Quite disappointed on this trip Ordered the original ramen, the Broth was salty and fatty. Ordered the miso eggplant, not enough eggplant but had brussel sprouts and bokchoy. I was surprised with those. The crispy chicken was the only thing consistent from Jinya, it deserved the 2 stars. This is a takeout staple for my family for good reason. We don't dine in very often, but on the rare occasion we do, the service has always been stellar. At my most recent visit, our server, Jennifer, had such a great attitude. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and gave helpful suggestions without being pushy at all. Though Jinya is known for their ramen, I actually prefer to order their rice bowls! The Pork Chashu is my favorite item here, and their Tokyo Curry Rice is amazing too. My absolute favorite thing here is the spicy creamy vegan ramen with additional toppings of fresh garlic (free), seasoned egg ($2.50), and corn ($1.50). The broth is so flavorful and it all goes together so well. The addition of the fresh garlic, corn and egg make it so much better. I do wish the tofu was a bit seasoned, because on its own is bland. You should consider that I only got take-out ramen here, so it was probably not as good as eating there in person. You may want to take this review with a grain of salt! I got the black tonkotsu ramen ($17). The price was okay, the portion was okay, and the ramen was okay. The whole thing was mid. Later, my friend told me that Jinya the "McDonalds" of ramen shops and I should have gone elsewhere LMAO The "black" means that it had black garlic oil in it, but for some reason, there was not enough of that garlic flavor for me to justify calling it a "black" ramen. I don't know if the chopped garlic wasn't toasted enough or whether the amount of the black garlic oil was too little, but it wasn't garlicky enough. The broth was mild in flavor. It looked creamy enough, but maybe it was diluted down to stretch it more? I have a feeling that if you stuck the broth in the fridge, it wouldn't solidify (which is a clear indication that it's either been diluted down or the pork bones to make it weren't cooked long enough). We're in Houston, there are SO many good ramen places, so I wouldn't come back here again. Not awful, but not great, just meh. read more

Fortunately, my hotel is down the street and I made my way there as soon as I could after getting out of the airport! Ambience is one thing but happy team members? Effusive and joyful team members? Man, that is another level! The guy who served me was spot on fantastic. Jinya Ramen Bar has been our 'bar' for ramen for so many years, back when we lived in Cypress and there was no Jinya Ramen bar close, we had to drive to Bellaire to get our Jinya ramen... then a Jinya opened within minutes of our house in Cypress, and then we moved... but not after becoming recognized regulars of that location. Now there are several Jinyas aound the Houston area, and even the one we have to drive to in Spring isn't too terrible a drive. My son and I love it. My husband thinks of it as an overpriced soup, but he has never been a fan of good food, give him a Big Mac and he is happy. SMH. Anyway, I will take this soup over every other soup / ramen between here and the Spring location, and trust me, there are several options if I were worried about that bit of distance. And now, even better, Jinya has a rewards program. I would definitely recommend Jinya over any other ramen place any day of the week. and some might say that this ' soup ' is overpriced, or maybe they would say it's too hot outside for ramen... not true. Without a doubt, I love coming to this location! Every time I come in, the experience is always great as expected from the consistency of the food to the amazing service and cleanliness of the place. The apps have to be one of my favorite things to order other than the obvious, Edamame and Vegan tacos that are out of my norm but can appreciate the flavors to make something so tasty. We were seated pretty quickly despite the crowds, but that did mean we had to sit at the bar...this didn't allow us to sit together around a table like a family, which was a bummer. What I did like was the variety of vegetarian and vegan options, including two delicious-sounding ramen bowls. I got the Flying Vegan Harvest, which was a giant bowl of ramen in a creamy broth full of tofu, broccolini, corn, onion, and Beyond Meat crumbles. The meal itself was delicious, One thing that seemed strange was that when we left, we weren't saluted with the loud "ARIGATO!" that almost all customers received when they left. I visited with friends on a Friday evening, and we had a great time. We ordered the crispy chicken and crispy rice with spicy tuna for appetizers. They were really tasty. For dinner, I ordered the shrimp wonton ramen, and it was AMAZING. Service was okay and could've been better, but it was a busy Friday evening and the restaurant was a bit chaotic, so it's understandable. I also loved their drink menu. My friends had several cocktails and all of them enjoyed their selections. The food was delicious and fairly priced. Price - Inexpensive, Ramen was about $12-$13 a bowl. However, it can add up if you order a lot of side dishes. 3. Ambiance - High ceilings, very cool atmosphere. Excellent service from Nicholas (5064) and recommendation for making the new chicken wings "extra crispy" - delicious. Got the spicy Tonkatsu and he brought an extra lil bowl of prepared hot sauce. So fun to add. And he let me know it disnt come with an egg so I added... BEST EGG EVER. His rapport with every customer was light, fun, and cheerful. What a delightful addition to Jinya. I have only ever been to this JINYA location, but it is so cute and clean inside! The restaurant is on the smaller side and was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night. We were lucky to grab a spot at the high top before a large party came in behind us. The service overall was great - the food came very quickly and the waiter was very helpful and attentive. Everything my friends and I ordered was AMAZING! I got the JINYA Tonkotsu Black, which I highly recommend. The broth was seasoned really well, and the egg was cooked perfectly. I am kind of picky when it comes to noodles and I thought they were also cooked very nicely. My friends ordered the Chicken Ramen and the Tonkotsu Original - both were also delicious.
