One of the very few restaurants that still has no in-house dining. I really don't mind it and also not willing to sit in their patio area in this heat. The poor rating is not because of this btw. The poor rating is because of the darn rice! A korean-asian restaurant that doesn't know how to prepare rice is a disgrace. Don't they even taste test the rice as soon as its done?! At least over cook and prepare mushy rice than under done. My family of 6 had to eat around the rice so we were still hungry after the meal! My visiting brother in-law from Thailand was disappointed that there was no meat in his curry. Luckily, he had a meat sandwich from the famous beaver gas station so that he could supplement his meal. I later read that it was a vegetarian curry. It was straight up unsatisfying and the worst food experience in his two weeks here. I was curious about the place and names of dishes so I asked. The cashier had no knowledge of what plate names meant, and assumed the owner just made it up. Maybe after our visit and post he'll have more knowledge and/or training about the place of employment. My son had no interest in anything on the menu besides the pork dumplings. They might as well call it gyoza since they seem to favor Japanese words than Korean like mandu. It was busy when we came in, but the line moved quickly. The cashier was informative and funny. The 5 of us order to go, and we didn't have to wait long at all for our food to come out packaged in two bags with complementary miso soup and eating utensils all ready to go. Oh ya, parking is not bad for downtown. As for the food, it was super okay. Your ordinary bowl. They got the flavor down. The spice is good. The sweet and savory tastes are well-balanced. The fish, however, is still on the drier side. The spring mix is ordinary. The sauteed onions are a strange addition that don't quite fit the bowl. The cooked veggies are fine. A friend who went to UT recommended this place to me and since I was in the area and hungry, I decided to come here to try it out. She also recommended the japchei ($7.50) so that's what I decided to get. It does not come with meat so I ordered it with chicken which was $2 extra. I ordered it with spicy and it also included some spicy sauce which I drenched the noodles with because spicy spices up my life. I really liked the noodles and the chicken was good as well. In addition they also have free miso soup! It's delicious, affordable and authentic Asian food. What's there to complain about it? read more

If you've ever wondered how it felt coming home to an Asian household... come to Koriente! Koriente reminds me of Mom's home cooking-- probably any and all Asian moms. The stir fry they make is excellent and fresh, and it just makes me happy. You can't get that kinda feeling anywhere else when you're away from home, yet Koriente somehow encapsulates it. I ordered the Obake Bowl with Beef and made it spicy. You can order "Rice Medallions", but why change a classic? The Obake Bowl comes with button mushrooms, broccoli and carrots. Also, they have teas here! & not just the sweet tea or hot green tea. They have an assortment of different Milk Teas. I tried the Taro Milk Tea and I loved it! The Milk Tea was just okay... Brought my vegetarian niece here and we both loved it. Food is very flavorful. Don't let the pure veggie dishes fool you -- they are really filling. Would definitely return. Service was friendly and prices reasonable. The restaurant is a fast casual, so you're going up to a counter to order but food is brought to your table on real dishes / cutlery. It is very hard for my family to agree on food. Everyone has their preferences and restrictions. My daughter is health conscious, wants to avoid fatty/oily food. My husband is gluten sensitive. I prefer Asian food. My teenage son gravitates towards pasta/noodles/burgers, but also likes Korean/Japanese food. We all agree, Koriente has great food. By now, we have ordered from Koriente more than half a dozen times. Mostly takeouts. The restaurant has dining area but it's not big. Because of Covid, we just err on the safe side and just do takeouts. Combined, we have tried the Spicy Chicken, both Obake bowls and Shiitake Tofu. All tasted very good, healthy, and fresh. All of them, I would order again. As my daughter said to me, this place is a hidden gem. The restaurant's location is not too close to where we live, but we would gladly drive here for food. read more

