Laughing Planet is my go to quick by healthy option when I am just not feeling like making any food. We try to eat fairly Paleo when I cook at home and Laughing Planet has great options to eat so I am not wasting one of my precious night out cheats. I wish we had come here sooner while visiting! A friend of ours recommended Laughing Planet since we like to eat healthy and I have some food restrictions. (No dairy, no wheat, etc.) First off, the staff we have encountered is wonderful!! They went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and recommend what they thought we would like! They got us hooked on their Kombucha. We ordered a "Comfort Bowl" both times and we are hooked. We added broccoli which I recommend. My son had kids cheese quesadilla, it was also amazing. The chicken is good but not my favorite. The shredded beef is tender, flavorful and I highly recommend it. The vegan cheese and sour cream is so dang good, you would have no clue the sour cream is vegan! My family can have normal cheese and sour cream but they loved mine so much, they got it on theirs. The chips and salsa are addicting! I like the red medium salsa. I can't say it enough, I love this place! But seriously the staff makes this place awesome. So for anyone who follows me you know I'm not a fan of big chains. I had never made it to one in Portland because it just didn't seem appealing. Big mistake. So I read that the table dinosaurs are a hit with kids. Which is a big deal to me since my kids can use the entertainment and love dinosaurs. I figured guaranteed vegan food so let's try it. Wow. Just wow. The guy I ordered from said "everything here can be made vegan by removing meat and or cheese because we don't cook with any animal products." Um hell to the yes. So pissed at myself for not taking photos!!! I had an amazing summer salad with flavor, texture and so filling. My daughter had a quesadilla, my son had chips and cheese and beans (easy nachos to us,) and my husband had a burrito of some sort. Every single thing was good. I loved the salsa so much. It was just a bunch of cut up kale with a few dried up garbanzos on it and a plastic container(it was to go) with a dressing that sure didn't taste like anything. I could have bought a whole bag of Kale and a bottle of dressing for half the cost of this salad.there was no creativity in this tasteless salad. Unfortunately, I have to update and downgrade my review based on our visit today. The bad- Really disappointed in our choices. Wife got the Lebanese bowl on special and I ordered the Bollywood bowl from the regular menu. Both sounded really good from the menu. When the food came I was sadly met with the most bland bowl of food I've had at a restaurant in quite sometime. Seriously, even the sweet potatoes were lifeless. The sauce had zero seasoning and the chicken was so ho-humi couldn't stand it. I went to the condiment counter and got the salt, the alt-soy sauce and a small bottle of their house made hot sauce. The "soy sauce" saved the dish but turned it into a Southeast Asian bowl rather than the Indian food I had wanted. Wife said she was disappointed, too. Her Lebanese bowl was under seasoned... But tasted better than my bowl as I found out after trying hers. You'd expect both of these dishes to be gushing with flavor given their culture origins, but man, Were we wrong! My wife said it was a total whitewashing if these items and I have to agree... My daughter's black beans and rice bowl was bland as all get out, too. My husband and I went here for dinner, we weren't impressed at all. Half my taco salad was white asian style sticky rice in it, huh? I subbed chicken for the pulled pork and I guess that was a mistake, chicken didn't have much flavor. The only thing I liked was the guacamole. This is no laughing matter! This is seriously GOOD food! We had avoided the place thinking it was just another vegan joint, juice bar, for veggie heads. WRONG! (Although their menu caters to all of the above) We are not vegans, or even veggies, but we loved this place. Clean, well lit and full of good food. Decor is bright and comfortable. Fast casual, I think they call it. Order at the counter, then they bring your food to your table. Lunch and dinner dishes of all kinds (with or without beef,pork or chicken), from generous meal bowls, wraps, burritos, salads, tacos, soups, beers, sandwiches, wines, teas, etc. with vegan and vegggie options for all. I walked in to order and guy on the line makes eye contact, doesn't say a word. Does t even acknowledge me with a nod or anything. Blank stare. No one home. I came here for the first time today because I've heard great reviews. I'm eating it as we speak! DIY tacos is filled with veggies, shredded pork, great flavor, and three corn tortillas. The place is clean and waitress and cashier were extremely personable and clean cut. I also got a green juice that has ginger, apple, kale, celery and cilantro which is surprisingly very good. Great restaurant to spend $30 at and receive horrible service. I actually just created a yelp account just to leave a review. Whatever you do, DO NOT ask if the chip bowl is refillable. Man, I'm already paying for chips and salsa - which is a courtesy at basically every sit down restaurant that has chips and salsa. You will be met with a stern "NO", paired with a simultaneous roll of the eyes. I thought liberals were all about free stuff, but only when they're on the recieving end, I suppose. The food was good, thanks to the Mexican crew in the back... the only staff deserving of any thanks or gratitude. Which brings me to the waiting staff, who hate you, and customer service, and smiling. I mean how much is a bowl of generic, commercial tortilla chips? A whole 25 cents? Small price to pay to keep a customer happy. Anyways, I could go on here but it's Saturday