A good neighborhood ramen placer that is family ran and reasonably priced. The miso ramen and tonkotsu have very similar flavor. I expect the tonkotsu ramen to have a lot more brothy flavor and to be a bit thicker. The miso ramen was good. The noodles are on the thunder side. The ramen was not spicy by any means. I kinda have been gatekeeping this place for a while now. My husband and I order all the time from here, the customer service is exceptional, the food is delicious and consistent, there's never any odd issues such as taste or bad service a few times or anything. Why 5 stars? Because this ramen was everything I hoped for. --- --- --- I was craving ramen and wanted to stop by here before the weather warmed up. The problem is: it's a 40 minute drive from my house. Still, I was determined to make it happen, so I finally just got in the car and made the trek. Was I feeling silly about 10 minutes into this journey? Yes, but I planned to make a couple of other stops in the area to make the drive worthwhile. I arrived and someone took my order before I could even gather myself. I knew in advance what I wanted, so I was fortunately ready. The moment we walked in, the staff seemed bothered that anyone was there. But the part that stood out the most was the front staff that was voicing loudly how upset she was that door dash orders were coming in and said "not another stupid Mexican". Just because she didn't like that the Door Dash drivers spoke Spanish. Then proceeded to come to our table and say that she didn't mean us when she referenced Mexicans. This has become one of my favorite places ever. First time I went I got the takoyaki and some Tonkotsu ramen. Amazing. The takoyaki was insane, like being assaulted by a gang of delicious flavors, and everything in the ramen was absolutely perfect. Nice seasoned egg. Perfect chashu. Firm and tasty noodles. It's a typical ramen with pork broth, pork chashu, seasoned egg, fish cake, bamboo shoots, sweet corn, green onion, nori dried seaweed. The pork chashu was a little bit tough for me, and the whole thing tasted a little fishy. The noodles were cooked good, but I missed that fresh homemade taste. It wasn't so bad to where I couldn't eat it. It just wasn't great. I am still on the search for a great ramen place in Houston, but if I ever get a craving and want to go to some place local, I'd give this place another shot. read more

This new ramen place is right next to the popular Q-shi and is fairly easy to see with its big red-lettered sign on the building. They did have other items, like different fried rices, salads, etc. Upon entering, I immediately got a whiff of smoke and was asking myself is there a smoke shop next door? Either this is a smoker friendly restaurant, or the employees just smoke in the back and you're smelling smoke for most of your meal. Regardless, I enjoyed my chicken thigh app and tonkatsu ramen bowl. Both were ample portions, with the chicken served with a yummy dipping sauce that you can doctor up at the table if you like. Ate here for a late lunch Saturday. We were greeted and sat immediately. Everything came out pretty quickly and the server checked back several times throughout each course. All the food came out hot and timely. The gyoza was ok. I ordered pan fried. The spicy edamame had a good garlicky flavor, wasn't really "spicy" though. I still ate all of it. However, the spicy miso ramen had a kick to it. I added spinach to mine, I was happy with it. I'm pretty sure they make the noodles there. You can kinda see into the kitchen and it looked like that's what they were doing. Either way, the noodles were really good, my favorite part of the dish (which would usually be the soft boiled egg, but these noodles were good). It was a nice in-and-out lunch. I was in the mood for a bowl of Spicy Miso Ramen post a 3 mile run. I had quite the appetite and ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen as well as an order of the pan fried Gyoza. I inhaled the Gyozas but didn't notice anything which stood out. Don't get me wrong they were good and worth the price but I wasn't left with a "wowed" impression. The Spicy Miso on the other hand was excellent and probably one of the best in the Greater Houston area. I hardly ever consume the egg (most the time it's not cooked to my liking) but I consumed my entire bowl during this sit down. The Spicy level is strong but I expect that in the Spicy Miso variety which to me made the dish all the better. Found this place driving by. Walking in I was sort of disappointed in the decor, it only has a few tables and a bar. There also seemed to be a strange smell that was not pleasant, almost the smell of stale beer and cigarettes. I would have left if I wasn't so hungry. I stayed and ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, which was delicious. The bowl deceivingly looks small but just seemed to never end. Alright so this is a cute family run restaurant (aka lean staff) BUT the food was so carefully prepared and our table was waited on by the most attentive waitress. The only thing I would comment on is that the sitting area was a little humid and warm-spicy ramen is a little less enjoyable when you're sweating even before you eat ha! This could be Houston weather that day- it was hella hot! WOW. If I could give this family owned restaurant 10 stars I would. My husband and I were itching for some ramne, GOOD ramen. He's a fan of Jinya, I'm a fan of Ramen Tatsuya. We were close to Jinya, but we just decided to step out of our comfort zone to try something new and God, my taste buds are SO HAPPY that we did. We got an order of delicious good-sized crab puffs to start off with, and he ordered the Spicy chicken ramen, but instead of the chicken chashu, he replaced them with chicken wontons. I got the tonkotsu, and when I tell you I have had ramen EVERYWHERE, from New York City to San Diego, this place blew my MIND. I never finish ANY ramen bowl, but here I was, scraping at the bottom, wanting more even after I had already finished because it was just THAT GOOD. The broth was rich, creamy, flavorful, and absolutely delightful. My husband absolutely DEMOLISHED his spicy chicken ramen. His comments were, spicy, flavorful, the perfect amount of heat to make you sweat, but too damn good to even stop for a water break. I have been with this man to plenty of ramen places, but this spot is the first time I have ever seen him drain a bowl dry. We loved this place so much, we went back two days later to make sure that it wasn't just a fluke.. We are happy to report that the second time around, we left nothing in our bowls and we have found our new favorite ramen spot in Houston. I was staying nearby on a business trip and saw this was close and had mostly good reviews. Monday evening about 7:30 and I'm the only one in the whole restaurant. No problem there - I took a seat and ordered the Ton katsu Ramen and a side of spring rolls. The rolls were perfect - hot, crispy, and very tasty. I'm sure they were just the standard frozen fare, deep fried - no problem here. The ramen came out shortly after the spring rolls. The presentation was a little disappointing - a sprinkle of green onions on top a small sheet of seaweed, but the boiled egg was upside down and buried under the noodles. I was a little surprised, as with no crowd, and what I normally see for presentation, it just looked a little careless. But if the food is good, presentation can be forgiven. The broth was really excellent. Nice flavor and consistency. The noodles seemed more like thin spaghetti than ramen noodles. The flavor was OK, but they just didn't seem right. I could be wrong, but thin spaghetti was all I could think of. The ton katsu was also good, but only 3 slices in the bowl. There was a slice of fish cake in there, but it, too, was buried under the noodles and seemed to be overcooked or something - a little on the rubbery side. One thing that I'm not really into is a Shiitake mushroom, especially the dried kind. I've never seen these as enhancing the flavor, rather it's a flavor that just seems to not conform with the rest of the meal. I have a very broad pallet and will eat just about anything - there are few flavors that I don't appreciate - this is one of them. I can take a few, but there were more than I cared for in this one. I wouldn't take off points for that The people in the restaurant were very friendly and came by the table several times while I was eating - not sure if it was because I was the only one there. The fried chicken was crispy and had the best pieces of fat. The sauce it came with went great with it and the shrimp and ramen. My friend got Vegetable Ramen and I got Tokontsu . Hers was tasteless as she said but after spicing it up it was fine! My ramen was really good already but adding the sauce from the chicken app took it up to the top.
