I come here a few times a month and generally do take out. I've been eating here for about 3 years. I've eaten in the restaurant once and it was good. The food is great but pretty pricey for takeout. The "Chinese" take out is excellent. Orange chicken is a standout, and they do excellent noodles like the Lo-Main. Chicken, and Beef Fried rice is also excellent. The sushi is pretty solid as well, and my wife if a fan of some of the more high-end rolls. It is always ready on time or early. The young lady at the front is always there and does an excellent job. After 3 years we decided to give this place another try. The stellar reviews on yelp and Google had us optimistic. Sadly, the food is even worse than the first time we tried. We got the spicy tuna roll, and the crunch roll, tonkotsu ramen, and gyoza. The rolls had a very stale seaweed in them. It was so chewy we almost choked. The crunchy roll was doused in a super sweet sauce which overpowered the crab and avocado. The tonkotsu had an off putting taste and came with 2 very thin, very dry slices of chashu. The gyoza was nothing memorable and the cosmopolitan I ordered was watered down juice in a glass. We won't be returning. For $70 the quality of the food MUST improve. read more

Came on a Sunday evening with my family. I would say pretty kid - friendly. The atmosphere was very clean and welcoming. Service was attentive. My husband got a Firecracker Roll and a Godzilla roll. Both were made with care and precision. The flavor was robust but not over powering. They both were cooked rolls and the crispy ness on the outside was really good. Presentation perfect. Why 5 stars? Because this was the best ramen I've had in the area. --- --- --- I think I bookmarked Sam Ramen about 2 years ago. Every time it gets cold outside since then, I've thought, "I should check out that Sam Ramen place," but then I don't, and next thing you know, it's summer and I don't want ramen anymore. But finally, I was determined to come check it out, despite it being a pretty warm February day. I was a bit congested and just like all doctors advise, I thought ramen would be the best medicine. Since moving to the area about 2.5 years ago, I've had ramen at a few different places and have been disappointed each time. I'm not sure if it's just the nature of living in the suburbs or that too many places are attempting to master a concept that requires more work than they're willing to admit, but either way, the subpar experiences have almost ruined ramen for me. Almost. Sam Ramen, thankfully, was anything but subpar. Was the tonkotsu the best ramen I've ever had in my life? I can't say that, but I've also had ramen in Tokyo aka the mecca. But this was definitely my favorite to-date in the Houston area and it hit the spot perfectly. Probably the one nitpick is that I like a thicker noodle, but the flavor of everything was pretty perfect. My wife ordered some edamame and some sushi, which I also indulged on. Edamame would never be my choice, but did I eat like 100 of them? Absolutely. She also let me have some of her Shaggy Dog roll, which was solid, but not as great as the ramen. Spicy for sure but manageable! I'd say it's about as strong as spicy Jin ramen. Great mix of noodles (on the softer side) and fresh toppings too. I'd suggest getting an extra marinated egg too, I really love that they aren't the sweet kind. My parents had shrimp lo mein and veggie miso ramen and they said both dishes were flavorful. Came here for lunch on a cool day with a friend. This place was clean and quiet on a weekday. Our waitress was attentive and gave us great recommendations. They have a lunch special with sushi rolls but I wanted to give their ramen a try this go around. Their spicy miso is a fan favorite but I wanted something with seafood so I went for the spicy seafood Korean style ramen. It was definitely spicy but not overbearing. If you love your stomach don't eat here! I ordered today a ramen and it made me sick. I had to vomit while I was driving. I have a very strong stomach and this is the second time in my whole life that I get food poisoning. I managed to vomit on my polo shirt but unfortunately my car got messed up. I'm in love!!! A new spot opening up in our Neigbor H‑E‑B shopping center and I cannot be happier. Inside is very clean and modern looking. Lots Of booths to pick from or tables. The curry spicy miso soup was perfectly spicy and delicious. We went with the super crunchy roll, the texas roll( so creamy), and California roll, all great. My first impressions, quite honestly I was not expecting much. I came in with the mindset that this would be another Ramen / Sushi place that taste like the rest, but oh BOY was I wrong. The server was absolutely amazing, immediately sat us and took our drink order right then and there. We pretty much knew exactly what we wanted prior to coming in, just based on what we were craving and oh my gosh did it all taste absolutely amazing. The Ramen had to be one of the most flavorful and perfectly portioned sized ramen that I have ever had. The taste of the umami, mixed with miso, and the perfect amount of spiciness was just killer. Not only that, we ordered some sushi and oh my goodness did the Tuna taste fresh. I most definitely will be coming back here during their lunch hours because this fish that they serve here is FRESH and DELICIOUS. My wife and I have been waiting for Sam Ramen to open for a long time. Our first visit did not disappoint. We strickly came in for ramen although we do love sushi and well pretty much every other option on the menu. We both ended up choosing the same ramen this visit, the Garlic Black Bean Ramen. It was very tasty, I know people are very picky about their ramen as we are too. We do have our favorites and definite not favorites. That being said this is up there with our favorites! Great flavor, not a one note broth. The chashu was fall apart and smoky. If one suggestion, the soy egg needs more marinating and less of a boil but remember the restaurant is a day old they are still growing. Since that visit we have gone back today. I always have my wife choose the sushi and rolls and she keeps track of the ones we have at different locations to remember which we love and do not love. So tonight we had appetizers, sushi, rolls, and I had a different bowl of ramen. I'll say mine first which was the Tonkotsu. Great buttery flavor in the broth along with even more smoky chashu the egg is improving (Not as hard of a boil) I do wish it were a whole soft boil egg, I love that opening that and the creamy yolk mixing with the broth. Appetizers we had were the egg rolls and Yakitori which OMG! Yes 2 dozen of both please! My wife ordered the sushi for both of us. Nagiri was Hamachi and Unagi both were very fresh and large. We both would like a little more sauce on our Unagi but it still tasted great. As for rolls we had Philladelphia, Pasadena, and Snow White. I won't go into great detail about them but all were very good, both of our favorite of those would be the Snow White. I'm sorry we didn't take pics of all, we dug in because they looked delicious and forgot to take a pic... next time. I know some love to complain about this and that when a new place opens but they don't think there is a learning/growing curve and give them a chance oh yeah and don't be ignorant... a little understanding goes a long way. Trust me we showed up a little after 8pm opening night and were turned away because they ran out of a lot of items and instead of saying sorry all we have is this or that they would rather you come back and enjoy the full menu. We came back the next night which was our first visit detailed above. Give them a shot because they will not disappoint. Since this visit we have been visiting almost weekly. I also had to dispute with my bank because they took it upon themselves to tip more than I left. It's not a crazy amount they changed but it's the principle and honesty of a business that matters.
