Why 4 stars? Because this was a great pre-concert choice. --- --- --- I bookmarked Local Public Eatery as soon as it opened and have wanted to check it out for a while now. I was going to a Dave Matthews show at the Pavillon and wanted to grab dinner beforehand, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity. I got to Market Street about an hour and a half before the concert started, and quickly became really nervous when I discovered the Market Street was apparently now Grand Central Station in New York City. Every human being on Earth was also here and the area was buzzing. After hunting forever, I finally got a parking spot and hustled down to the restaurant, only to be told it would be a 30 minute wait. Not good! However, just in the time it took me to sit down and scan through my phone for a last minute pivot to a new restaurant, my name was called. My 30 minute wait turned into a 5 minute wait and it could not have been more clutch. But because I was still in a bit of a hurry, I was ready and ordered the Trophy Burger as soon as my server came to greet me. And as was the theme of the night so far, said trophy burger was at my table within a few minutes. And because this was a solo mission for me, said trophy burger was in my belly in only about the time it took for them to cook it. My thoughts on the burger is that it was perfectly 4-stars. In between average and amazing. One thing that really stands out is that it was a messy undertaking. Don't eat this on a date before you're comfortable with the other person seeing you with sauce constantly all over your face and spilling onto your plate. Everything was all happening at such hyper speed that I even had time to order the dessert. I love Reeces, so when I saw a Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cup on the menu, I couldn't resist. You'll never believe it, but it was on my table within 2 minutes. My rating for this ranges from bite to bite. Some bites were amazing and others were just okay, depending on which ingredients were within that spoonful. Overall, I wouldn't need to order it again, but no regrets on trying it out. This is a nice addition to Market Street, and the back-of-house deserves a healthy share of the tips with how on top of it they were during a night with a packed house! read more

Great for a Saturday night meal and chill. Plenty of seating indoors and out, parking to the back of the building and on the street. Our server Jenna was wonderful and made our night an ease. We got moscato sampling as we entered which was really good. She also gave us some ideas of the crowd's favorite of which we tried a few. The shrimp and pork dumplings and not like your typical Asian dumplings but they were so good. The fried chicken ramen was good, although I thought the chicken (that was given on the side) could use a little seasoning. Also the BBQ rice bowl was tasty and filling although it looked like a small serving. We had both desserts that were equally delicious and the drinks I'd recommend the watermelon sling and the pink spritz. Ordered the bbq chicken pizza to go and was not disappointed at all. The waitress outfits (tank top and mini skirt) combined with the inside composed of almost all high chairs makes it look and feel like a bar for sure. My kid didn't care for the sauce on the avocado Benny but I thought it was pretty good. My steak and eggs brunch was good and I just love those crispy pave potatoes. It takes them 2 days to make. I had a wonderful time at Local Public Eatery. We sat outside on a beautiful Saturday morning. We were offered a taste of rosè to start. I ordered the spicy guava margarita which was delicious. Perfectly balanced and not too sweet. I ordered the crudite and dip trio to start. All of the dips were so delicious but especially the truffle honey dip and the blue cheese Parmesan dip. I ordered an extra side of each. For our mail we split the fried chicken sandwhich and truffle fries. It was so good. The bread, sauce, pickles, everything was perfect. I visited this restaurant / cocktail bar to try out one of their sandwiches since I heard it was very good. Inside is like an upscale dive bar with a shuffleboard table and dim lighting, but also strangely enough family friendly. It is kind of loud in here, so I wouldn't think this would be a great first date spot unless you just like to yell. During my visit, they had a table set up once inside the door to promote their house rose. I tried a sample which they let you take to your table. It was okay, but I'm not a big rose drinker. The front of their large menu is a detailed and thorough drink and happy hour menu. A lot of thought probably went into developing this as not only do they have several mocktails and coffees, but they also have a section of mixed cocktail and mocktail concoctions if yoy want the alcohol but a lighter drink. I've never even seen this before. The rear side is brunch and regular food menu. Their dessert selection is the smallest section of the menu. I went with the spicy chicken sandwich which was nearly $20. I sure hope it's delicious. Some interesting dishes include a tandoori chicken pizza, prime NY steak enchiladas (a splurge for $73), fried chicken ramen and steak and dumplings. There is an obvious Asian influence on some of their menu items. Sandwich - this is a tall but small sandwich with lots of shredded cabbage and pickles. The actual breast is small and has a lot of breading. It was not spicy in the least for me. Half way through I just ended up leaving the bread and eating the breast alone. I feel this sandwich should have been no more than $16 since it didn't have any premium toppings like bacon or cheese. Fries- shoestring like fries but do not seem fresh cut. At least they were hot when the plate came out but got cold rather quickly. Service was pretty decent though but I was sitting at the bar area and constantly in front of a server. Overall I would definitely return due to the atmosphere, but I'd certainly try a different item on the menu. Mostly likely the steak and fries aka steak frites at other restaurants. read more

