I was at the podski and sad bc Americana had run out of gf buns so my friends said- get Valentines! I ordered on their website and chatted with my friends till pickup time when I crossed the street and skipped the long line going out the door They use the Franz sourdough which I like. I'm not sure why I ever gave this place a 4-star rating when it obviously deserves a 5-star rating. It sold a few years ago and I swear it's even better than before. The Simple Tom and Peppersteak have been my go-to's over the years. I had part of my son's leftover Albuquerque sandwich the other day and had to order a fresh one today. It's so good! Deli was excellent. I got the peppersteak which was really good. Bread is fresh, sandwich was very cheesy. Sandwiches are big. The cow-abunga was also really good. Main issue is that they're only open 11-2 M-F which is a little ridiculous, main reason for the 4 stars. Outdoor seating is nice. read more

Stopped in for lunch with the family since it's my most favorite place to get my most favorite sandwich in the world. Excellent Cowabunga roast beef sandwich as usual. The flavor combination, the toasted hoagie roll and the best ingredients make each bite amazing. Everyone else enjoyed their sandwiches too and the pastrami was a family favorite with the shared bites we sampled. Going back if we can before we leave town! Highly recommend. oh my GOD, expensive but just a fantastic sandwich- worth it! order at the counter and sit wherever while you wait for your food, lots of outdoor seating options and they bring it right back to you- my friend (who lives in the area) is a frequenter and a huge fan. we split the cow-whatever-its-called and a riff off of the hot italian that the gal who tool our order recommended to us! we took ours to eat at a park, but don't wait too long- the bread is soft and fantastic but it's definitely suscpetible to getting soggy if you wait too long cuz those sandwiches are SAUCED UP! read more

Just get in line! These guys use high-quality ingredients in combinations you would not come up with yourself. Order one of their special sandwiches and don't even ask what's on it. The rolls are so good we asked to buy some! I would be happy eating their sandwiches inside a dumpster, but the shop is cozy and comfortable. We will be back every time we visit Bend. What an amazing deli! The crew here were some of the nicest, funniest people you could meet it town! We had lunch there the day before we had to fly home and mentioned that it sure would be nice to grad some Sammies for our flight but we had to leave before they opened, the manager overheard us talking and asked what time we had to leave and offered to make us sandwiches before they opened. I called the next morning before they opened and he answered, we ordered 2 more ranch hand sandwiches and he had them ready in 10 minutes!! This is the place for a great sandwich and the perfect cup or bowl of soup! Yes indeed! I am so happy I found this wonderful funky deli. I had the 1/2 tuna sandwich and this marvelous soup with green chiles tomatillos pork and hominy! My sandwich was piled high with tuna, bacon, avocado, tomato, lettuce and Tillamok cheddar....and to top it off was served on Sparrow bakery bread! The price was right, the service was great, the food was excellent....These people know how to make a hungry person happy. My friend who was with me ordered the Italian sandwich and was equally pleased, already spreading the word to her friends in eastern oregon (yes we drove 3 hours to get here) that this was where she was going to take them the next time she was in town! They have no non-sandwich deli items, so Valentine's really isn't a deli - more a straight up sandwich shop. Fast casual- order at the counter, food comes to you. - Santa Fe turkey: excellent sandwich; good sourdough; nice mix of ingredients. - Pastrami: OK, but not nearly as good as the Santa Fe. If you love pastrami sandwiches, you'll probably be disappointed with Valentine's version. The bread is the weakest part. No soda fountain; canned/bottled drinks only. Nice folks, reasonable prices, good seating (including sidewalk tables), relatively quiet ambiance (they play music but it's not terribly annoying). A-OK. read more
