    d. Pork Tantan-Men

I've been to more ramen places than I can count, and I can confidently say that this one is nothing special whatsoever. In fact, it's one of the worse ones I've been to throughout my life. The atmosphere of the place is nice and the staff are friendly, but it doesn't make up for the fact that the ramen is below average. I got the Pork Tantan-men, and it was the better out of the two my sister and I got. My sister got the Kakuni Old Fashion. Both of the broths were flavorless and lukewarm. The Pork Tantan-men's broth was better only because of the spice. The bowls also took forever to come out and our meats were straight up cold. However, the Takoyaki was pretty tasty compared to other places, which I can say confidently because I order takoyaki from every Japanese restaurant I go too. The outside was crispy, the inside was soft and filled with octopus. It was cooked very well in general. Overall, I would not recommend for anyone to come here over the other places I've been. However, if it's a last-resort for hunger, this would be acceptable.

Placed a Togo order. Restaurant is cute, clean, and inviting. Service was speedy. Presentation of food is good, they did a good job packaging everything. Gyoza were delish! I will definitely be returning to get those. Ramen was good but I do agree with others that the broth lacks flavor. Since I brought mine home, it was easy for me to add my own flavorings. I had enough food to eat the next day for lunch. Overall it was pretty good.

Wow! Hidden gem! Have you tried their takoyaki? Best you can get around here! Was nervous to try it here because so many others make bad takoyaki. This was so tasty! Seasoned very well! Sushi was super fresh and good! I'll be back!!

I hadn't been here in a few years, but it looks mostly the same. A few people came in at 6pm to eat dinner on a weekday. The chicken paitan ramen was okay. The broth was a little weak in flavor and the chicken dry but overall wasn't disappointing. The tantan pork bowl was somewhat okay. The rice, pan-fried egg, broccoli, and green onion were good, but the pork mixture was not as dry and meaty as I expected. The meat was just too moist even though the fermented mustard flavor and pieces were fine. I wonder if they've had an ownership change as the staff isn't the same as when they first opened. While most of the decor remains as it was, there seemed to be a breakdown on what should be done when running an eatery. They put the cheap pink soap into the foam dispenser, which causes it not to work anymore. So the large value size bottle was left on the floor so you could pour it into your hands. They need to invest in a pump dispenser.

We decided to try this place. The people are very nice but the food Iis not it. There broth is flavorless. The noodles were chewy and not fresh. The beef I paid extra for was like processed roast beef slices. Its not the worst but it is definitely no where near the best.

Nice, clean dining area, amazing food and nice staff. Would fully recommend to anyone looking for a quick lunch or dinner. I've had ramen at other places and daikoku is hard to beat in the spring/woodlands area.

I arrived at this establishment originally because it was easy enough to enter into. Having just had a foot surgery, my mobility had significantly diminished and of course made it hard for me to walk great treks. Hector, (the really awesome chef) went out of his way to take my family and I's order despite being an ~order at the register~ kind of set up. His kindness went miles for us, in keeping conversation and being so attentive to our needs. We don't forget kind acts like that, and will surely be back again! And speaking of food, it was delicious and comforting! The classic tonkatsu was more than generous with its portion of pork belly and the broth was thick and flavorful! Only recently have they added sushi to their menu, and I wouldn't have guessed! Their fruit roll was so tasty and well paired with Hector's original ponzu sauce creation!

Currently living in Dallas but I'm SO glad I stopped here after picking my mom up from the airport! The menu had everything you could want (except for sushi- which we heard from an employee will be added to the menu soon so be on the lookout!). We got an assortment of small plates and full size dishes including ramen, bao buns, tempura, and soba! The kakuni was delicious and we were surprised by how good the ramen was! The restaurant itself is super low-key and casual which I honestly was so relieved about considering I had my newborn and toddler with me. We stopped in later in the afternoon (not quite lunch or dinner time) so there were only two other customers- everything was served quickly and the server was really accommodating and polite! It's a great spot for families and couples! Probably won't be back for a long time given I'm not from the area, but if I was I'd probably be here all the time!

