I don't know why they call it a fish taco, but it was good , the refried beans was my favorite. The brown rice was OK. It was a little cold ,but it was decent. they also have a bakery. Everything looked good. I didn't try anything. Maybe next time when I come back I will give them a try , but I would totally check them out, even if you're not a vegan!
Great vegan food for vegans and meat eaters alike. It's a bit pricey, but the food is stellar and large portions. Love their desert. They package delivery nicely so it doesnt spill. My go-to Door Dash!

I'm not vegan or vegetarian but this is my go to place when my vegan friend comes into town. Very casual order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. I love the pineapple juice behind the counter. I've had the breakfast sandwich previously but decided to venture out and get the chilaquiles and that green sauce is good. Very zesty. Love that they have black beans bc that's really the only beans I eat. We splurged and got the vegan mole fries and they were so good I had to tell my DF husband about them. I also love bringing home their gluten free bakery items home to my husband as well.
We visited the booth they had at Veg Fest today and we tried a few of their donuts (a HUGE chocolate glazed for $6 and a little gluten free chocolate cake for $2) as well as a kolache (sausage and cheese). All the pastries we tried were super sweet, fluffy, fresh, and flavorful. That donut was not only the best vegan donut I have had, it was the best donut I've had. Period. I am obsessed. I definitely want to go into the restaurant and try more of their cakes and pastries and things.
Came in on Thursday afternoon around 5pm, right during rush hour. Completely empty inside. Girl who helped us was... not very charismatic or caring. Dunno if it was an off day but she didn't really seem to wanna be there. Got an ube bundlet and a vegan "fish" taco. Taco was delish, but $7 for one smallish/medium sized taco? Yikes. Their pastries are more decently priced.
It has been at least 15 hrs since I have eaten here. The space is remodeled and larger. There are more retail offerings. The food and staff os just as i remember it, delicious, fresh and served with a smile and explanations of every dish. The vegan bakery is still the center piece of the space. Conversations can be had without shouting. I will definitely put Mr. Natural back on my rotation, especially for out of town guest and yhe monthly ladies lunch!
I love their vegan desserts, and the staff is incredibly nice! I'd recommend this place to anyone.

1. It's expensive. 2. The atmosphere is no good. 3. They use canola oil in everything. Canola Oil is Hydrogenated Oil. This process includes caustic refining, bleaching, and degumming - all of which involve high temperatures or chemicals that are damaging to the human body. Because canola oil becomes easily rancid and foul-smelling when subjected to oxygen and high temperatures, it's deodorized, turning omega-3 fatty acids into trans-fatty acids. If you're consuming any vegetable oils that are oxidized from heat and light in processing, you are also exposing your body tissues to oxidized or rancid products. This contributes to degenerative diseases (cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, strokes) and chronic inflammation. 4. The herb shop next door - I was okay with the strong odor in the store, and maybe even with the overall overpricing ... but not with being reprimanded... for taking photos... for Yelp...
Mr. Natural's Jalapeño - sausage- cheese Kolache (all baked goods in the case there are vegan) is my favorite Kolache I tried in Austin. The dough is really soft and delicious. That was by far my favorite item there but I also enjoyed the guava bar and vanilla concha. Their mole lacked the complexity of moles I have tried and tasted more to me like a red enchilada sauce. I preferred their baked goods in the case to the food I tried from the actual menu. From the menu items I enjoyed the milanesa sandwich. Simple Ambience but they have a cute kitchen play area for little ones. I thought the service at the counter was nice and friendly.

Veggie burger and fried was good, as well as the "migas" which looked more like chilaquiles but tasted amazing. Many fresh drinks (agua fresca) to choose from, hot bar and salad bar during lunch. You can eat very healthy or indulge. Well worth the trip downtown, has good parking, friendly service and such a calm, unpretentious ambiance. Let's support this 100% Austin authentic business instead of corporate places!

We had lunch at Mr. Natural today at 1:30. It was a clean and bright restaurant on E. Cesar Chavez St. We ordered 2 Tacos with eggs and avocado. There weren't many people, but we still waited for 25 minutes. When the tacos came, we were shocked. They were tiny, and we finished them in two bites, in 20 seconds! The two tacos cost us $10.72! What an expensive meal! read more
This might actually be the best thing I've eaten since moving to Austin!!! These chilaquiles tasted like someone's abuela was back in the kitchen making this from scratch. I was eating it so fast, I had to pause and take a breather. AND THEN I had the Bavarian cream donut, and it was just as incredible. I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. There are so many vegan options, which I love. The staff were all super friendly. The restaurant itself is really cute too. I will say $20 seemed a bit pricey for chilaquiles BUT the meal could honestly feed two people. It was very generous. And the price isn't going to stop me from probably coming back every weekend from now until the end of time. read more

Just dined here with the family and it was very good. It's been around for a few decades and hopefully will remain so. Extensive menu and so flavorful, whether you're a vegan or are just adding a few plant-based meals in your week. I really enjoyed my vegan breakfast here! I chose the breakfast bowl which was the tofu scramble with Daiya cheese and whatever toppings I wanted ($0.50 each), I picked spinach, mushrooms, zucchini, squash, soyrizo, and grilled onions. I also added a side of refried beans. The total cost was less than the vegan cowboy scramble and didn't include potatoes or tortillas, which I didn't care for. It was a large portion and I brought half of it home for dinner! I also took home two slices of cake, the chocolate tres leeches and the coconut. The coconut was BY FAR the better choice, really delicate cake and tasty filling. The tres leches was like a normal chocolate cake, did not have any of the moistness a tres leches usually has, although it wasn't too sweet so that was a plus. It was kind of dry though so I wouldn't recommend that one. I saw they had vegan kolaches and would love to come back and try one! Tons of other options here including tamales to go, a salad bar, etc. Update: I tried both savory empanada options. They weren't my favorite because they were a little bit sweet, so I would recommend getting them if you prefer sweeter flavors! read more

