The food was fresh and flavorful overall. The calamari was perfectly seasoned, tender, and came with both cocktail and tartar sauce. My shrimp scampi pasta, while tasty and made with large shrimp, could've used a bit more sauce since the pasta was a little on the dry side. It was still filling and paired nicely with the garlic toast. My husband ordered one of the shrimp trio dishes (I forgot the exact name), and while he enjoyed it, he wished the portion was a bit larger, but to be fair, he's a big eater. I've been to this location before when it was a different restaurant so was on the fence about coming. Since it had good reviews and people on next-door, we're talking about it. We decided to try. I always find it awkward to go into a restaurant when you were literally the only ones there, but it was during the week. I can tell this is a family owned restaurant. The menu notates the family's dream and it recommends "mom's favorite" on the menu. The staff and service is great. I had no complaints there whatsoever. Very nice people very proud of their food and what they provide to you. I feel like I met the mom, but I didn't ask. She was very kind and made recommendations. Comes to explain the menu. I really liked her. Restaurant is in great condition nice and dark with TVs. The food was good. I don't have any complaints. The auguachiles were delicious, which is rare as you can't really even find them everywhere. We had the garfish crisps, which I never heard of what those were but they were good and tasted really good with the sauce. My fish tacos honestly could've just been fried catfish alone because the fried fish catfish was delicious and crunchy just the way catfish should be! I feel like the tortilla and slaw just really mask the taste of the delicious catfish but it's whoever's preference. Please make sure that you ask for the fried rice. I failed to do so but definitely going to try it next time. Also, there's salsa is spicy so make sure that you ask for a non-spicy option which they do have. But if you love spice, you're going to like their salsa, I know I did. Lastly, the selection of drinks was good they many different Jarrito flavors, but I got a Mexican Coke, which you can never go wrong with. I highly recommend, but I will say the only complaint I had was the music choice for the restaurant. It was depressing country which I would've thought you would have something a little more upbeat or maybe Mexican music. It was just odd and didn't go with the ambience of the restaurant. read more

We found this spot while driving around the Spring area, and I'm so glad we did. It's a family-owned local business, and you can really feel the care they put into everything. The service was great--our waiter, Enrique, was super friendly and even told us his mom and family own the place, which made the experience even better. We started with chips and salsa, and the sauce was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and just the right amount of kick. For our meal, we ordered the fajita plate, green enchiladas, fried shrimp, and rice, and everything was really well-seasoned and cooked just right. The fajitas were tender, the enchiladas had great flavor, and even the fried shrimp (which I don't usually go for) were fresh and crispy. tonight we tried Chubbys off 2920 for the first time! to start, their service is great and the story behind them is amazing! they are a family owned business with mom and dad in the kitchen and their sons handling the front of the house. we got the skinny and classic margarita, both were very fresh and did not taste anything like mix! we ordered the ceviche, minus octopus because my husband is not adventurous lol, and it was fresh, flavorful and there was quite a bit!! for our main we go the fish tacos, which have homemade corn tortillas, and the fried fish and shrimp plate!! my husband loved his plate and the tacos were some of the best I've had in the Houston area! if you get a chance I highly recommend stopping by to try their delicious food while also supporting a small owned family run business! read more

We ended up here because the other restaurant was just too loud and not really our style. So happy we went to Chubby's (Friday evening), we enjoy the food and the staff. We started with chargrilled oyster, those were delicious. They were garnished with pico de gallo. I ordered the fajita plate, the meat was seasoned well and cooked just right, good portion of rice and refried beans. My hubby ordered the shrimp wrapped in bacon plate. He enjoyed his plate. He really liked the salsa that came with the chips. The staff was polite, very attentive, mentioned they have only been opened for about a month. We dined the second time as promised to try the Mexican part of the menu. This review is more for constructive criticism. I had the mixed fajitas (beef, chicken, shrimp). The flavor was good but the portion size of the rice and beans were kinda small and didn't have much flavor. The shrimp were butterflied but overcooked. I ordered the fried rice because my husband previously stated the Mexican rice was bland. This trip, my rice was bland as well and I only received two tortillas. Mind you, this was enough food for me but not for a grown man. The shrimp cocktail was good but was more sweet than savory or spicy although the shrimp were fresh. The flautas were good and crisp but again the sides lacked flavor. So overall the dish was not cohesive. The chips and both red and green salsa were a hit. We didn't have the same waiter this time and he seemed either shy or inexperienced. In conclusion, they need to step up their game on the Mexican portion of the menu or just stick to the Seafood Grill where, in our opinion, they are much better at. However, we will be back for the Seafood and hopefully in time, the Mexican food will get better. read more

I normally need to keep servers from refilling my tea but I only received one serving of tea this outing. Our server was nice enough but not attentive or observant. Just went there the other day with my wife and sister in law. The restaurant has been opened only for about 1 week. First, the menu is very good and the prices are fair, they also have outdoor seating. We tried the whole fried tilapia and also the Mariscada soup, everything was delicious and fresh. The Owner and her son run the place and they are fantastic, they will have a full grand opening in about 3 weeks, don't miss out it will be very nice, at the moment they don't serve alcohol, but they will, in about 3-4 weeks, meantime they do have some very good drinks. So, yes the place is great and the service and food fantastic. Please try this new place and support our local restaurants. We for sure will be back. read more
