OK, so the experience was pretty awesome. The things that I loved were the vast amount of cocktails, the vibes/decor, and the fact that I knew when I made the reservation exactly what to expect. The not so favorites, make sure that you park in the back as the entrance is there. The staff wasn't super great. Paid the tab and went on our merry way after being allowed to stay beyond our reservation period. After the *first* charge posted the next day, a second charge was made the day after. Despite 4 attempts - including a phone call, a face-to-face visit, and two separate emails, there has yet to be a response about being double billed. We've been patrons of both The Blind Finch and Thistle for years, and despite the great drinks and atmosphere, this has unfortunately has tainted my feelings toward both establishments. Another speakeasy for the books! Entrance to this speakeasy bar is through the back door, there will be caution written on the door, however someone at the brewery next door told me to knock 17 times!! The security got a kick out of that, and the door was not locked. Reservations recommended, they are busy during the weekend. We walked pass the wall of pictures and checked out the bathroom of mirrors. Then you enter this room, dim lighting with lights from the bar. We ordered a couple of appetizers to go with our drinks. This place is SO COOL. I had no idea that there was a cocktail lounge like this up in Spring!! The decor is really cool - very 1920's/prohibition style. Lots of lounge chairs and love seats and bar seating. My friend asked for a mocktail and the bartender made her a "fruity" one that was really delicious and refreshing. It really does feel like you've been transported somewhere much more magical than a random bar off FM-2920. It's also super dark inside so difficult to keep track of time (in the best way!) This is definitely a spot I would go back to if celebrating an occasion/wanting to impress an out-of-town or cocktail connoisseur friend. If you make a reservation it might not get promised. what's the point of making a reservation if you aren't going to be able to sit and enjoy . i was making a reservation around 7:30 and saw that there was availability at 8:15 for a table on their open table app. I arrived at 8:00 and advised the Host/Security of my reservation. I CANNOT say enough amazing things about this place! My husband and I were in town for a graduation party and we decided to try The Blind Finch to wind down the evening. He and I had never been to a speakeasy before and now I will be trying to find one every where I go! The ambiance inside of this place is wonderful. Intimate while still lively. The decor is perfect for the occasion and we loved that it was a smaller place so even though it was full, you still have a feeling of privacy. Even though GPS did its job, we had a hard time finding the place. The entrance is located in the back of the building and has a sign that says "Closed" on it, although if you read the writing its clear that it's part of the setting the scene. When we walked in we were greeted by Wendy who did such an amazing job all night that we thought she was one of the managers. Zoe was the server who took care of us and she was great! It looked like she was working the room on her own, but she still managed to check on us enough that we never felt ignored, but not so much that it was intrusive. She even went the extra mile and got my husband some extra bread for the hummus right when the kitchen was closing. All the food was fantastic! We had the Spicy Devil Eggs and the Finch Dip. Both were the perfect sizes to go along with our drinks as we weren't expecting a full menu - just some bites to eat. Of course, the man attraction was the drinks. Danny was our bartender and he absolutely killed it! First, my husband ordered the Underdressed cocktail and Danny came to our table personally to let us know he didn't have all the ingredients and offer recommendations. My husband decided to go with a Dapper Dan (loved it!) and I had the Queen of Hearts which was equally as tasty. We found out Danny makes a mean sazerac (IYKYK!!) and that was our 2nd, 4th and 5th drinks for the evening...lol. I absolutely loved this bar! It was such a fun experience and the bar was absolutely beautiful! The entrance to the bar is a bit difficult to find but I think that adds to the whole experience. Once we arrived we were welcomed and immediately seated at a table first, then promised once two bar seats opened up that he would move us to the bar. They had a live pianist which was so wonderful as well! It took a while for the drinks to come out but it wasn't a huge deal for us. The winding hallway with such amazing artwork and decorations is a great touch. The ambiance is a 1920s upper class kind of feel. I was wearing a simple dress, but felt like I needed to be wearing a flapper dress with a limo parked out front! Speaking of attire, from what I understand, this establishment does not allow just anyone to go back there. It does require a slighter nicer casual dress. So no shorts and a tshirt. Or ripped jeans and a hoodie. I would say jeans & a nice shirt, is the basic requirement. I believe. I don't know for sure. Plus, you'd be very under dressed dressed like that any way. The specialty cocktail menu changes monthly. Food is more like nibbles. I do recommend having a delicious meal over at Thistle, then heading over to Blind Finch for social drinks.
