When u walk in, you can do take out or dineIn Inside is big and spacious, fast, friendly service , I got the fish taco. I don't know why they call it a fish taco, but it was good , the refried beans was my favorite. The brown rice was OK. It was a little cold ,but it was decent. they also have a bakery. Everything looked good. I didn't try anything. Maybe next time when I come back I will give them a try , but I would totally check them out, even if you're not a vegan!

Great vegan food for vegans and meat eaters alike. It's a bit pricey, but the food is stellar and large portions. Love their desert. They package delivery nicely so it doesnt spill. My go-to Door Dash!

Vegan Mole Fries

I'm not vegan or vegetarian but this is my go to place when my vegan friend comes into town. Very casual order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. I love the pineapple juice behind the counter. I've had the breakfast sandwich previously but decided to venture out and get the chilaquiles and that green sauce is good. Very zesty. Love that they have black beans bc that's really the only beans I eat. We splurged and got the vegan mole fries and they were so good I had to tell my DF husband about them. I also love bringing home their gluten free bakery items home to my husband as well.

Amazing

We visited the booth they had at Veg Fest today and we tried a few of their donuts (a HUGE chocolate glazed for $6 and a little gluten free chocolate cake for $2) as well as a kolache (sausage and cheese). All the pastries we tried were super sweet, fluffy, fresh, and flavorful. That donut was not only the best vegan donut I have had, it was the best donut I've had. Period. I am obsessed. I definitely want to go into the restaurant and try more of their cakes and pastries and things.

Came in on Thursday afternoon around 5pm, right during rush hour. Completely empty inside. Girl who helped us was... not very charismatic or caring. Dunno if it was an off day but she didn't really seem to wanna be there. Got an ube bundlet and a vegan "fish" taco. Taco was delish, but $7 for one smallish/medium sized taco? Yikes. Their pastries are more decently priced.

Different angle of lunch!

It has been at least 15 hrs since I have eaten here. The space is remodeled and larger. There are more retail offerings. The food and staff os just as i remember it, delicious, fresh and served with a smile and explanations of every dish. The vegan bakery is still the center piece of the space. Conversations can be had without shouting. I will definitely put Mr. Natural back on my rotation, especially for out of town guest and yhe monthly ladies lunch!

I love their vegan desserts, and the staff is incredibly nice! I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful pastry display with vegan and gluten free options.

It is always fun visiting Mr Natural, and I love the food here. The mole enchilada plate was perfect.

Breakfast

Just dined here with the family and it was very good. It's been around for a few decades and hopefully will remain so. Extensive menu and so flavorful, whether you're a vegan or are just adding a few plant-based meals in your week. Veggie burger and fried was good, as well as the "migas" which looked more like chilaquiles but tasted amazing. Many fresh drinks (agua fresca) to choose from, hot bar and salad bar during lunch. You can eat very healthy or indulge. Well worth the trip downtown, has good parking, friendly service and such a calm, unpretentious ambiance. Let's support this 100% Austin authentic business instead of corporate places!

Vanilla concha (vegan)

Mr. Natural's Jalapeño - sausage- cheese Kolache (all baked goods in the case there are vegan) is my favorite Kolache I tried in Austin. The dough is really soft and delicious. That was by far my favorite item there but I also enjoyed the guava bar and vanilla concha. Their mole lacked the complexity of moles I have tried and tasted more to me like a red enchilada sauce. I preferred their baked goods in the case to the food I tried from the actual menu. From the menu items I enjoyed the milanesa sandwich. Simple Ambience but they have a cute kitchen play area for little ones. I thought the service at the counter was nice and friendly.

Breakfast bowl Refried Pinto Beans
Susan W.

I really enjoyed my vegan breakfast here! I chose the breakfast bowl which was the tofu scramble with Daiya cheese and whatever toppings I wanted ($0.50 each), I picked spinach, mushrooms, zucchini, squash, soyrizo, and grilled onions. I also added a side of refried beans. The total cost was less than the vegan cowboy scramble and didn't include potatoes or tortillas, which I didn't care for. It was a large portion and I brought half of it home for dinner! I also took home two slices of cake, the chocolate tres leeches and the coconut. The coconut was BY FAR the better choice, really delicate cake and tasty filling. The tres leches was like a normal chocolate cake, did not have any of the moistness a tres leches usually has, although it wasn't too sweet so that was a plus. It was kind of dry though so I wouldn't recommend that one. I saw they had vegan kolaches and would love to come back and try one! Tons of other options here including tamales to go, a salad bar, etc. Update: I tried both savory empanada options. They weren't my favorite because they were a little bit sweet, so I would recommend getting them if you prefer sweeter flavors!

Vegan chocolate donuts, strawberry donut, coconut cake, pumpkin empanada and vegan lemon madeleines

