Tofu pad thai
Sheri B.

SERVICE - 5 stars: warm welcoming attentive. PAD THAI - 4 stars: thin noodles and tofu perfect texture, sauce sweet and savory balance was good just a tinge on the sweet side, enjoyable sesame undertones, fresh lime and veggie garnish would have made it a 5. AMBIANCE- 3.80 stars: floor to ceiling for windows make it nice and bright, sitting on a downtown corner makes for good ppl watching. Dated interior which comes natural to being established...could use some sprucing up but if getting takeout out or not on a first date of no issue.

Sweet & sour lunch special (comes with Paht Thai, Thai salad, and rice) for $11

My boyfriend and I love going to Toomie's for a date. Our favorite soup is the Tom Kah. No other Thai place comes close to the flavor of their Tom Kah. The Ma kur eggplant dish is phenomenal. I've had it many times and the eggplant is always perfect, never bitter. The service at Toomie's is consistently pleasant. We've been going to Toomie's for almost 4 years and we go at least every other week, if not weekly. Definitely one of the best downtown restaurants.

Beautiful atmosphere with great street view. Very attentive and friendly service throughout our dining experience. Authentic Thai dishes with fresh ingredients and great flavor. We would order the exact same entrées, and definitely try everything else! Many regulars came in and the waitress knew all of them by name .

My gf was craving Thai and found this on Google (where i would've looked on Yelp lol). I was really surprised to see only 3.5 stars for this place. The other thai spots in the area had a different fusion taste which i wasn't quite a fan of. If im craving Thai, it's traditional Thai food. Anyway, when we got here, it didn't seem too busy at first for dining in but there were a handful of customers waiting for to go orders. We noticed almost immediately they didn't have quite a full staff so we braced ourselves for slow mediocre service. The lady up front who was hosting, was also serving, and running the to go orders. She was serving Probably about 6 tables including us and we were pretty impressed with not only the flavorful food, but we also didn't have any issues with the service. She was as quick, attentive, and if she was stressed... she didn't show it! When i see a restaurant that seems to be a little short staffed and doing their very best, it's a cherry on top to still feel like we received great service and left satisfied with full bellies. It's refreshing to see businesses up and running again. This will be our to go to spot for thai food when we're back in Bend!

So good! Every appetizer and entree was awesome. Very fresh! Great fast service. We had crab wontons, calamari, fresh spring rolls, pad se ew and the combo fried rice was AMAZING

Paht Thia with tofu.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommend Toomies a Bend staple.

Chicken in my tofu pad Thai

I always love Toomies like always, I never don't. But today it was awful. I know that it gets hard for the waitress because it's just her. But our food came out late as in it took forever and cold. We ordered drinks and appetizers and it took half an hour to get them with the ice in the glasses already melted. And the spring rolls and potstickers (our appetizers) were cold. And finding chicken in my tofu pad Thai isn't a big deal to me because I just picked it out, but to someone else it could be.

Drunken noodles, green eggplant curry, and yellow tofu curry.

I felt really safe eating during the pandemic at the restaurant. They were very clean and made sure that the tables were set apart. The food was yummy but high in sodium for my palette. Definitely recommend getting the drunken noodles. If you're vegan, order yourself the green or yellow curry with soft tofu. Get Thai tea with coconut cream too. Good price.

I almost took off a star because they were really busy with take out orders so service was kind of slow but the food was so good and I think this place is super underrated so I still want to give 5 stars. Staff was super nice and accommodating of us and dietary restrictions we had in our party. It's walkable to everywhere else downtown. The food was incredible and they seated us right when we arrived at 7pm on a Friday. I particularly liked the crispy tofu appetizer and I am really not a tofu person, but it was delicious with the 2 sauces. When I'm back in bend I will definitely be back here! So delicious.

