My husband and I tried this place today and it was excellent. I was skeptical going in. I grew up in Chicago and have had the best corned beef sandwiches in Chicago and NYC. This place is equal to and they put their own twist on it too! Their food stands up to the best. I had the corned beef and my husband had the classic reuben. The sandwiches were large. We only were able to eat half. We also ordered the latkes and lox to take home with us. Both were amazing! The staff is awesome! From the minute we walked in, the staff was very friendly and helpful. You can tell they love where they work. The owner stopped and talked with us. I watched him stop at every table. He brought us to go boxes and I watched him pitching by bringing food out and whatever needed to be done. Anyone that complains about the food, price or the bread, they don't know what their food is about and do not value the hard work and dedication that goes in to the food they create. First of all, you have to order, and tip for high priced food before you receive it. They bring you the food, and you have to get up to get your own silverware. You order a lox bagel and it's a mini-bagel (joke.... we laughed) and it costs $16 plus a tip on top. If you order a dinner meal, there are NO sides, not even a few lettuce leaves... The ONLY good thing about this place is the bar man. He is a good human, cares about customers and comes across genuine to me. I would go back for the cocktails. But for $100 plus.... for few meals and two drinks is really bad. One was only an appetizer meal not a real meal. New sandwich shop/market in Old Mill District. Cute place but way too over-priced for what it is. Ordered the Rotisserie Chicken "Big Salad" and Italian Sandwich with potato salad. Both were good and I loved that the salad had beets on it. The sandwiches come with pickles on the side and they have a "half sour" and a "full sour". I absolutely love pickles and have never come across a pickle I didn't like until these. The full sour just tasted weird and had a bad flavor and the half sour just tasted like a soggy cucumber. The soft serve was average typical soft serve. I chose to add berry sauce but other options they had were hot fudge (would've gotten but they were out), balsamic glaze, a magic shell, EVOO, or smoked salt. Went back today to try the Pastrami Reuben and the Rachel. Both were huge and messy to eat but delicious. Contrary to my expectations, I think I prefer the Corned Beef Reuben to the Pastrami version. I also spoke to the owner and got the story on the pickle. Each sandwich is supposed to be served with a half-sour and a full-sour spear. They ran out of the full-sour when were there and pivoted to serving the pickled pepper in lieu of the full sour. Really disappointed with Stacks Deli. It feels like they're trying way too hard to be a "cool" deli but completely miss the mark. They load on a ridiculous amount of meat to make up for the fact that the flavors just aren't good -- more isn't better when it tastes bad. Do NOT get the smoked turkey, it's genuinely gross. The pickle on the side was basically a soggy cucumber. The whole ordering and seating system makes zero sense (you order at the counter but can't sit until you get a number, yet someone still seats you?), and the manager doing the seating was straight-up rude. I was honestly shocked that the owners of such a well done restaurant like Zydeco could have possibly put this place together! From the outdoor line and crowded entry where people are trying to Leave but it's bottlenecked at the entry so it's hard to get out, to the inefficient ordering process, to the prices, to the food! 22 bucks for a corned beef on rye, rye with no seeds, bread was very small, lots of meat but it was very out of balance, to the tiny spears of dill pickles that didn't even taste of dill!! It really was one of the worst dining experiences I've had! I've never done a review on Yelp but I honestly had to say something I used to work in a " real" deli and this had no resemblance to that. Best pastrami Reuben I have ever had, and I have had many over the years. The pastrami was perfectly tender with just the right amount of smoky flavor, piled high without being overwhelming. The sauerkraut had a great tang that balanced the richness of the meat, and the Swiss was melted just right. The bread was toasted beautifully, crisp on the outside and warm and soft inside, holding everything together without getting soggy. You can tell they care about quality and details. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. If you love a true deli style Reuben done right, this is the one to order. I will absolutely be back for another. read more

Not sure this place can be called a "New York Style Deli" as advertised. It is basically just another over priced sandwich shop. Having pastrami on the menu and a couple of small pickles does not make one and if you do serve pastrami, it better be piled high 3" thick with meat! I had an Italian sandwich hoping it would be stacked with traditional italian meats, it was a basic italian sandwich that was just ok, (there is much better out there) but the olive mix on top was a welcome addition. My friend ordered the lox and bagel appetizer and the bagel was a tiny one and the sauce was a lemon crema, which was tasty, but not traditional. I've been to this place twice, and I do have to say the food is good. It has a great outdoor set up for my grandkids which they really enjoy going there. It has a great family atmosphere. The only thing I would say is that the wait time is very long and I ordered a bowl that was supposed to include dates and it did not have them in it. Everywhere you go nowadays to eat out is very expensive. Your groceries also cost more. It's the reality and why I eat out less. I found the atmosphere pleasant, service very good and friendly. It's clean and I like not having to clear my place. Very thick sandwich with lots of turkey on a hoagie so I ate a half and then removed the bread for the other half. I could have split it easily. Potato salad was authentic east coast. I don't like pickles so I can't speak to those. Mocktail was refreshing. Wasn't too noisy. Nice not to have to deal with downtown parking. Very disappointed. First of all $24 with no side or at least chips. Bread was lousy. The sandwich was so soggy. Couldn't eat as a sandwich but used a fork. Go for a denser marbled rye or the like.