I'm only giving a decent rating because of my experiences in the past were always so good but this time wasn't it. What happened to Mr. Natural? I used to frequent this vegan/vegetarian place in the past when they had their South Lamar location and it used to always be so good. This time was terrible, the employees that work there are very nice but what came out of the kitchen was awful. I got the mole enchilada plate with rice and refried beans. I was anticipating to get fluffy delicious rice as per usual but the kitchen staff sent out very old rice in my order, there were hardened chunks of rice kernels because it had been sitting in the warmer for so long hardening it. It was terrible old rice. I can't believe the kitchen scooped me out such old hardened rice, it was terrible, some kernels were so hardened I couldn't chew it, just awfully old. The mole enchiladas were ok. I must say though, the refried pinto beans are some of the best beans I've ever had, and I'm not even a bean person. The beans are so so good. I can't describe the delectable flavor in those beans but they're so good. The pastries were also a miss. Most of the pastries tasted kind of old and stale. The chocolate donuts are usually pretty good from the times I've had them years back, but this time the chocolate donuts weren't as moist and had kind of an old stale and mold flavor to them. I paid $12 just for the chocolate donuts and they seemed old (moldy taste). The other pastries were kind of stale tasting and old too. The coconut cake wasn't too bad though. And the pumpkin empanada was ok. Overall I paid almost $50 dollars here and I got some very old hardened rice in my food and just not as fresh or as good as this place used to be. I blame the cooks in the kitchen for sending out such old rice, they shouldn't have done that. Very yucky. Hopefully it just wasn't the day for them and hopefully they send out fresher made food other times because this time definitely wasn't it. Kind of wasted $50. But the beans were good.

Vegan Apple Pie
Kristen N.

Mr. Natural has a massive selection of vegan baked goods! I've had cupcakes, cake, and apple pie and all were very good. The staff were super helpful when I needed a last-minute order and were able to accommodate. The vibe in the restaurant is super casual, mom-and-pop style. I ordered the Vegan Tofu Migas Plate (to go) and while it was tasty, really wish there was more tofu and less chips.

Such a cute place for brunch. I been wanting to try this place since the last time I was in Austin…read more I'm glad I got to try it this time. This place does get busy due to how popular the place is. They don't take reservations, so you have to there to put yourself on the waitlist. While you wait you can order a drink. We didn't since there were other coffee shops I wanted to try. Since everything looked so good on the menu, we asked our waitress what's the most popular. He recommended the chicken & biscuits, cinnamon toast, & the b.e.c sandwich. I ended up getting the b.e.c. sandwich & it was yummy. The sesame challah bun was soft & toasty. The bacon was smoky & crispy. The bacon, pimiento cheese, jalapeño jam, sunny egg, & arugula in the sandwich was the perfect combination for a breakfast sandwich. The potato wedges that it was served with were crispy, well seasoned, & not salty as all. My boyfriend ordered the chicken & biscuit & it was yummy as well. The chicken was crispy & juicy. Paired with the hot honey made it better. The biscuit was fluffy, but I wished it was more buttery. Overall, everything was so good. I'm definitely gonna try the cinnamon toast & other foods the next time I'm in Austin.

Best experience ever!…read more The food was phenomenal. Best meal ever. Service was untouchable. Our server went above and beyond to help us and take care of us. The music and the scene inside the restaurant was pure fun! We arrived on a Saturday night with no reservations and only had to wait for about 30 minutes. As soon as we sat down, I knew this would be special! The inside decor is beautiful and our server was so kind and answered all of our questions and helped us order. It was a group of 4 friends so we decided to order several different plates and share everything. We got the coco buns, pepper shrimp, roti, fish rundown, West Indian curry, wild boar pepper pot, coconut rice, and the fried plantains. I can't decide what was my favorite. The roti was perfect and the curry was the best curry I've ever had. If you have a chance to go here- do not pass this up!! Seriously, the best meal in the best city!

Hey y'all Wag Waan! Nothing funnier than watching a server try to deal with a bunch of fresh off…read morethe plane Trinidadians, and trinis who truly know Caribbean food. *Service- The service here was fine enough. There were definitely some issues, but I think that lays more on the restaurant itself rather than the servers. Sure they know the plates name and what is used to make it, but they couldn't tell us what made it a "Guyanese Roti". Was it a bussup shut? Was it dosti? They had no idea. We sent the jerk chicken back so we could get it cut up into some smaller pieces so we could share it, and the kitchen refused. Which was a little annoying, but what was more annoying was that it took them over 10 minutes to just say no. The staff here is not trained to deal with some real deal Trinis who are gonna rib you and ask questions about the food. *Drinks- We enjoyed all the drinks we had! They were all delicious and we liked that they at least used some Caribbean ingredients in them. The beer section is lacking heavily though. To only offer red stripe as the Caribbean beer is very disappointing, especially since Carib and Stag are sold here in the states. The excuse of it being "too expensive" doesn't sit well when I can go to total wine down the road and get it. *Food- The most controversial part of our meal. We ordered quite a bit after being told everything was shareable, but what we found that to not be 100% true. Certain things like the Wild Boar pepper pot were, but the "West Indies" curry was not. Most of the food was sadly not remarkable and didn't have the spice and flavor it should've had. The most disappointing was the curry, it felt more like a Japanese style curry than a West Indies curry. Barely any meat for the 28 dollars you pay, the flavor was just flat with no spice, and whatdeass is the cabbage there for? I don't want to hark too much, because at the end we still enjoyed the food. But do not come here thinking you're going to get the real deal Caribbean cuisine. *Dessert- I guess we wanted a "likkle muore" and ordered desert. We had the flan and tres leches, and both were delicious. If you want a little something sweet, I'd recommend the flan. It was almost a cheesecake texture and the jam it came with complimented that extremely well. Wasn't too sweet and it was a great end to the meal. TLDR; The food is okay, but at this price it's not worth it. It's not true enough to Caribbean food as we would have liked. If they're playing to "local" tastes, they should stop and serve dishes with the spice, seasonings, and strong flavor that is so synonymous with Caribbean food. I wouldn't come back, nor would I recommend it, especially charging $28 for a curry with 4 pieces of meat, 5 potatoes, and 3 pieces of chana. If you do come; get a drink, get the wild boar and roti, get the flan, and maybe grab a shirt that says "jerk your heart out" on your way out.
