So I want to start with the good and work by way to the bad. Good: the food was delicious! I had the grits and shrimp and was beyond impressed. My friend had the club. She informed me that she liked it. We both enjoyed our food that we took it home. Bad: I've seen many reviews about this places and kept telling my friend we should go, so today was the day and oh were we wrong. The service was horrible. I understand that it a meal after church and everyone and their mama will be at brunch but it an issue when someone who sat after us get their food, leaves and were still waiting on our food. I had to ask the waiter "do you have an idea where my food could possibly be" Here I'm thinking my shrimp is being caught straight from the gulf of Mexico and that why it taking so long. Once we ordered, we waited an hour before the food came out and no one kept us updated throughout the wait. Once our food was almost out, the waiter finally came to say "you're next". Mannnnnnnnnn, ,this small business is straight down to earth and home felt. Immediately upon entering you see a spacious open flowing design with greetings from the owner and her son. I was promptly treated to some coffee which kept flowing without me having to ask about refills. Going off a tip, I ordered the chicken and waffles and MANNNNNN! The flavor was top notch, with a huge serving that two could honestly share. The waffle is a jalapeño and cheddar twist with a side of homemade blueberry butter and Cajun syrup (does have a kick but pair well with butter and food). I'm a firm believer in customer service and small businesses and I'll tell you what, this will be a regular rotation for me and my family even with a new Waffle House being constructed across the street. This is an amazing place - the staff are soooo friendly- they use local everything and they are a local family business! We arrived 30mins prior to closing and it was empty I asked when we walked in if they were still open and they greeted us with excitement and said of course come on in!! This place was busy when I went for lunch on a Sunday. Thankfully my friend and I were seated quickly, but had to wait a few moments for a menu as they were all being used. They have great breakfast/lunch option on the menu. I had a hard time choosing what I wanted to eat because everything sounded so good. My friend decided on the chicken and waffles while I got the huevos rancheros. The food did not take long to come out at all and it was picture perfect (see below). Great portions and very tasty. I really enjoyed my dish and loved the flavor. My friend liked the chicken and waffles as well but noted the jalapeño was a bit overpowering on the waffle. Our water cups were always refilled quickly as well. The customer service was great. The place is small as it's nestled in the corner of a larger shopping strip. They make good use of the space and the cafe has a very homey feel to it. The seating is limited so I can see how wait times can get long. My husband and I really wanted to like this place. This was our second visit and unfortunately we won't be back. We had hoped the first visit was just an off day for them, maybe they were short staffed, maybe it was just a bad day. But it seems like it's the regular for them, the service sucks. 10-15 minutes for drinks, 45 minutes for food which we are okay with IF it comes out like it was just FRESHLY made. Not cold like it's been sitting on a counter waiting to be picked up for a solid 20 minutes. Hopefully you don't need drink refills, butter or syrup or your waffles. We really wanted to like this spot. The online pictures of the food looked inviting, the ratings are pretty good overall and, upon arrival, we were greeted warmly. Sadly, everything went downhill after that. The strikes includes oil floating at the top of my coffee cup, my husband's coffee was served in a novelty llama coffee cup that practically poked him in the eye, long wait time to place an order, even longer wait time to receive the order, husband's food arrived cold, and my order arrived incorrectly. The atmosphere included the manager screaming at the kitchen staff, fussing at the wait staff, the kitchen staff was maskless, some of the wait staff was maskless and there was a lot of hair bouncing around. My husband ordered the chicken & waffles. He received two chicken tenderloins (doesn't resemble chicken) and the worst waffle I've ever had. The chicken was unremarkable but edible, at least. I ordered the pork chops and eggs. The pork chop was delicious. I asked for eggs over-medium but received scrambled eggs. They were barely seasoned but edible. This was such a disappointing experience. We won't be back but hope to save someone else the misery. The place was chaos. My suggestion for them is to develop a system (get training from a well running restaurant) and get better recipes. read more

Nice small hole in the wall over in Spring. Our 3rd time here and it has the best breakfast since we moved to Texas. I especially like the egg in a hole. Perfect every time. My husband ALWAYS gets the crab cake Benedict and I get the crabby patty. OMG a best crab cakes ever! I will say that you can definitely taste that someone in that magical kitchen is making these patties from scratch and you aren't getting some frozen food stuff. The good - the chicken and waffles was excellent, and my goodness, the cajun syrup - fabulous! My husband also loved his Southern Breakfast with the Blue Jam pork. My kids weren't as thrilled with the Belgian waffles. We were a very large party, and in their defense, they brought our entire order (11 people!) out at the same time and it was fresh. So the waffles may have ended up overcooked due to timing. The rest of our party all enjoyed their meals as well. I will say, the a/c has got to be addressed. After using the restroom found a roach crawl over my foot then I had killed him in the bathroom, upon leaving, I saw more roaches spread throughout the restaurant in small nooks that looked like haven't been cleaned in a while. I was really hoping this place would have been a 5 star breakfast place. There are two reasons that I cannot give them 5 stars. I will start off with the good and then go into what needs to change for them to get to 5 stars in my book. Pros: Service was excellent. Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating to my family. We were greeted when we arrived and thanked when we left. Food was really good! We ordered a handful of items on the menu and everything tasted homemade and had lots of the good stuff (cream, butter, etc.) and portions were generous. Cons: Flies... ugh. They were everywhere. We were having to swat them away from our food, table and child. This is a big con for me and a reason I won't be back (until it's addressed by a professional). Slow kitchen... they have a average size menu. But at the end of the day breakfast is usually served fast and typically consist of bread/flour items and eggs. My avocado toast took over 30 minutes. It's literally toast and avocado. They need to figure out their back of house processes and have a quicker execution. I hope they correct these items as as I'd like to return with my family for breakfast in the future and enjoy supporting local businesses. read more