I'm only giving a decent rating because of my experiences in the past were always so good but this time wasn't it. What happened to Mr. Natural? I used to frequent this vegan/vegetarian place in the past when they had their South Lamar location and it used to always be so good. This time was terrible, the employees that work there are very nice but what came out of the kitchen was awful. I got the mole enchilada plate with rice and refried beans. I was anticipating to get fluffy delicious rice as per usual but the kitchen staff sent out very old rice in my order, there were hardened chunks of rice kernels because it had been sitting in the warmer for so long hardening it. It was terrible old rice. I can't believe the kitchen scooped me out such old hardened rice, it was terrible, some kernels were so hardened I couldn't chew it, just awfully old. The mole enchiladas were ok. I must say though, the refried pinto beans are some of the best beans I've ever had, and I'm not even a bean person. The beans are so so good. I can't describe the delectable flavor in those beans but they're so good. The pastries were also a miss. Most of the pastries tasted kind of old and stale. The chocolate donuts are usually pretty good from the times I've had them years back, but this time the chocolate donuts weren't as moist and had kind of an old stale and mold flavor to them. I paid $12 just for the chocolate donuts and they seemed old (moldy taste). The other pastries were kind of stale tasting and old too. The coconut cake wasn't too bad though. And the pumpkin empanada was ok. Overall I paid almost $50 dollars here and I got some very old hardened rice in my food and just not as fresh or as good as this place used to be. I blame the cooks in the kitchen for sending out such old rice, they shouldn't have done that. Very yucky. Hopefully it just wasn't the day for them and hopefully they send out fresher made food other times because this time definitely wasn't it. Kind of wasted $50. But the beans were good. read more
Ok, so I'm not a vegan and to be honest when one of my new co-workers mentioned that she was a vegan and knew a 'really good' vegan place for lunch. Since I was new I didn't make a stink but I was already thinking of places to eat after this. For both satiety and flavor reasons. I won't lie and say that vegan food I've had was bad. I've definitely had some good vegan food but it's always kind of a gamble. Mr. Natural isn't just a restaurant but it's a juice bar/health store/bakery. It's a lot of things. Ordering is clear but can be a little confusing. There's a sign that shows which line to use (ordering/purchasing) but only when it's busy. There was a few of us so by the time it was my turn to order I knew what I was going to get: the Burrito and an agua fresca, something that seemed as substantial as possible. I was surprised, not just about how hefty it was but also tasty-just a little bit of hot sauce, but not any more than a regular burrito. I have to say, very pleasantly surprised. read more

Mr. Natural has a massive selection of vegan baked goods! I've had cupcakes, cake, and apple pie and all were very good. The staff were super helpful when I needed a last-minute order and were able to accommodate. The vibe in the restaurant is super casual, mom-and-pop style. I ordered the Vegan Tofu Migas Plate (to go) and while it was tasty, really wish there was more tofu and less chips. read more

I was a little bit surprised at how expensive the smoothies were at $10 per smoothie. It was good though I'm not gonna deny that and I could tell that the smoothie was all natural with no artificial sweeteners. The menu looks really good and I love to try some of their savory foods next time. Staff was friendly and the interior was spacious and clean. read more
I can't say anything terrible about this place. Came into Austin for a girls weekend and our Airbnb was right around the corner of Mr. Natural. Lucky for me, the lone plant based eater of the group!! I was amazed by all their offerings - baked goods, savory and sweet, and vegan Mexican favorites. They have a fridge full of in house made yogurts and tamales (some non-vegan) and a case of delectable cakes for any celebration! My friend spoiled herself with their salad bar offerings, I ordered the 3 tamale plate which came with salad, rice, and black beans (also offered refried, but I'm a black beans gal). I was STUFFED. Also took to-go two conchas, and hit up the "bake sale": pineapple empanadas and lemon/blueberry muffins. All vegan and gluten free and so tasty! They have an outdoor patio and plenty of seats inside. Both people that helped us were kind, generous, and their smiles stuck with us. Will for sure be back next time we are in the city. read more

Best vegetarian and plant based options on Austin. The food has always been amazing, and they have so many y options for plant based and vegetarian. The atmosphere is calm and chill, and the staff are always so nice. I love eating here. I had the buffet today, but their menu is also great! read more
Mr. Natural is an amazing place. Near wild heaven. They have been around 33 years and are family run. The family is from Monterey, Mexico. Everything here is vegetarian and most things can be made vegan. The food here is primarily Tex Mex. Friendly staff that gave me some useful tips on my stay in Austin. Everything looked good here. They even have an all vegan bakery. I am more of a savory kind of guy than a sweet guy. I went with the Vegan Fish Wrap. It was amazing. Near perfect wrap that I have ever had. They have things dialed here. I am sure will be back again before going back to California. The local yellow bird hot sauces on the table aren't to be missed. Try the ghost pepper one if you dare. read more
