We ordered chicken Pho to go and shrimp salad rolls. Noodles were undercooked, cold and tasted stale. There was no Thai basil or jalapeño or other toppings. Salad rolls had pork in them and that is not what I ordered. Very disappointing after a long bike ride and trip to Bend. Wishing I ate some where else. read more

Service was swift and appropriate and the food comes out piping hot in a well expected time frame. Inside the restaurant you are immersed in bright colors and signage that if you were to just image you are transported to another world. The order was of course the pho. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Used to LOVE this place. But now, they are little more than greasy, weak broth and processed meat. I heard quality was slipping but damn...my bun bo hue was an awful.smelling mess of spaghetti noodles and sliced. processed chicken. I woke up in Idaho this morning camping. It was 37F outside. As cold as my refrigerator. I drove 8 hours to get to Bend OR. This pho spot was my destination. Considering it was cold outside and I was really looking forward to pho, I didn't want to chance anything... so I called to confirm the restaurant would be open until 9pm. I was told it was. Upon entering at around 8:30, I was advised that they were only doing take out orders. Understandably, staff may want to get out of there! The gentleman who took my phone call recognized me and asked if I called. When I identified that it was me, he graciously asked me to sit and said it's ok. I had said I'd be out by 9pm. He could see me visibly rushing when he asked me to take my time. He made chit chat and asked about where I was from. I explained my long drive. He asked where I was going. He honored my presence. That warm pho filled my stomach with goodness... and I am grateful. The gentleman's name who helped me was named Son. And he is why I am leaving this review. The food was mediocre and met minimal expectations. The owner's wife caused a lot of unnecessary trouble by accusing me of lying about a gift card I received from a family member living out of state. Instead of addressing the issue calmly, she immediately suggested I pay the full bill or leave. She eventually consulted with the owner(which is her husband), but if she had taken a moment to look at the wall behind her displaying gift card purchases and receipts, she would have seen the proof including her husband signature. Instead of resolving the issue herself, she sent a server to correct the mistake and apologize. The experience was disappointing, marred by her condescending attitude. On a positive note, the setup was quite charming with the plants. Small note. They don't do military discounts. read more

This place was full of disappointment. We never got our meals. Details-We got seats after unwelcoming waitress. She brought us menu and water with utensils shortly after. Then she helped other group who came after us, she didn't came back for taking our order. After we waited few more minutes she finally came and took our order then the problem started. The other table who came after us got meals before we did. Then there was a waiter helped other guests and took their order which we were still waiting for our meal. No idea how this place is so popular. I ordered seafood pho and fried calamari to go. It costed $40 dollars (wow!), it must be amazing I guessed. Got back to hotel and they forgot to give me the noodles so I had to drive all the way back to get it. They didn't even offer a discount or anything. Started eating my pho and realized that they put pineapple in the broth, so it was super sweet. Everything about the pho was just wrong. This place is always a hit for me! The food is great, I love the traditional chicken pho but they also have so many other great menu options. The staff is friendly and helpful! I also love the ambiance of the restaurant, it's quaint and cozy. I'm a houseplant lover so the plants all over the ceiling and windows is my kinda vibe! It was 3:10 and I came in to ask if they still accepting people to dine in. The guy didn't even bother to listen to my question and asked me how many, and immediately seated me. He seemed grumpy and wanted to rush us to order, which I can understand because he wanted to take a break, but he can just tell us not to come in instead of making us feel rushed though.. We ordered pho tai and pho bo dac biet (combination). Food was amazing. Their broth is rich, sweet and savory, and their noodles are chewy yet soft. It's 9/10 for food! Took 1 point out because their eye round steak was a little bit tough to me. Ordered the thai ice tea, it seems a little thin in my opinion. All in all, this place is great. The only thing I'd like to suggest for this restaurant is to be firm on their break hours, or set up a shift system. I notice that customers don't really respect their writings on the door saying they will take a break at 3:30 and just keep on coming after that hour. But the other guy (not the grumpy guy who served me) also keep accepting people anyway so I don't know, seems like a weird dynamic to me. It's not good to force their workers to work without a break. It seems to be the best pho in bend and very famous. we ordered a fried wanton which is too thick of the wanton skin but delicious in the inside. whole tender chiken meat and the vinagar is good with vegetables. The duck pho soup is little too salt but once you get the lemon juciy inside the soup it is balanced. I recommend this dish because you can find a lot asian vegetalbes in it, which makes the soup yummy. however the duch itself is not that delicious although it make contribution to the soup. the other one is the traditional pho with pork and shrimp which is fresh. read more

Potstickers were deep-fried, and the sauce was very thin. Nothing that really stuck to the actual potsticker. Both of the dishes were mostly very flavorless. The flavor was average but I like the fact that it came with a lot of meat. I would like to try some of the other dishes in the future. Great food and incredibly friendly staff. The owner, Sun, is a super nice guy and stopped by to check in on us and chat a bit when we'd finished our dinner of vegetarian bun and bun bo hue. It was funny, when I ordered the bun bo hue, he very politely made sure I knew what I was getting into. When I asked "do you make it with cubed pork blood?" he smiled and said "oh, you'll be fine!" (and no they don't put tendon or pork blood in it). It is medium-spicy which for me is just enough to get a little tingle but nothing I'd consider "spicy". The food was all very very authentic (I've been to Vietnam a couple of times and have eaten Vietnamese food all over the world). We'll definitely be back next time we're in Bend! read more

After 3 years, we decided to give Pho Viet another try so we came here lunch today. It was not busy yet around 11:30. Got seated immediately and the owner came to say hello and took our order at the same time. He is as friendly and nice as we remembered him. He recommended the calamari appetizer so we got that together with R2(grilled pork chop plate), R3(pork and shrimp plate) and the combination pho. The calamari cane out fast. It was beautifully presented, delicious but with very few calamari pieces, not worth $16.95. The pho and the R3 plate came out right after. We figured the pork chop plate was on the way too, 10mins later and still nothing so we called out our server's attention. It looked like they forgot it. The owner came over to say it's taking a little long to cook because it's a HUGE pork chop. The food finally came out 10mins later and the HUGE pork chop was about 1/8th of an inch thick and the eggs that were supposed to be sunny side up were well done. The lady that brought it out apologized and said they made it very special. Ugh! Why not just apologize for the delay and not say another obvious lie. It was exasperating. Anyways, the pho was ok if you like sweet broth. I do not. The meats in the R2 and R3 plates were pretty salty but the steamed rice kind of balanced it off. Oh, and the shrimps that came with the R3 plate were just 2 stretched out medium sized shrimps on a skewer. Sad to say, we definitely won't be back. read more

Only time I have ever been let down was recently around Thanksgiving when the whole place was full and there were people waiting in line for pickup orders clear outside into the parking lot.
