Step back into 1970! Lovely, attentive service. Quiet dining room. Easy for a group or solo diner. Good menu but we were fortunate to be there on an evening when they were serving prime rib which is exactly what we wanted. Enter through the breezeway into bar, then pass through to dining room. This was the second time we went to this place. Both times it was for a friend's birthday and this is what they picked to go to. Let's just say that the company was nice and that was the only good thing about this experience. The food was disappointing both times going there. I had ordered the shrimp plate and it tasted like frozen food that had been reheated in the microwave. Even the bread was bland. Both times there, the dining room was empty except for us. Food and service and restaurant are reliable and longstanding in the community. making it through the COVID crisis with consistent customer service. They are not the top location in town, atmosphere is outdated no doubt, location is sort of strange being hidden in a big cement building, but food is good, service reliable and the older 70's-80's bucket seats in the bar are super comfortable. I like this place. I can't speak for the front dining room. But I can tell you I've gone here a lot and the bar in the back is older, but clean. The servers are nice and quick. Even when it's busy. The food is what you'd expect of bar food.. but I always get the chicken strips.. so I can't speak for the seafood. Good little locals bar! read more

Very pleasant waitress was nice. The seafood grilled platter was straight from the freezer!! No flavor and the vegetables were also lacking flavor or texture. It seemed a little scary when we entered the restaurant through a solid door (no windows) in a weird location of an aging office complex with a homeless person sleeping on the bench outside. We walked into a room that looked like the waiting room of a 1970's dentist office. No one was there to greet us. We poked our heads around to see what was going on. There was what appeared to be a fairly active bar to the left and the dining area to the right. We were then greeted by a server, who I think might have been the owner. We arrived at the restaurant at 4:00 (the time lunch ends), so the bar was busier than the dining area. There were four people in the dining area, including us, at this early hour. We looked at the menu and quickly decided what we wanted to order. When W asked if it was too late to order from the lunch menu, our server told us that it was not too late. She also told us that we could order from the Happy Hour menu, which we had not reviewed. We did end up ordering from the Happy Hour menu. I ordered the fish and chips with a side salad (it was fewer than $10.00) and W ordered the sirloin with fries ($11.00). I thoroughly enjoyed my little fried cod fish balls. The cod was fresh, flaky and cooked to perfection. The fries were tasty, but not homemade. The salad was deliciously fresh. W ordered his steak medium and he said it was a great piece of meat. I have to deduct one star for the not so modern atmosphere. If they keep the same decor for 10 more years, it might be cool deco. That's not true. They need to update the restaurant. It has a lot of potential and probably wouldn't cost too much. The happy hour menu is from 4:00 until 8:00, so if you want a great meal for less than you might pay at KFC, this is the place to go. This was a late minute change of dinner plans. This must be the secret of Bend, Oregon. It is the best food I have tasted in a long time. We had the Salmon. It was the best I have eaten in years. I had it grilled, my wife had it crusted. Both were wonderful. The service was great, the server made you feel like you were eating in her home. The price was a very nice range for this kind of meal. We are on vacation and have eaten in several wonderful city's the past two weeks. It has been amazing. The veggies were steamed and excellent. The bread was light and fresh. Big disappointment! Read a few reviews and was hoping for the best but no luck. Bland lukewarm halibut was the catch of the day. Seems like prime rib is what they push at this so called fish restaurant. Weird by kitschy atmosphere is what you get when you find it in this 70's office park. We didn't go to the bar which faces 4th Street but it always seems to be busy. We wound up at another business in this little strip mall right at lunch time and had heard this was a good place to try. It has an odd entrance not well marked and no one was inside the restaurant, so we weren't even sure they were open. Like others before have mentined, very old 70's-80's decor, dark, quiet and well air conditioned room. Not one person in the seating area. We could hear voices in the back, which we found out later was a small bar. The bartender came out, we asked if they were open for lunch, she said yes. We asked why there wasn't anyone at all in the room or eating. She said "Monday's are always slow like this". We said "Well how is the food then, if no one is eating". She assured us she had worked there for over 15 years and it was great food. We were happy to be out of the extreme heat that day and in a cool, quiet room so thought we would give it a try. While looking over the menu and since it is a "fish house" we decided to try fish or seafood. My husband ask for a beer, they didn't have one he liked, she made a suggestion and brought him a small "taster" to check it out. He liked the beer, but asked her why it was warm. She said "Oh, our walkins were down over the weekend and no one knew until this morning so they are being worked on". I then asked her how would the fish/seafood be, was it also warm? (yuck, plus could make us sick! ). She said everything was fine, not to worry. We ordered from the lunch menu - fish and chips and the shrimp platter. While my husband said the fish was great and cooked perfectly. Nothing special about the fries. The shrimp had some issues. The grilled shrimp was bland and was right on the edge of being cooked enough. The fried shrimp looked old, maybe even re-heated - it was dark and coated heavily with an oily coating that I peeled off. The coconut shrimp was the same - heavily coated, dark and had NO coconut flavor. It too looked old and was greasy/oily. You couldn't have paid us to touch the little pots of tartar sauce, which had a "film" on top and afer the whole "walkin down" scenario, we were worried about them. The rice that came with the shrimp was good, although both it and the veggies must have been microwaved. Gave three stars because the bartender/waitress was really nice. We had to go pay and check out in the little bar (still not one person in the dining area but us for over an hour, which was odd for a lunch hour in busy Bend) and there were six people visiting and drinking in the bar. You could tell it was the "local crowd" that always hangs out there by what they were saying to each other. With our two drinks it was over $45. If the food would have been better I guess that price wouldn't be too bad. I was disappointed they didn't have more seafood options, especially crab cakes. I was also disappointed that my drink was almost all ICE and very little else. If the ice would have been out of the glass, I bet there wasn't even 4 ounces of liquid. I asked the bartender why there was so much ice and so little drink, she said "Ice makes it taste better". Hummm......I wasn't going to argue with her about it, but that was a silly answer. We also noticed the tables, chairs, menu's etc. all had a "tacky, sticky" feel to them. The bathroom was spotless. We have crossed this off as a place to eat in Bend. I agree with other reviewers, Bend needs a couple seafood places! read more