This place was recommended by my daughter, who has been living in the area for about six months,…read moreand it did not disappoint! I was seated quickly at a small table near the front of the restaurant by a friendly host. The restaurant itself is so fun and quirky, with colorful decor and roses covering the ceiling. It has such a cheerful, playful atmosphere that immediately puts you in a good mood. A cheerful waitress came over shortly after to take my order. I ordered the Butterflies--wontons filled with Dungeness crab, garlic, cream cheese, and green onions, served with a sweet chili dipping sauce--and the Curry Basil Noodles. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions were incredibly generous. Despite having a couple of large parties in the restaurant, I didn't feel like I waited long for my food. I had plenty of leftovers to enjoy later, which is always a bonus! I would definitely recommend this place and hope to enjoy another meal here the next time I'm in town.

Unfortunate disappointment. We had been looking forward to this place after several local residents…read morehad recommended this spot for dinner. As a major Thai food fan having eaten in Thailand, specifically Chiang Mai several times, I was eager to try the Northern Thai spot. We had spent the whole day hiking and were excited to grub. The only redeeming factor was that there's no wait (which should be a red flag more than anything). We got the vegetarian papaya salad, tom kha, and curry noodles. Service started off great with waters and quick attention. However, the food was beyond disappointing. The papaya salad was artificially sweetened, with some odd sweet syrup poured over the combination of papaya and one sole tomato slice. No citrus or spice could be tasted. The tom kha was also not well made, with it being sweet more than anything and the tofu tasting like it has been cut up and tossed in the soup 1 minute before service. The curry noodles started off strong with a nice spice level with tofu well cooked but then chunks of the curry powder with heavy turmeric were not cooked in so landed heavy in the mouth. The combination of the three dishes as one would expect was disappointing. Dishes seemed to be rushed out of the kitchen before ending service for the night. I think unfortunately the service was the most disappointing. Had they been slightly more understanding I would have not been inclined to leave this review. However, there was instant dismissal of our disappointment with our food with an assumption that we just didn't want to pay for the meal, which was far from the truth. Would definitely not return here and would not recommend this restaurant. I am saddened to hear that this is touted as one of the better Thai restaurants in Bend. If only fellow travelers and the great people of Bend knew.