and I want to forget this experience as soon as possible. Bottom line: Horrible customer service. Food is alright but the distasteful service ruined the meal. I'd rather go to a restaurant with bad food and great service than this place. Very unwelcoming. Great place for vegan fast casual! I had a mushroom taco which was delicious as well as the Thai bowl with tempeh which was everything I want in a bowl! Rice, veggies, protein and a yummy sauce. We are so glad this place opened! We love light, healthy, fresh food, and this place meets all criteria. It's Latin influenced, with lots of black beans, rice, salsas, chilies, etc. They make an assortment of burritos, bowls, salads, etc, that are all with local, organic and sustainable options. Portions are perfectly appropriate and I actually finish my whole meal. I love that they have plantains on the menu. It's very kid friendly with dinosaurs all over for them to play with, and the dinos get a "bath" twice a day, which I think it just so clever and cute. Especially since I saw a kid putting a dino in his mouth. Disgusting. I love their smoothies and juices, and they have healthy soda options. No complaints about this place, we've had excellent service and love the food. Us: Out of towners done running some errands for our first evening in town, looking for good clean healthy dinner options. Them: To the rescue! Super friendly, welcoming staff, even as we arrived almost exactly 30 minutes before close. I am so impressed by the menu, then again I'm from Chicago and you'd think we'd have the selection for a big city but we just end up with more big name chain junk. They have well-labeled menu items for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or containing nuts. They even have a paleo friendly dish on the menu! I wish Chicago would wise up to these dietary needs. We got the paleo bowl with tempeh instead of meat, Cobb salad, vegan chili, and 2 smoothies: berry berry and marionberry ginger. Both super fresh, delicious and amazing! I had to ask what a marionberry is since we don't have them in IL -even auto correct isn't recognizing it :p It's apparently native to Oregon and looks like a blackberry but tastes more like a raspberry. Paleo bowl had such amazing flavor! Best tempeh I've ever had, and that's actually pretty hard to find. As someome who doesn't eat meat but also doesn't do well with soy and still needs a protein source -but the fact that tempeh is fermented makes it digestible- wish I could have this tempeh daily! The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 ..and I wish I could give 4.5..is because on the salad we asked for avocado lime dressing. . Sounded tasty and we were pretty excited about it.. but either they forgot to give us the side of it or it was already on the salad so lightly that we couldn't tell. Oh well, end of the night, I'm sure they wanted to go home and yet were still friendly and patient, and everything else was great. They also have a nice selection of margaritas, cocktails, beers and kombucha. A solid 5 stars for the dish I tried. I decided to try the seasonal bowl which was the MOROCCAN BOWL. It had Charissa-braised vegetables, apricot-mint couscous, cherry-apply chutney, almond, cilantro, some sort of curry sauce, and tempeh. AMAZING. It was the coconut-curry sauce that brought it all together, otherwise the dish would have lacked in unity. The textures were so fun like chewing through the soft couscous with bits of nutty almonds. I found myself craving the textures of this dish days after. My nephews loves this place. They like to get the mashed potato bowl with broccoli, corn, and cheese and the quesadilla. I usually find vegan restaurants (Laughing Planet is not strictly vegan, but it is predominately so) to be somewhat boring and their dishes lacking in deep flavor. After a friend convinced me to give Laughing Planet a try, I have to say that I am now a fan. Friendly staff, creative dishes and fresh ingredients made for a great experience. I had the new "Comfort Bowl" which had tons of flavor and freshness. My wife had the Korean BBQ Bowl and it packed some heat and spices in just right proportions (I stole a few bites). I remain a committed carnivore, but I plan on numerous future trips to LP. It really is that good. read more

This is my first time ever eating here because a friend recommended it. I walked in to place an order and the cashier was very kind. Ordered the paleo bowl and a smoothie. Both were incredible. Great meal for the price too, I was plenty full and had a few bites leftover. Full of flavor! I ate my lunch in my car and it smelled amazing for the rest of the day. I have eaten here a handful of times and ALL but once, I had their Bubba burrito, made vegan. The other day, I had the same burrito but with chicken. I'm not a vegan but do prefer the vegan version as it was more flavorful and les dry than the chicken version. Comes with plenty of options and it seems all their menu items can be made vegan or vegetarian but they have endless options for carnivores as well. They also make amazing vegan cookies. I would recommend this place for this burrito specifically. read more

Disclaimer: I am hoping Laughing Planet will open a restaurant in Tucson, which could be a sister city for Bend! Laughing Planet doesn't just do lip service for fresh ingredients and sustainability; it wrote the memo. The Thai bowl with its nutty hunks of tofu and fat broccoli florets over brown rice kept me in protein for two days, even fresh off a three-day camping trip. Options include gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, etc. and (finally!) drink choices to match. My hongry, carnivorous nephew was also sated with an overstuffed chicken Bubba, and I never fail to feel satisfied and positively glowing after visiting the happy, giggling planet.