I visited Local for lunch today. Im not sure if the reservation was mandatory but I saw it as an option so I made one. During lunch, they were not crazy busy. My friend and I both ordered sandwiches. From the moment I walked it, I was blown away by the alluring patio. We went to celebrate a friend's birthday on a beautiful day and we sat outside on the patio. Their patio is covered with fans so you always have a nice breeze. They also have plenty of tv's to catch the latest sports playing. I ordered the Ahi tuna Poké bowl with blackened and shrimp. First of all, the service was really great. Sometimes, I can be indecisive and all over the place but our server Genesis was very kind and patient which I always appreciate a lot. I got a BBQ rice bowl which was really delicious! The woodlands doesn't have any Korean restaurant so it was such a treat for me. My husband's sandwich was just ok, he said. Fantastic! I wish I got more pictures but we were there in the early afternoon and then the night as well and the staff and food was just spot on! The service team/waiters/waitresses demonstrated great team work and the food was awesome! Another time I will share more about there food because I can't give details like I'd normally do because we were with like a party of 8 most of the time and sharing dishes, etc. it's not cheap but the weather was nice and sitting outside was amazing! We arrived on a reservation on a Saturday and were promptly seated. The food, from start to finish, was excellent. We started with Spicy Garlic Edamame. It was sweeter than some places, but really enjoyable. I ordered a BBQ chicken pizza. The crust was just perfect and I ate more slices than I should have because the pizza tasted so good. My husband had the Ahi Tuna Poke Rice Bowl which was also very good. The service was shaky. At first it was great. But our first round of drinks (cocktail and beer) were empty before our meals came, so we ordered a second round and they came after we were done eating. In addition, we received a note from Open Table saying we hadn't shown up for our reservation-we of course we had, and we told the hostess when we arrived. It wasn't a big deal to correct it with Open Table-but was just a little annoying that we had to. In any event, overall, the food was excellent and we'd not only return but I recommend it. What a great new place to try out! Located in Market Street at the old La Madeleine's location. This place has a great outdoor seating area that has fans to keep you cool in the summer and heaters to keep you warm in winter. The first time we visited this place was during the first couple weeks of opening and the experience was great in terms of service and food. However, the wait outside was a bit disappointing as they expect you to wait within a few feet of the entrance to hear your table called. We sat right outside within earshot and didn't hear the hostess because she was whispering (I kid you not!). Anyway, we loved it otherwise because the food was amazing and we understand things like this get better overtime. Fast forward to yesterday, we visited again, they gave us a free glass of wine to greet us, sat us right away (we were there at 3PM). They have switched the menu around... and some of the items that we had really enjoyed in our previous visits are now no longer on the menu! It was so disappointing. The Crying Tiger chicken was literally the reason we were going there and it's no longer on the menu because it "wasn't a popular item." We were distraught over this as it had amazing flavor profile and was different than anything served at other restaurants. What's left on the menu is basic and the same stuff you can get at other American restaurants - however, that's not to say it isn't good, because it is. The burger I had was excellent, the pizza was crispy and delicious. The big Ceasar salad was a little dry and the dressing seems to have been changed into something spicy? It was better the way I remember it the first time. Will we come back? I'm not sure. Maybe for the burger! But it's not a place that I'll rave about as the special factor on their menu seems to have been diminished. I still give it 4 stars for overall service and quality of food. read more

Husband and I decided to eat here as the restaurant was new to the Woodlands in Market Street. We liked the vibe, food & drinks. We noticed that the waitress and multiple hostesses were constantly checking up on us and asking the same questions as the waitress (how's the food, is everything ok and do you want another drink). It was hard to relax and just enjoy our food with all the questions. Found out that the restaurant had only been open a week, so, we kind of think this is why there were so many interruptions. Horrible experience from start to finish. We went Saturday around 2:30 PM, just me and my girlfriend. Right away things felt off. The host was stationed outside, even though it was about 50 degrees and very cold. When I asked for a table for 11, her attitude immediately changed. She asked if we had a reservation, and when I said no, she visibly seemed displeased. She checked her iPad and said she could "make it work" but it would be about an hour wait, which normally would've been fine. However, when we tried to go inside to wait at the bar and grab a drink, she stopped us and said "you can't go inside." I've never experienced that at a restaurant before. Her explanation was that "the bar is full." I asked if they could text us when the table was ready, and she said they don't do that. So the expectation was that we stand outside in the cold for an hour. What made this even worse was that we weren't the only ones. While we were waiting, multiple other groups showed up and were also told they had to wait outside. Every group looked visibly upset. By the time we were finally called for our table, there were around 15 people huddled together outside, trying to stay warm. It honestly looked ridiculous and poorly managed. When we were seated, the table was set for 10 instead of 11, and when we mentioned it, the response was essentially "you'll have to squeeze in and make it work." No apology, no effort to fix it. A manager came over and the interaction was awkward and unhelpful. She asked if there was a problem, I explained everything that had happened, and she made minimal effort to address it or offer a solution. At that point, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. As we were walking out, the manager asked why we were leaving. I told her honestly that the experience had been terrible from the moment we arrived. I again suggested implementing basic waitlist texting technology, and she said it wasn't "that easy" because there are "too many owners," which made no sense. Overall, the place felt like it was trying way too hard to be exclusive, which is strange for a neighborhood pub. Poor attitude, poor systems, and poor management response. read more

I ordered Bobby's House Lager although they have an extensive cocktail menu. Happy Hour starts at 3 pm but I was too early so I'll return for that someday. I got the shrimp and chicken steamed dumplings and OMG they were so tasty!! I followed that with a grilled chicken satay salad with peanut sauce and a lime vinaigrette along with a side of crispy sweet potato fries. I loved all of it and while I wanted to try the chocolate and peanut butter cup for dessert, I was so full, I couldn't eat another bite. I will return and heck, maybe this time I'll eat dessert first! The wait staff was so welcoming and helpful with ordering. Additionally when a pop-up thunderstorm quickly hit the edge of the patio where I was seated, they helped me move inward so I could continue my meal. This place gets a big thumb's up! read more