If I drew a Venn diagram of "healthy food" and "things I love and could eat every week," Koriente would sit right in the middle. This place was a breath of fresh air for me and my friend on our road trip, we needed a lighter alternative to all the greasy (but delicious) meals we had been eating every day. She got the bibimbap and I got the Obake bowl (A), though I felt like I could've picked just about anything and enjoyed it. The food wasn't mind boggling, but it was everything it promised to be-fresh, healthy, and delicious-at a great price. We both got at least 2 meals out of our orders. My coworker and I drove an hour north to get to Koriente, and did not regret it one bit! Parking was not too hard to find as there are ample street parking. However I would say be careful not to leave any valuables in the car as there are wanderers around. The two of us were deprived of somewhat Asian food, and therefore as we arrive at Koriente, we decided to order more than what we can finish so we can take some for the road next day. We ordered the smoked salmon roll and the Koriente pickles as starters, and shared the japchei, papaya salad, and the shiitake mushroom. Lemme tell you - it was a lot of food. To start with my least favorite, which is probably the easiest, would be the papaya salad. I don't think it was that special and the flavor was slightly off. However, I really liked the japchei and the smoked salmon roll. The smoked salmon roll is wrapped in rice paper, like the wrap used in Vietnamese spring rolls. I really liked the mix of texture (crunch with the veggies and soft with the wrap and the salmon). The Japchei was not too oily like some places can be. I also liked that here at Koriente you can substitute rice with japchei, it makes the meal that much better! Not to mention the Koriente pickles tasted very much like the side dishes you'd get at an authentic Korean restaurant! All in all, I had a great experience here at Koriente. Walking in the atmosphere was nice and clean but all the indoor seating was unfortunately closed so we dined outside after ordering. The food was sooo good I'm definitely coming back to dine again, it's on the affordable side of eating out in austin and I hope it stays that way, they give you options of additions and customization your food and actually encourage it which is a nice surprise! The ourdoor dining patio only visits of about 5-6 tables which is fairly limited but since everything is served in togo containers i wouldn't mind sitting anywhere else outside the restaurant to eat or going back to the car, all in all I really enjoyed the food and will be back soon :)) staff was also really nice and patient when we were ordering read more

Small place tucked away downtown. Very small parking lot with 6 spots. Wish they had more parking so it would be more convenient for those of us not on dirty 6th. Also, there are a lot of homeless and other wanderers around the area, so just be aware of your surroundings especially at night. I came here for a weeknight dinner with a friend. I ordered the Obake bowl B with the 'rice medallions' the disc rice cakes that other Korean restaurants put in their tteokguk soup. I personally love these things, so it was a perfect dish for me with a sweet beef, very similar to bulgogi. The dish also has broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms in it. Good proportions of everything and definitely very filling. You can also add an egg or avocado to your dish for a little extra. I wasn't sure if avocado would really go with my dish but the guy at the register (pretty sure he's the owner) offered to give me both and just charge me for the egg. In a word, perfection. First time ordering from Koriente while on a business trip to Austin and literally can't wait to come back next time! I ordered the Japchae spicy with chicken and it was super fresh and delicious. The level of spice for "spicy" was really good, but I'll probably go for extra spicy next time! We came here on Friday, around 5 or so. There was a line to order but moved quickly. Inside is very small and outside is an option but only if you enjoy the hot and humid weather I ordered the Obake Bowl with beef and also ordered the hummus roll as an appetizer. The hummus roll was great. It can fill you up if you don't share It took a while to get our bowls so you know they were busy servicing everyone. You also get to have some miso soup if you'd like at no cost. I think the dishes were tasty but they certainly could use more spice to make it a bit more authentic. I was craving healthy-ish food and Koriente hit the spot. I came here on a Friday around 1 PM and it took 35 minutes from standing in line to getting our food. I was wondering why there was only one cashier, but I feel like it's fairly efficient because then you don't wait for your food for as long and you're not idly sitting at the tables. I ordered the japchae with tofu and egg (they had free garlic on the house), summer roll and $1 boba (some promotion going on - amazing). The food came out quickly and I enjoyed the meal. It was definitely healthy tasting, although I know the rice paper for summer rolls isn't particularly healthy. The boba was surprisingly delicious! This is a great spot if you're feeling something a bit lighter (oil-wise) but the bowls are quite large. Pros (+) Inexpensive: I guess I'm used to SF / NY prices, but I was shocked by how cheap and good everything was. There was also free vegan miso soup and salad for dine-in customers (+) Customization: Everything can be customized with meats and eggs and different dipping sauces, etc. which makes the meal even better. There are plenty of options for vegetarians as well (+) Promotions: Both this garlic topper (free) and boba were on promotion which was a great addition for an already inexpensive meal Cons (-) While the ordering system was efficient, I was probably standing around for ~25 minutes. Within its own quick service fast food category, I think Koriente is at least a solid four, but personally the food itself isn't blow-your-socks off type of amazing... it's just one of those places that if it was on campus, I'd probably go three times a week because it's cheap and good, but probably not one of those places that I'd really crave... if that's even a feeling for describing restaurants... Awesome takeout lunch spot! Went here after a coworker recommended it to me. During the lunch rush, I noticed I had to try calling a few times since I got a busy signal. I was eventually able to place my order over the phone and it was ready in about 10 to 15 minutes later. Definitely recommend getting the shiitake tofu bowl. It's super well flavored and unique. I really had high hopes, ordered for delivery several times. The curry was ok, but the rest, I had no idea what I was eating nor care to try that again.
