    Clam Chowder

The chowder was fantastic on a chilly and windy day. The Rockfish was seasoned perfectly! My colleague got the lightly crusted black cod and was very satisfied! The restaurant lays right next to the river with huge bay windows overlooking the river. Our server was very helpful and provided recommendations that did not disappoint!

Stopped in at Anthony's in Bends for lunch and had a fantastic experience. We sat inside, but still had a beautiful view of the river through the large windows--peaceful and perfect for a relaxing midday meal. Our waitress was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out just right without hovering. She kept our water glasses full and checked on us often. We ordered a variety of seafood dishes and loved every bite: * Fish tacos - super fresh with bright, balanced flavors. We ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos, Blackened Rockfish Tacos, and Wild Salmon Tacos. * Clam chowder - rich and creamy, packed with clams * Oysters - fresh and briny, served ice cold. They were so delicious and fresh, we had to refrain from over ordering * Calamari - tender and crispy, not greasy at all * Seafood dip - creamy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing with the warm delicious bread * Bread - warm, crusty, and perfect with butter, the chowder or dip. It was so delicious we had 2 helpings Every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Portions for the tacos were a bit smaller but luckily we had all the prior appetizers that helped make us content. Overall, Anthony's was wonderful. Great food, a peaceful river view, and top-notch service. Can't wait to come back on our next visit to Bend! This is such a great location with not only the river views, but all the shopping in the area is a nice added bonus.

Absolutely great place, clean, quiet and yummy food! Vin was a great server, very knowledgeable, patient, great recommendations and helpful! We got the oyster shooters, wine, salmon tacos, rockfish tacos, rhubarb strawberry mai tai and clam chowder. All great food! Definitely will be coming back! Thank you Vin for a wonderful experience! Also, parking was easy for lunch time!

Nice restaurant in the shopping area. It was a sunny evening so we enjoyed the sunset during our late lunch. The service was great. Our appetizers were better than our entrees. My partner had a clam chowder and I had a Caesar salad. His clam chowder was a cute little size but creamy and delicious. My Caesar salad was perfect. The right amount of dressing and cheese. Their dressing was light and not very zesty (common issue I have with most Caesar salad dressings). Our entrees were more of a 3/5. My partner had mixed feelings about his clam linguini. Good taste but wished there were a little more clams. I liked the roasted shrimp and veggies, but did not like whatever was added to the basmati rice. I think the menu says almond but did not taste like it. If the rice was better, I think this dish could be tied together much better. I'd definitely come back for their appetizers and different entrees.

Just came here for a quick lunch. The clam chowder was good. I'm probably a little snobbish about it, but it was good. The ceaser was great, and so were the fries. We'll be back!

I loved this restaurant. My husband and I spent our anniversary at Anthony's and for a spur of the moment-food was edible. Besides the food being edible, the only downfall that we had was the fact that everything on the menu was over-priced for the portions that you received as a meal. We still left hungry and ended up going to a different restaurant down the road where the food and price was a lot better. They were slammed and the manager was a bit rude to those who didn't make reservations, but I recommend those to give it a try.

Outside seating near the river walk

We stayed in Bend, Oregon on our way to Washington state and decided to try a restaurant near the river. The hostess was so amazing and made a very good impression and our table was perfect!! We decided on small plates, salad and wine. We ordered the steamed clams, fried calamari, and house salad. We expected the salad to be nothing special; however, it had baby shrimp and blue cheese crumbles with shaved fennel...it was the best thing we had along with the warm sour dough bread. The calamari could have been fried a little more and the steamed clams were just ok. The broth lacked substance and was not quite as flavorful (maybe more garlic, butter, or salt??). We enjoyed some local area wine and overall was a good experience. The Old Mill District was amazing and we will definitely be back!

Nice view of Deschutes river! The high ceiling is really help us enjoying our big table lunch conversations. The seafood are fresh and tasty. We had three different types of fresh oysters. The salad is also fresh and deliciously goes with perfectly cooked salmon. Parking might be hard to find but if you like to walk then parking would not be an issue. Not many people on Saturday lunch. Service is fast.

