Did a quick takeout of tonkotsu ramen since I haven't actually been able to have ramen since the pandemic started. And let me tell you, as someone who has had ramen all over Texas and Japan, this broth is absolutely stellar!!! It's so good even my friend who hates drinking broth was drinking out of the bowl! The place is super small and quiet not a lot of people sadly but I think it'd be safe to dine-in! The lady was super nice and food was great! I was very satisfied with my meal here! We got the pan fried gyozas, Japanese crispy chicken, Japanese chicken fried rice, and miso ramen. They were all delicious! The food was good but I have a story. I live across the street so I placed an online order for pick up. Appx. 10 minutes later I arrived, walked in, and saw an older woman in the back cooking and a young lady sitting in the dining area maybe doing homework. Young lady asked if she could help me and I informed her that I'm picking up an order for _________ and I gave her my name. She replied, "I need see order" as she looked at her tablet. I said excuse me? Now my "excuse me" response was partly due to us all wearing mask, also my hearing is a little bad after all those years of military service, and also b/c she was so damn rude about it. I couldn't believe my ears. So she repeats, I NEED SEE ORDER! Now, I'm not sure how many orders were being worked on back there or what the chances of there being multiple orders under the same somewhat unique name as mine? But I didn't argue... just walked back to the car, grabbed my phone, and walked back inside the restaurant. I showed the young lady my phone but o purposely only showed her the app I used to place the order and my name was displayed on the screen. I didn't even open the order. So I showed that screen to her and she says ok, 5 more minute. Wait a minute... I thought you said you need to see order. She didn't even get up to check the status of the order or anything. So I asked her, I thought you need see order? I never showed you order. I only showed you my name! I really don't know how to end this story because there's no way to describe the blank look on her face and the tail-tucking "oh" I received in response. And I guess my only purpose in tailing this story is maybe the restaurant can do a better job and training it's employees/family? Or maybe just simply don't be rude to people patronizing your business? I'm sure I'll be back to this place considering there are more items I'd like to try on the menu and I'll find out if checking people's phone for order is just policy. I missed the red flags. I went in during lunchtime and the restaurant was empty. It was dark and gloomy. Behind the counters were dirty appliances. Absolutely delicious, both my wife and I loved it! She ordered the pork buns and chicken ramen bowl, I had the takoyaki and spicy chicken ramen bowl. The buns were very soft and pork meat was flavorful, my takoyaki (disclaimer: never eaten them before today) were very tasty but I expected more octopus bits. The ramen broth had a nice rich flavor that complimented the ingredients well and seemed to taste better the more we ate. My only complaint, due to no fault of the staff, was this d@#m fly that wanted to eat our meals more than we did.....it wouldn't go away! The pork katsu had no taste and was totally dry. The calamari was soggy. The gyoza was almost all wrapper with minimal filling. Unfortunately, most of the meal went in the trash. They sell Boba Drinks. Don't make the mistake I did and bring boba drinks from the shop down the street. I found this place by driving by one day and decided to look up the review on Google and Yelp. I checked out the website and looked through review pictures and didn't see any picture of boba drinks so I thought I'll just pick one up over at the next shopping center and then come here for dinner. When we got there we were told No outside food or drink allowed. They let us keep our drinks this time though. Now the food...we received a complimentary bowl of edamame. We also shared an order of takoyaki for appetizer and it was pretty good. Not as big or as mouthful as ones you get in Japan but it sure fixed the craving and you especially don't find them often here in Texas. We ordered Tonkatsu ramen and it was good. Not the best we've had but I would definitely have it again. I'm glad they are open here. It is now the closest ramen shop to me. Service was acceptable. Visited Yoko Ramen after 8pm on a Wednesday for a to go order. The place was charming and clean. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Our food was prepared fresh and fast and was delicious.