Let me start by saying I only occasionally post Yelp! reviews and I have never posted a "bad"…read morerating for any restaurant as I wouldn't want my one poor experience to taint the restaurant's review pool and rating, but... We had a sub-par experience at this restaurant a few weeks ago when dining with my wife, however I decided to give it another try this week with my daughter. Sorry to say the restaurant did not redeem itself; so I wrote a novel if you really want the details: PART I: On our first visit, (weekday evening, no reservation) I asked the server for her recommendation between two dishes, one of which was a shrimp dish. She SPECIFICALLY endorsed the shrimp dish, even repeating the name back to me. When my dish came out it was a chicken dish, and frankly, did not even seem to match the description of the shrimp dish (i.e., not just a substitution of the meat but I believe it was the wrong dish entirely.) I did not notice the error immediately (the food took forever to arrive so I was starving) but after a few bites I figured out this was not what I had ordered. We politely asked the server what was "up" and she said we ordered the chicken dish. My wife & I both separately reminded her that we SPECIFICALLY had the conversation about her recommending the shrimp, she not only did not apologize but suggested that WE made the error. She then reluctantly asked me if I wanted the kitchen to remake the order but I told her "No" since I was already halfway into the dish and I knew how long it would take them to replace it. When the bill came, I noticed that they still had charged me for the shrimp dish, which was about $8 more that the equivalent shrimp dish. So, for the nerve, they tried to charge me anyway for the dish that was not even served to me. To compound matters further, when I asked the server to adjust the price to that of the chicken dish, rather than apologize for the error and offer to correct it immediately, her dismissive response was "I'll see what I can do." After a 10-minute hunt for the manager (who was "in the back" attending to apparently more important matters), she came back with the corrected bill. Manager never came to our table and the server never acknowledged nor apologized for the poor experience and the series of errors. PART II: My daughter is vegan and wanted Thai food. I had remembered that Noi had a lot of vegetarian options so I decided to give them another try. This time I made a lunch reservation online; it was early and few diners were in the restaurant so I was hopeful we'd have a better experience this time. My dish (chicken satay; hard to screw it up) was just fine, except for no apparent reason it was served with three pieces of tiny toast, which appeared to be merely grilled compressed pieces of white bread. I teased the server a bit about it in a good-natured way, he conceded also it was somewhat a weird, not-so-Thai item. My daughter ordered a bowl of Tom-Ka, which arrived hot and she found acceptable. She also ordered a spinach & tofu dish. She had been told the spinach would be lightly sauteed, however, when it arrived it looked like about 20% of the spinach had been cooked and the rest just looked like a fresh spinach salad. Worse, it arrived COLD. I expressed my concerns about the spinach dish to the server, and asked the kitchen to remake it. Much to his credit (unlike the first server) he offered to do so without hesitation. When the replacement dish came, however, it was significantly different than the first. While it did have spinach and tofu, mixed vegetables had somehow been added to the dish; suggesting confusion in the kitchen as to how to prepare the same dish twice the same way within the same half-hour period. Getting extra veggies was not problematic, except for the baby corn, which had a sour taste, possibly from being stored too long or a bad batch of canning. After the server returned to our table to then ask if everything was OK, my daughter noticed, and retrieved with her chopsticks, a coiled shard of what appeared to be aluminum foil or some other type of metal fragment. The server, again to his credit, IMMEDIATELY apologized and offered to to the dish off the bill, which he did. And, after all the dishes were cleared, he also offered a complementary dessert, which we declined as we had an appointment to get to. I intentionally do not identify servers by name in a poor review, but conversely, I DO give credit where credit is due for good service. Harrison was our server on the second visit, and he was awesome. He diplomatically addressed the various mistakes made by the kitchen and took responsibility, even though the errors were not actually his (contrast this with the experience we had with the "anonymous" server from our first visit.) P.S., I made sure to tip Harrison based on what would have been the original cost of the meal had not the one entree been removed from the bill; he did a great job!

Such a cute restaurant - great service and the food, WOW…read more We happened to arrive during Happy Hour- so we ordered the potstickers to start. Seriously, I've never had such delicious pot stickers. I ordered the blood orange Margarita, it was light and refreshing. My husband had the I Love You 3000, he said it was perfectly balanced. My daughter had the kids fried rice and we added mom's fried chicken. It was such a generous portion. As an adult, I loved the dish! Sometimes you see restaurants really throw out garbage items to kids, not here, this is something an adult would enjoy. I had the Thai OG Basil Beef. Delicious! My husband the Gang Hang Lay.... Wow, just wow! The most flavorful curry I've had, the meat was fall apart tender. You can't go wrong coming here. I just wish we had Thai food like this in Idaho. Dear Mom was very tasty, the vibes are great and appreciated chef owner JJ coming out to talk to us on a Saturday evening. We never get Pad Thai anymore because it's usually too sweet but was very intrigued by the glass noodles. JJ explained that in Thailand it has been around forever and because it is so hot there, the rice noodles tend to be too heavy and glass noodles are easier to digest. We really loved it and thought the sauce was well balanced with a squeeze of the lime. Som Tum was mildly spicy which we appreciated that it didn't blast our palettes. Original wings were very flavorful and crispy although the chicken was a little tough. I'm wondering if it's the fish sauce marinade that might've caused that. Either way would get those again. The Khao Soi curry broth tasted flavorful but with the noodles and garnishes disappeared. Perhaps I'm just used to a more rich/intense broth. Personally, I prefer the latter so I would not get again. Great yuzu hibiscus lemon sparkling drink and we were able to enjoy the cute, well shaded patio with our dogs. If we find ourselves in Bend, I'd definitely come back!