Food was mostly delicious. I had the seafood platter because it was grilled. I wasn't eating carbs and asked to have a salad instead of rice and carrots but they wouldn't substitute that even though I was having food allergies. My husbands steak was a little grizzly but cooked well. There was only 3 parties in the whole restaurant. For the price and how not busy they were, substituting should've been fairly easy. This fish and steak house is a hidden treasure worth the hunt! The velvet chairs made me feel like celebrity. The service was incredible and made us feel not like customers but like friends. The restaurant is quiet and we had the place to ourselves. We came for the prime rib on Friday, which was incredibly satisfying. The $7 bacon Mac and cheese is not to be overlooked. Located in a concrete stripmall, this cozy lounge and restaurant seems locked in filthy time, everything sorely needing attention from upholstery to ceilings to a sticky tack acquired by any surface - from menus to seats to bathroom doors in this musty establishment. Service is typically good though seafood quality can be hit-or-miss. Reasonable happy hour and good prime rib nights will keep me an occasional patron. Bend really needs a good bluecollar seafood place, and sadly this just can't cut it. It's the type of place whos clientele has been slowly dying off due to either old age or side effects of alcoholism. read more

This place had such a nice article, I wanted to try it. What nice people and sincere. There was no fish smell walking in. My almond crusted salmon was excellent and again no smell. My salmon was pink, moist and didn't have any dark patches. Veggies didn't have anything special to them or I would've given a rating of 5 stars. Highly recommend this place. read more

I ordered the halibut, which was a bit tough and fairly tasteless, but it wasn't horrible. My daughter ordered sole, and she said it was OK; however, we specifically requested that it be prepared PLAIN and it came out covered in sauce, which my daughter ended up thinking was OK, but it still wasn't what we had ordered. With the recent closure of another local fish house we've started our adventure to find the next best crab cakes in town. This was our first stop in looking. First off, we got there and there wasn't a person sitting in the dining room (at 3pm). After waiting 4-5 minutes for a table my husband went to the bar and told them we were waiting, after another 4-5 minutes we still had not been seated OR greeted. So we left. But one thing I did notice since I had plenty of time to read the menu while waiting is that this fish house has no crab cakes, no crab, no shrimp, no lobster.....just halibut, salmon and fish and chips. I'd wish this business luck but it just feels the owners don't care for it to be successful anymore. It's old, dirty, outdated, service is non existent and the menu is lacking seafood/fish selection. May I suggest going on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares for some help in revamping this once hidden gem??? read more

Dated, a bar type dive. Ate in the bar..slot machines, stuck in the 70s . Drinks were strong and good. Happy hour prices were low and fair. Caesar salad was huge for 3.00 and good. Fish and chips..well....the fries looked and tasted like frozen and the fish was little balls of fish. I ate only the fish..not bad, but you can go somewhere else and get way better for a little more. If you are older, like the lounge type atmosphere...this is the place for you.
