It's hard to say if this place is overhyped or not. We placed a to-go order at noon on Sunday, seeing that many reviews cited service issues, so we were hoping to have it ready by 12:30. I don't want to get into too much detail about the hassle, but they estimated our order would be ready in 40 minutes, and it took an hour and 40 mins. So that was not very fun. We all thought our meals were okay, with the exception of a sausage and biscuit breakfast sandwich that "would have been better from McDonald's." Despite a promise that the food was coming out "hot and fresh," it was lukewarm at best after a quick drive to the house. I had the crab cakes and they were good--little filler, plenty of meat. It came with a side salad with a balsamic dressing that I didn't order (lol) but it was fine. I'd recommend ordering them if you're eating there. I was told their chicken and waffles and low country boil were really great and worth the hassle, but not many people enjoy putting up with long ordeals to get takeout, so proceed with caution. read more

I visited because of the the reviews. I thought the food was ok. I ordered chicken and waffles with a side of bacon. The bacon was slightly crispy like it, and the waffle was well seasoned. However the chicken didn't seem fresh a lot all. I requested a steak knife to cut through it because the butter knife didn't stand a chance. The chicken appeared to have been reheated (not freshly made) as their were two inconsistent layers inside. I think the menus need to be cleaned/replaced (food stains on the menu, and ink rubbed almost all the way off at the bottom and barely readable). Doesn't give "sanitary". So we walked in, sat down at a sticky table and sticky chairs, got serviced about 5 minutes in... didn't really get too much service after that. The ambiance was... lame and there was no music at all. Made it all the weirder bc it was so quiet to even have a normal conversation. I got the crab cakes Benedict and let me just tell you my soul was satisfied, it was so good, well seasoned, and the egg was cooked to perfection! Kinda bummed we have been here before (pre Covid) and loved it but this visit wasn't great. I had the Southern Benedict and the gravy was delicious but the chicken was overcooked and tasted like it had been frozen for a while. Such friendly staff! Everyone who helped me seemed genuinely friendly. This was my first visit, and I had a couple questions which were answered promptly. I modified my order, and it all came out correctly, though it took a while due to a mix up with the printers (because of the modifications). I was given complimentary dessert for the extra time I waited, which was appreciated. Again, the staff was very friendly! The food was great! I had fried fish which we cut thick and the breading was crispy. The sauce was awesome, too! The cheeseburger was really good, though the bottom bun had gotten soggy (it was a to-go order). By NOT GOOD I truly mean terrible. First let me say that the menu, when done right could be exceptional. However, I have yet to see it And I REALLY tried To give them a shot based on reviews alone. Today is my fourth visit here. We walked in on a Friday at 11:15a and there three other tables of four. Two already had their meals and one was waiting. I noticed, because every time we visit King Blue Jam we wait for an hour for food And today was no different. Did not get our order taken until 50 minutes after being seated. Took another 45 minutes to get food, all while being pleasantly ignored by staff, making it especially awkward, and then getting cold, poor quality food that we could not even eat because it was cold, and also because we never got utensils, even after asking, twice. It was 12:50 when they delivered the bill. Then we got the bill, which for four meals was 70 dollars, 8% tax and surprise! A 15% inflation charge. Not kidding at all when I say that you are taking a risk with this place. Its a nightmare, consistently and its sad. Soooo many of the five star reviews raved about them, even calling them the best they've ever had, and I totally agree. I never order chicken because it's always just dry as a bone - not here! It was tender and juicy and the outside was nice and crispy. Definitely the best I've ever had. I built my own breakfast sandwich and chose bacon as my meat based on reviews saying it was very crispy. I asked Faith, our server, if she recommended it, and she did enthusiastically. Another home run. It was thick and crispy and there was plenty of it on my delicious homemade English muffin. The eggs were so perfectly scrambled, also, not rubbery and dry like so many places seem to want to make them. Our service was awesome. Faith was present and friendly but never overbearing, and she made sure we had everything we needed. Food came out exactly as we ordered it and piping hot. I also ordered a scoop of chicken salad to go because everything else was so good - it'll be my light dinner (because I'm so full from my excellent breakfast!) and I'm excited to give it a try. I ordered the Chicken and waffles, a popular menu item, and rightfully so! I ordered mine all the way (waffle included jalapeño + bacon + cheddar) and enjoyed every last bite of it! Even though an ingredient was jalapeño, the waffle was not spicy at all. It was served with maple syrup and a cranberry side stuffing. Not sure what the cranberry was but it was truly delicious! My friend ordered French toast with a side of breakfast potatoes. The portions of both were great. Although I did not try it myself my friend told me it was great. That amaretto French toast is amazing. My friend and I ordered the French toast and chicken and waffles, then plot it between us. I'm more of a sweet person myself so my favorite was the French toast. I found the blueberries inside it to be a perfect touch. The coffee is also really good. Some cafes don't have the greatest coffee and you need to add a little cream to cut the flavor, but not this place. I almost asked for a cup of Joe to go. My Keto waffle was good, but pretty dense. The sausage was seasoned well with a little heat. Next time I want to try the Keto shrimp and grits! The only reason I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars is that the service was a little slow. It took a good 20-30 mins for our food to come to the table once we ordered and we weren't the only table experiencing long wait times.