I tried to love this place because the location is great and their menu looked even better. I am having a hard time trying to find a reason to recommend this restaurant, but I can't. I came in on a Wednesday late afternoon because they posted on their website they had a happy hour with cocktails and a nice bar menu. We'll, they don't have happy hour when there is an evening concert across the river. (Pretty much 5 months of the year, May-September.) They only have some reduced prices on a few cocktails which can only be ordered while standing by the bar (there are no bar seats anywhere near the bar) and if you want to order any food, they will hand you a number plaquar to know where to deliver your order because you can't sit and eat inside unless you have a reservation. I was still interested in the menu so I made an online reservation to return later that evening for dinner and asked to sit outside because the weather was so nice. Reservation was honored! (Yay, 1 star) We were seated by a nice hostess and our server Lindey was also very sweet but not very experienced in my opinion because she didn't know the difference between a bourbon on the rocks and an Old Fashion cocktail which is what she brought to our table. Our Dungeness Crab appetizer was delivered hot and the bread was perfectly toasted. It was creamy and good. Then we gave our dinner order and from that point, it all went downhill. My husband ordered the Grilled fish with greenbeans and he felt like it had been sitting under a warmer for too long. I ordered a Dungeness Crab dinner which was the main reason for dining here since it is not a dish that I can get fresh in my hometown. 30 minutes passed before I was informed that they had no Dungeness Crab that night. I questioned why it was in the appetizers but not available as a main. Guess I now know what is fresh versus frozen from the menu. Prices reflected fresh seafood. I didn't find anything else on the menu that interested me except more of the appetizer Dungeness Crab so I got the stuffed mushrooms. They sounded good and honestly they were very good but I had now waited another 30 minutes. The server kindof disappeared and told us she was so afraid to come back to our table because the food situation was so messed up. We were offered a loaf of warm sourdough bread and herb butter while waiting. It too was really nice but we had really hoped for a nice dinner while on vacation and this place was really more of a tourist trap than a locals fresh seafood establishment. Our meal was over and we were done! I will add that the server knew that we shouldn't pay for all the mistakes so some of our food was taken off the check. Thank you for sharing our pain. I don't think I can recommend this place as the food is good but the management really killed it for us.

Crispy calamari...so good that I literally forgot to take a pic! This was taken towards the end of me scarfing this down.

I was in Bend, Oregon on business and wanted a nice sit down meal after a crazy long day and Anthony's fit the bill while also being near my hotel. The restaurant is classy and upscale with a decore of medium-dark wood where ever possible and spacious seating/dining areas in keeping with what I would expect from a restaurant in the heart of a mountain community of Oregon. I was seated, almost immediately, upon walking in without a reservation, past the expansive bar to a dining area with huge floor to ceiling windows....that was not surprisingly full. Apparently, I wasn't the only one wanting a classy sit down dinner. Lots of people in business casual...taking business, reconnecting with friends and obvious 1st dates. The menu was had a lot to choose from even for a picky person...me I could have had everything on this menu, everything sounded delicious. With some advice from the friendly server I ended up going with: -roasted Brussels spouts: I loved them! -crispy calamari with lemon aioli: very crispy, just the way I liked them. I practically inhaled them. -wild seared Mahi Mahi Poke -peppermint sundae: recommended by my server! And so good I forgot to take a pic! lol Overall, a wonderful restaurant in both experience and food. I'm not in the Bend Oregon area very often but when I do come back it would be difficult not to have dinner here again or recommending it as a place to take my clients.

    Perfection.

FANTASTIC. The Caesar salad was prepared perfectly, and I mean, perfectly. Preparation for this salad is difficult, actually. It's not as simple as it looks. When it comes out this way, you're in heaven. Fresh lettuce. The Romain lettuce must be perfectly fresh. Crisp. You'd be surprised, how often the lettuce ruins the salad, even though the dressing is perfect. In this case, no worries. ADD: freshly grated Parmesan Reggiano! Now, let's move to the dressing. You don't clumpy, thick, or disgusting. You want a nice clean Caesar dressing, which is what we have here. I mean seriously, this is the best Caesar Salad I've ever had. Service, spectacular (at the bar). I also had a mushroom appetizer. That was also spectacular. I didn't want to ruin the photos by cluttering up a mushroom appetizer on top of things. In this case, it's all about the Caesar Salad. This place is off the charts. And, of all places, Bend, Oregon. Happy I dropped by...and also enjoyed an oatmeal stout on TAP!!! Don't know if I'll ever be back, but if I am, I know where I'm going. Check it out.

Ceasars salad, aperol spritz and some crab. So good!

We were greeted by the host and seated quickly. We started our meal with a delicious non-alcoholic drink and the Chef's Board: a charcuterie with an assortment of cured meats, rustic bread, and various spreads. That came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, our main courses came out much, much later and lukewarm. Luckily, the food was good enough that it made up for the temperature. I had the NY strip steak. The steak and the Boursin mashed potatoes alone were very good. The pickled onions and chimichurri complemented the meat very well. The meal was supposed to include brussel sprouts but came with a grilled broccoli cauliflower assortment instead. My wife had the Scallop Risotto which was also a great recommendation from the server. In reality, The Hook & Plow deserved 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option on Yelp. It may have been an off night for the staff, so I will give them the benefit of doubt. We would be open to trying it again sometime in the future.