Daikoku is our new favorite local ramen joint. We eat there twice a week. The spicy ramen is amazing and service is always on point. The atmosphere is perfect for us.

This is a hidden gem in the woodlands/spring area! I have nothing but nice things to say about this place! It's very no frills, but great flavors, friendly staff, and a very clean restaurant. In honesty I wish they were open till at least 10, but that's me being picky. Their broth has great body and texture to it and it pairs well with the noodles. I have not ever had a bad meal here. I always get appetizers, spring rolls are totally worth it, and edamame! It has a very Japanese rating style design on the inside and reminds me a lot of the walk up places in Tokyo. Absolutely worth trying, and or mobile ordering!

Pretty disappointing. Came in here due to the good reviews but were heavily disappointing. The staff was very nice and pretty helpful but the food just wasn't satisfactory. The broth for the ramen wasn't very good and lacked some flavor. The ramen as well as the toppings were just okay. Overall not a great meal definitely not one worth returning here for.

Searching for a decent ramen place near The Woodlands, my boyfriend and I decided to try Daikoku because of the numerous good reviews and looks of the photos. The restaurant itself is cozy, and there are several Asian snacks and desserts for sale. We walked right up to the register upon arriving and ordered the classic tonkotsu (made spicy) and spicy pork tan-tan men. We were majorly disappointed by the food. After our first bites, we both agreed that it was the worst ramen we had ever tasted. My tonkotsu broth did not taste normal. I can't quite describe what it tasted like other than spicy boiled water. Because the broth was bad, so was everything else in the bowl. The pork lacked flavor, and it was super soft. I definitely do not recommend trying this place. I have no idea how so many people enjoyed the food here. Really flabbergasted by that.

The place was cute. Set up inside: you grab a menu and order first before sitting down. Something like torchys tacos and other places that do that kind of thing. My husband ordered the original classic ramen (4.5/5 from my husband). He says it's a bit on the saltier side and that it's "too rich" but other than that he enjoys it. I took a sip of his and agreed. My sister had the chicken tantanmen ramen (3.5/5). To me, I also think it was a bit too salty and the chicken flavor kind of overpowered the broth. My sister ate 90% of it and it gave it back to me lol. I ordered a series of little things too like spam musubi (5/5). Omg, my favorite for today. It was absolutely what I would look for in spam musubi. Perfection. The takoyaki was also delicious! (5/5). Fried oysters (5/5) as well for taste and freshness! I thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer more than the ramen so I might just come back for those instead haha. Strong review because of all the nice appetizers or else I would've gave it a solid 3.5/5 for the ramen.

The food was very good!…read more I was hesitant at first because some of the menu seemed to be fusion items. In a place like Houston, where you can get authentic Vietnamese food, this can be a luck draw if the fusion pays off. However, when I tried the food, it was a very flavorful and worth every cent I spent. Everything was very tasty. The wings were flavorful and crisp. It had a combination of crispy skin seasoned with a rich sauce. The meat was also moist. For a party of two, it was also very shareable because they gave six pieces -both drums and wings. I will say that you really gotta to get in there get your hands and face dirty though! (They did provide a hand wipe!) For the main dishes, the won tonic soup was very flavorful with sweet-and-sour elements with egg noodles that soaked up all this good flavor. The wontons inside were very standard. And the onion was added to provide some balance. Everything was very hardy and filling. My friend had gotten the vermicelli. Which came with crunchy egg rolls, shredded veggies, noodles, and shrimp topped with a fish sauce. It felt very light and refreshing with a balance of textures and savory elements'. Highly recommend as the number one and two selling dishes - it would just depend on if you're in a soup or dry noodle sort of mood. Service was overall fast and friendly. You have to pay by going to the counter. We had a newer waiter though, and it took him a long time to get our orders correctly and he had to get some help. Hopefully they're doing well, but overall, it's a very cute Homie little establishment. Seating fits around 30 around booths and tables.
