On the hunt for some awesome Middle Eastern food. When I found this place online it looked really good. When I drove to the address I was a bit confused. I guess I was expecting to find a café or restaurant, but this place was just a kiosk in a food court. Well, I haven't had very many good experiences with food courts, but I was willing to give it a try. I'm glad I did because the food was amazing. It was very, very good! The service was nice and fast. I ordered a stuffed pita bowl. $17 Falafels, hummus, pickle, cucumber/tomato salad, amba, toom, tahina sauce, fries and pickled green beans were nice and spicy. The salad and veggies were fresh and crisp. The falafels were perfect. The fries were hot and fresh out of the fryer. The sauces tasted amazing. I wasn't let down. I will be back! read more

Ordered the chicken pita and it was way too spicy. I specially said no spice. I asked them about it and they said "that's the way it is, too bad". Mind you, I've had this at least three times and it's been amazing every time with no spice...possibly just the guys working, but regardless, terrible customer service! Do better. read more

I am so happy that Shimson in the Grove continues to thrive, even though I'm very sad the midtown yacht location closed. If you're longing to be in Israel because you're craving Israeli street food, this is your go to fix in Central Oregon. I have never been disappointed and I go here at least once a month. If I had the budget, I'd go here once a week. To be honest, the cashiers often look quite annoyed that they have to take your order (thus the four stars), but the food is always spot on and worth the return. read more

Inside Market Hall at The Grove you'll find the second incarnation of chef Stephen Draheim's Israeli street food inspired Shimshon, the original being a food truck, both co-owned with wife Amy. If you know Market Hall set up, Shimshon moved into the plum 'corner' location that was occupied originally by Left Coast Burger. Note there is a separate page for Shimshon truck Yelp reviews. This is not the truck, this location is the Spring 2023 opened bricks and mortar. The concept is a good one and having enjoyed several dishes, both eat in at The Grove and take away for home, I'd say new-place-kinks have been smoothed out. Jacob, the chef in charge of the kitchen and doing customer service in taking orders on both days of our most recent visits, is doing a stellar job. As a tip: get hummus no matter what else you choose because it is great and made in the Israeli style for being wipeable to eat with pita, flabreads or crudite. I remember listening to Michael Solomonov, the award winning chef who is from Israel and owns renowned Zahav restaurant in Philadelphia saying in Hebrew what translates in English as "Do you want to wipe some hummus?" as one friend would say to another to meet up at a hummus eatery. If I could wave a magic wand: I'd do something different with the flatbread disk that seems griddle top finished. When I tried to find a way to call in or online order in advance to Shimshon for take out, I discovered that is not possible to do and one has to go in in person to place the order and wait on it. But no worries because, as Jacob told us would be so and was, the kitchen is efficient in getting orders filled. And for local Bend friends they join me in HATING the new picnic style tables The Grove owners decided to put in place of the previous tables and chairs down the main concourse here. Might work for the high school crowd to perch during lunch breaks, but not so much for others. And I'd betcha the high school hang out lunch crowd is not the revenue driver for purchases in these inside food court vendors given the prices at all of them of the demographic that is going in to purchase dinners and lunches. I miss Kebaba more than I can say. Shimshon puts "Israeli Street Food" right on their sign. Some of the best meals in my life have been had in Israel so I was pleasantly-surprised to walk into The Grove and find that Shimshon had opened there. Shimson is run by the same accomplished restauranteur who started the successful Barrio. He and his wife's understanding of the Bend food scene and culinary chops are evident in this latest offering. Shimson is a excellent addition to The Grove's collection of fast-casual food options. I had the Stuffed Pita with Romanian Beef (the latter spiced with harissa). This was a flavorful and tangy treat, with hints of pickled vegetables adding their high notes to a grilled umami base. The pita was crispy grilled on one side, and gently browned on the other. Next time, however, I'd probably ask for the fries on the side rather than the default presentation with them inside the pita with everything else. I asked for an extra shot of spicy sauce. As it turned out, the spicy sauce was mild, with heat noticeably less than that of red Tabasco, so even heat-sensitive diners can safely order this option without fear that they won't be able to taste their food through the heat. The Mezze platter is great! I've gotten it with different proteins but the chicken shawarma is the best. Always quick and friendly service.

Now my experience at the Shimshon Yacht club food cart has always been good, but something went terribly wrong at the Grove location. Both my friend and I ate the same kind of Shimshon bowl and we both were sick for days after. Similar symptoms too. Possible food poisoning or something wrong with the food prep there. Be wary when eating there! I missed a whole ski day being sick. Not worth it! read more

Came here from Florida because it was recommended by somebody from Denver. It did not disappoint at all. It was the best food that we ate in Bend. Brooks and Bry were fantastic, attentive to our needs, efficient and polite!! You can never ask for anything more from an employee at a restaurant. We came back the second day of our 3 day vacation and Brooks made us the most delicious Shimshon Bowl with garlic shrimp. We also had Shawarma Tacos. It is better than you can imagine. Brooks patiently listened as we went through the entire menu and allowed us to taste the multiple sauces to see what we liked best. If you're gluten-free, they have a sweet potato flatbread that is outstanding!! Even though we were very full from the large portions, Brooks recommended the dessert and we were not disappointed. We had the Chocolate Chip Tahini cookie. Due to the way Brooks treated us, we're going back tonight for another meal there before we board a plane to Florida tomorrow morning.
