Was in the area for work and decided to find a sushi spot nearby. It looked like a fairly mom and pop spot alongside the freeway between the Woodlands and Spring. Plenty of free parking out front and a cozy interior. Service was good and their menu, although way too large for its own good, had diversity between sushi/sashimi/rolls and hot entree options. The rolls are mainly a fusion style (looking at you, cream cheese) and feature some sort of teriyaki / eel sauce as you would expect. we also got some sashimi and nigiri. The knife work on the sashimi honestly wasn't the best but everything tasted fresh and was prepared pretty well for a neighborhood joint! They even had fresh grated wasabi, which was a plus.

I almost feel like I shouldn't write a review, because I have yet to dine in the establishment. I've only ordered for pickup, but I will say that they have the food ready as soon as they can. I like the shaggy dog. I also like how the people seem honest- the girl who worked there said that the wontons don't have much crab and are mostly cream cheese. I appreciate the honesty because I would be annoyed if I ordered and didn't know that before hand. But back to ordering for pickup--It takes me about 20 minutes to come here and the food will be ready and waiting in a bag with the chopsticks and everything that I need. They do take your credit card information over the phone the first time you order, which feels a little sketchy because you have to read your whole credit card information instead of typing in somewhere but it's fine because I guess it's a way for them to ensure that the food will be paid for before you pick it up.

more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. at my prior company based in the woodlands, all the expats typically came here for dinner/lunch. They were all japanese, so i don't know if that means there's a lack of japanese food options in the woodlands, or that this place is really good. i decided to give it a shot for lunch, and came here right when it opened. we ended up getting two entrees, one where we got two rolls of sushi and a chirashi bowl. we also got two pieces of tamago nigiri. The rolls were not too bad, but the chirashi bowl was the better item out of the two. It definitely wasn't the freshest fish i've had.The best thing about the chirashi bowl was the size. i couldn't believe for the price i paid, how much fish/rice i got. service was great, and attentive.

My favorite hidden gem. This sushi restaurant is tucked into a strip off the I-45 feeder road. Inside the restaurant is dimly lit with lots of seating and even has kids art on the wall which is very homey. I have been coming here for over 10 years as a regular. The staff is very polite and service is always quick. My group typically orders in rounds so there's always something new and fresh coming out. You can't go wrong with any food on the menu. My personal must order is the escolar nigiri which is easily the best I have ever had. The fish is fresh and served with caramelized garlic on top giving it the yummiest crunch. The crab puffs are the best as well. I love how light the wonton wrapper is compared to other restaurants cakey crab rangoons. They are perfectly crisp and bite sized served with delicious orange dipping sauce. If someone in your party is not a fan of fish they will love the gyoza. Their flavor is incredible so everyone at the table will probably want to try one. Their happy hour from 3 - 7 is awesome and they even have reverse happy hour if you miss it from 8:30 - close. I visit every time I return to The Woodlands so I'll certainly be back!

    Excellent meal.

    Ask the Community - Fukuda

Do they have a happy hour?

Sorry! Don't know if they do have happy hour. Did ordered drinks there and the food was petty good.

Do they have all you can eat deals?

They do not but they are truly the best in Japanese Food in the area and make it their business to create sushi for even people like me, vegan. They are higher priced but go to relax and enjoy the service, the vast choices and authenticity.

Do they have a good selection of vegetarian sushi?

Yes and they are perfectly willing to work with you on what they put in your rolls.

But later in the meal I did hear her talking in the back with a man in Chinese about how a customer was complaining about a small bone in l their food. Guess she doesn't know I speak Chinese. At the end of the meal, I asked our waitress if she was the owner. She said no, quickly followed by a "the owner is not here today". Then I asked whether the owner was Chinese. Super duper long pause, followed by a soft spoken yes. Well, my favorite place in Memphis is also Chinese owned. I think many of the Japanese restaurants are. Ah well.

Our guy accidentally flung the two pronged pointer to the side and it fell on the ground. He then picked it back up and continued the juggles instead of getting a new one. Then he moved onto the egg tossing and tried to get it to land on the side of one of his utensils. He failed three times in a row and gave up. At least we had lots of egg in the fried rice? He moved onto rice flinging into the customer mouths. The tosses were really bad and it kept landing short onto the table and on the customer clothes. As a finale, he did the onion volcano with a train whistle except the flames wouldn't stay on for longer than half a second each ignition. Very weak performance. Hibachi Shrimp ($23.95) Overcooked and rubbery. Not all the shrimp had been properly deveined and deshelled. The mushrooms as part of the veggies were also not properly washed as there were still bits of dirt on them. Hibachi Steak ($23.95) Server mentioned this was a ribeye cut. I'll let you decide from the pictures. Also ordered it medium rare but it came out medium well at best. Oh and the steak was also cut with the same two pronged pointer that had previously fallen on the floor. Performance, cleanliness, cooking were all bottom level. Family couldn't even finish the meal with how tough the proteins were. Maybe because gratuity was already charged, no extra effort was made?

I got the black tonkotsu ramen ($17). The price was okay, the portion was okay, and the ramen was okay. The whole thing was mid. Later, my friend told me that Jinya the "McDonalds" of ramen shops and I should have gone elsewhere LMAO The "black" means that it had black garlic oil in it, but for some reason, there was not enough of that garlic flavor for me to justify calling it a "black" ramen. I don't know if the chopped garlic wasn't toasted enough or whether the amount of the black garlic oil was too little, but it wasn't garlicky enough. The broth was mild in flavor. It looked creamy enough, but maybe it was diluted down to stretch it more? I have a feeling that if you stuck the broth in the fridge, it wouldn't solidify (which is a clear indication that it's either been diluted down or the pork bones to make it weren't cooked long enough). We're in Houston, there are SO many good ramen places, so I wouldn't come back here again. Not awful, but not great, just meh.
