I very rarely make a bad review but when I do, I feel like it is warranted. This bar has the laziest and most incompetent bar tenders in all of Montgomery county, I am convinced. I asked for a mudslide and the bartender looked at me as if I were speaking mongolIan. didn even attempt to try. On top of that she was rude! Not just a li rude but VERY rude. I even tried explaining to her the ingredients which were clearly on display and she insisted that she did not have the ingredients to make it. I just stood there in disbelief. There were empty glasses and beer bottles everywhere, while the bartender just sat there playing on her phone. The bar owner's girlfriend, sat there making Jell-O shots at the bar while even acknowledging the fact that the bar tender was playing on her phone and not tending her bar and didn't even seem bothered. This place does not treat all of their customers with great service. They pick and choose who to serve and the atmosphere feels like you've walked into a bar in Mayberry this place is not welcoming at all and the Facebook reviews are not lying. The manager Savanah got into an adult debate with my friends. She constantly used the N word with ER at the end (with one of my friends who was black) And when I said something about not feeling comfortable with her using that word, she tried to fight me. Would not recommend going here. Because she was not the only racist encounterment I dealt with from employees or customers at this bar. read more

Whew....where do I begin? First off, I came to this bar 5 years ago when I first moved into the area. My next door neighbors moved in on the same day we did, and we broke the ice over drinks one cold night in December of 2020. This was before the remodel. We had an amazing time and played darts all night long. Fast forward to this past Saturday (12/6/25) night around 8:30PM. My wife and I stopped in for some wings and drinks instead of driving to Buffalo Wild Wings. We normally see tons of cars in the parking lot when we drive by, so we decided to give this place another shot. That's when our night took an epic dive. We're greeted by a couple leaving in matching Christmas sweaters. They tell us happy holidays and Merry Christmas. We then proceed to the bar and gaze around at all the upgrades and festive decorations. It looks much different nowadays (in a good way) and felt very cozy. The bartender Savanna then asks what we're having. We ask for a food menu and my wife orders a drink. We notice table reservations and a card in front of us describing karaoke. I ask the bartender what events were taking place tonight? She quickly pointed at the wall behind her and said "its on the wall". That gesture threw me completely off but I took it as maybe she's in a bad mood. Mind you, there's only 3 other people inside the entire establishment. We order our food and then I proceed to go to the restroom to wash my hands. There's two bathrooms to the left. Once I got to the door the bartender yell's out STOP, the men's restroom is on the other side. Ok..... (strike 2). As I walk over to the other side of the building, 2 older gentlemen look me up and down and shrug. Weird but whatever... As I come back to my seat, I notice maybe 6-7 people walk in. The bartender immediately changes her tune and asks how their day is going, all while laughing and smiling. They sat next to us, looked over, and then focus their attention back to their party. At this point I had enough. The uneasy tension, the blatant undertones of racism and pure resentment of unwelcomeness was enough for us to see our way out the door. We paid our tab and left. You'll never have to worry about us ever stepping foot in this establishment ever again. I've only felt uneasy at an establishment three times in my life. Of those 3 times it was never in Houston/Spring. I could chalk it up as if the bartender was having a bad day, but this wasn't the case. Honestly its baffling how someone making $2 an hour while also depending on tips would treat a customer like that. Like what are you doing and why? We were nice to her the entire time and we always take care of our servers. This whole instance was strange. It also blows my mind that type of energy would be tolerated in this particular area. Look around, the bar is in a black and brown community. There's a ton of positive reviews for this place, why were we treated differently? As for the owner, if you feel this review is invalid, go ahead and rewind your cameras to 12/6 around 8:50PM. Watch the entire scenario unfold. Not to compare, but the Twisted Monkey's vibe is very welcoming no matter what your skin color is. I just can't justify the cigarette smoke that's why we decided to try The Tavern instead. The owner did an amazing job revamping the place, adding daily specials and putting some character in a dying strip mall. But you have to be careful of who you hire. They'll run your business into the ground if you're not paying attention. As far as the bartender is concerned, I would be on point going forward. I would hate for this place to be shut down due to random inspections (due to complaints) , police sobriety checkpoints in the parking lot, not checking IDs, overserving. Karma is real! read more

I ordered off doordash about 20 minutes before they were closing. Very basic order, 10 Medium Wings. It was prepared quickly and when my meal arrived it was still VERY hot and the wings were excellent. Really good size too ! Worth my money and really excited to go in person one day :). I've been to this bar maybe a little over a dozen times in the past 10 months, so I'm in no way a regular. Tonight was the first night that I had an experience here that was negative enough for me to check out their Yelp page. A bartender here, Rachel, was extremely rude to me at the bar. I saw Bob L' s review, so I know I'm not the first customer to be treated badly by this person. I hate to give a one-star review when so many of the staff (Alisa, Laramie, Bill the KJ just to name a few) are good at what they do, but as a bartender myself I felt the need to speak up. This is the worst place if you want to sing kareoke. The wait staff is great. If your a regulars there its all good! But how do you expect to gain more regulars when you dont treat all customers the same. We have been in this area for over a year and tried this place at least 5 times and got the same "under par" treatment from the staff and ESPECIALLY this same karaoke dj. My husband is a karaoke dj and is ssssooo much better and more fair than these people. You get put in the lineup as you sign up and it stays the same!!!! Have been going here a couple of nights a week and sometimes in the afternoon for about 4 years. The place is under new ownership and IMHO they are doing a great job. There was a lot of remodeling done before covid and it came out very nice as well as the new owners adding a few touches. The bartenders are great for the most part. There have been a few who I personally did not care for, but they have moved on. The crowd is really friendly and I have never seen any serious drama. There is karaoke on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday with an occasional live band. OBTW, they have recently changed to non smoking, and again IMHO it is an improvement. All in all, it is the epitome of a neighborhood bar with a few extra touches. Try the Tavern burger. read more

Place is great. Awesome bartenders, good people, and fun environment. It's like walking into Cheer's, a place to go where everybody knows your name. Weekends are very fun, but the true feel of this place is during the week when there's not really anyone there. Hang out at the bar and chat with strangers and bartenders. Wouldn't give this place up for anything...if I feel like drinking a few and having fun go to place...or if I feel like weeping in sorrows during the week, everyone there makes the day a little better. This is my favorite hang out by far. Have a brand new DJ who is by far 10 times better than most recent dj ( though none can compare to John). Some new faces behind the bar are friendly and polite and prices are fantastic. All bartenders in the evening are just spot on.