I took a moment to study the vintage photo of the original firehouse that now serves as the brick bones of the restaurant. Awesome seeing the original garage doors and recognizing where the fire trucks would have sat in waiting. They even kept the fire pole above the bar. I found myself wishing other areas of the restaurant had been designed or decorated more intentionally to honor its soulful past. It wants to be a high class spot, but something about the interior design feels underwhelming. I enjoyed the drinks I tried although the menu seems a bit unimaginative. The energy was strange, maybe it was that night, but bar staff seemed to be a bit "altered" and on edge. One was wearing what may or may not have been an intentional cologne that smelled like the overpowering essence of hot rubber mixed with cigar smoke, and leather. I ended up ordering the fresh steelhead and it was amazing. Caesar salad was lovely. And the drink of the night was called something like a White Christmas but was sort of a wintery margarita. I found Brickhouse thanks to Yelp! and I was sold when I saw they had French Onion Soup and Blackened Ribeyes. The only problem was that it was a Sunday night and it would be 8 pm when I finally made my way there. They were open until 9 pm, but I know a lot of restaurants will close early if they don't have enough patrons. When I showed up at the restaurant I asked if they were still serving and the waitress that helped me went to check. The Manager came out and was very nice and said they were. I asked for the bar and he led me over to the bar with a menu. The bartender was incredibly nice from the get go. I should have written the review earlier, because then I would have remembered his name, but unfortunately it escapes me now. I already knew what I wanted but I didn't want to rush through it. I ordered a dirty martini and the French Onion Soup. Both were great. The soup was loaded with Gruyère, which I loved. It was rich and wasn't overwhelming with the onions. It hit the spot on this cold (to the Californian) night. The bartender recommended I try the Wagyu ribeye and I figured why not? So, I got the Blackened Wagyu Ribeye. It came with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies which were both really tasty. I like mashed potatoes, but I'm not crazy about them, but these were really good. The steak was huge and they cooked it perfectly. The blackening seasoning wasn't quite as flavorful as I am used to, but it was still good. I managed to get through the cap of the ribeye and that was delicious. I also had a glass of wine with my steak that the bartender helped me pick. Everything was really tasty, the restaurant was clean and upscale looking, and the people working there were very nice. It was the perfect way to spoil myself after transporting my foster kitten to Spokane and then driving back to California. I would definitely return if I make a trip through Bend again.

Even though we had already decided, the waitress went on her whole spiel through the menu highlights, including what we had already had planned to order. Awkward, but it was fine, and we didn't stray from our original choices. The Blackened Redfish was perfectly cooked and flaky. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes with a slightly tangy sauce. All of it was tasty, but I was a bit disappointed in the lack of spice to the blackening seasoning and the sauce. Also, serving it on grits instead of mashed potatoes would have made it feel 100% more Cajun, even with lack of seasoning. The Jambalaya fared a bit better, although my boyfriend was also left puzzled by the lack of spice to this classic dish. In all ways it was a very good representation of New Orleans style red jambalaya, with the andouille sausage being particularly notable for flavor. The cornbread it came with was pretty good. We shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. A very decadent concoction of chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel. It was one of the better $12 slices of cake I've had. Overall? The service was good, if not a bit awkward with the menu spiel. The food was all very well prepared, but for a Cajun style restaurant they sure could stand to spice things up a bit. It's not cheap, but at least the entrees are a full sized meal and you don't have to order many "tiny plates" to cobble together a dinner.

I show up, had a great table, great drinks, food and dessert too. I had the "PAC. Northwest Ribeye, horseradish mashed potatoes, with the house sauce (mushroom). The steak was AMAZING! (You can have the sauce on the side, but why?) The thick (14oz.) steak laid half over the mashers, and sauce all over which is how I liked it. The mashed potatoes had the perfect blend of horseradish (not overpowering) that went well with my medium-rare steak. It was delicious and, boy I was full! Parking was like (well, you know Bend!) reasonable (no reflection on the restaurant) get there early and stake your claim! The service was amazing, the food was awesome (my steak was flavorful, juicy, and cooked to perfection!). Price $$$ It is what you'd expect for such a fine dining experience! My drink was (I can't remember the name) but was a crushed berry, whiskey, mint leaf, on ice, but very tasty! I want more! Kudos and compliments to everyone there for making my birthday dining experience so wonderful! My desert, a slice of chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream!

We enjoyed four different kinds of mocktails off of the menu and each one had incredible flavor profiles. I had the kobe beef ribeye special with Jerusalem artichokes and he had the prime rib. Both of us were so pleased with our steaks and we're really actually pretty picky about our beef. ALSO! I am a connoisseur of crème brûlée, I've had it all over North America and this is the best one I've ever had. Hands down. This is the second time I've had it here and it continues to be the best I've ever had. I will be back for that alone! Our server Keira was incredibly nice, attentive, helpful, warm, and had great personality. We felt cared for, had amuse Bouche sent from the kitchen for our anniversary, left full, and happy!
