoes making the bun super soggy. Fish and chips w/garlic fries were awesome! Tartar sauce had a special spice/taste... best tartar I have ever had. Fish were very good. And I am a sucker for garlic fries. These ones delivered. Hot and crispy with the perfect amount of garlic. They had loads of good looking stuff on the menu, but (unfortunately) we were just passing through and stopped for lunch. read more

Being a big fan of the perfect food- burgers, I've had a lot of great burgers in the Rogue Valley... And I have my favorites known as the 'baburger triangle'... The top 3 burgers in the RV are as followed, to the south there is Sammich, to the west you have Back Porch Barbeque and to the north hails the king of the RV burgers, Jaspers... Within the triangle you can find a lot of great burger joints, but I believe I have found my new favorite within the triangle and the new #4 burger on my list for the RV- The Rogue Chef! Toasted brioche bun, house cured peppered bacon, house made garlic aioli, fresh veggies... Do I have your attention yet? The beef is wagyu, juicy, flavorful and the patty was just the right size... It came with perfectly seasoned fries accompanied by homemade ketchup and/or ranch dressing... I called 5 minutes ahead @ 11:00 am and my burger was just being finished when I arrived... The Rogue Chef is a mobile food cart, so you need to locate them before just showing up (although they do have a semi-permanent location now in Talent)... They do have a little makeshift seating area, but I needed some alone time with this delicious burger, so I opted to devour it in my own vehicle... Now the downside, these guys are extremely busy with catering events, so they can be hard to hit at the perfect time... My advice is to hit them up when you see them and not wait for the next day when they might not be at their location (I made that mistake for way too long)... The price range is hardly under $10, but that's probably the actual value. Seriously lacking condiments, top bun is completely dry and barely a layer of some white looking substance on the bottom. And you'd think for the prices they charge they wouldn't be so stingy about giving you ketchup for french fries. But no, they provide none, you have to go back and ask. And even then, it's two tiny containers that are inadequate to make up for the dry bun, let alone anywhere near adequate for the garlic fries. read more

We love the Rogue Chef food carts. The California burger is a limited offer in tumalo, my husband loved it! We usually get the bacon burger. We noticed lots of inconsistencies over the last year. Missing things from our orders. Like bacon on the bacon burger.. the garlic on the garlic fries. Or a really burnt patty. The make of the burger has changed. Sometimes it's great, and sometimes it's not. I give them 3 stars because I know how hard it is to have staff over the last 1.5 year. They are doing a great job hanging in there! I love the Bite food truck court in a Tumalo. I want this place to do well. That being said, the food at the Rogue Chef is overall too dry. The burgers basically don't drip anything, and the fries leave behind no grease. They really, really need to lube up their food. More sauce on the burgers please! Less time on the grill. Pickles would be a really nice touch. The fries need more oil AND a fry sauce. Especially considering they charge as much as a brick and mortar restaurant with table service, I'm definitely wanting more from these guys. read more

I was just really disappointed with the fish and chips. They tasted like Gordon's frozen fish to me and lacked spice. The fries looked great, but they were not great. McDonald's makes better fries. $15 is way too much for this blah food. I will stick with Ronan's when I visit The Bite from now on. read more

After waiting a half hour for my food I went up to the counter to see what the problem was. I watched the till operator handle cards and money before he moved over and started handling my food with bare hands. I had decided to get over this and I would just eat the meat but my fries were cold. This is not ok at any time- especially not during a pandemic! Then the chef came up and asked me the problem and wanted to argue with me about their food handling- all while the person who just handled the money was standing next to him holding the next persons bun in his bare hands!!! The Rogue Chef was parked in Talent near the organic coffee shop, just around the corner from Brammo. I gave it try and it was very good. I asked for an Everything burger, with no bun and no fries due to avoiding carbs on a ketogenic eating plan. The mushrooms were exceptional and the bacon was peppered and delicious. The Burger itself was pretty good, but I think it might be a preformed patty, so it was not the texture you normally see from a hand built patty. Overall - very good, very tasty and great service. I was really excited to try The Rogue Chef because several people I know always talk about how amazing it is and I love trying new food trucks. Maybe I just happened to drop by at a bad time, but my experience was very disappointing. After looking over the menu I went up to order the pulled pork sandwich but was told that they were out of pulled pork. Alright no worries, so I order the BLT with avocado. Well they were out of avocado too. How could they be out of everything by noon? So finally I settle for the BLT with a fried egg, and my husband ordered the everything burger. We waited maybe about 20 minutes for our food, kind of a long time but no big deal. We take our food home open the boxes and the food looks delicious, but as we dig in everything just crumbles and falls apart. My husbands bun was super mushy, the lettuce in my sandwich was skimpy and soggy, the tomato was stringy and minimal, SO MUCH BACON, we had to take out a few pieces because it was really overpowering, but maybe some people like it that way. My husband was only able to eat a few bites of his burger before giving up. I ate most of my sandwich because the taste was not bad, but in the end i was just piling up pieces on a chunk of bread. The flavor was VERY savory and very heavy, I felt a little yucky afterward. The fries had a good texture, just the right amount of crunch but doused in so much salt! You could see the salt crystals all over each and every fry. I felt like I needed to chug a bottle of water after eating. All in all, if you're into really heavy, savory, salty foods then I think you'll like this place. The portion sizes were large so you do get your moneys worth.
