I've been trying to eat out less often but when I do, 'Sizzle & Brew' is on my favorites list: locally-owned, great food and solid service. 'The Crazy Cajun' is very good: boudin balls and over-easy eggs on cornbread, topped with Cajun hollandaise. (Note: the cornbread is pretty tall and can be a little dry, so I usually lop off the bottom half.) That was my go-to until a waiter recommended 'Shrimp & Grits Benedict' - shrimp, andouille sausage and over-easy eggs on fried grit patties with Cajun hollandaise. (Talk about a great way to get both grits AND potatoes!) The coffee is OK, portions ample, service excellent and attentive, and staff recommendations trustworthy. In fairness, I need to sample more of the menu as I'm usually tied between two favorite Benedicts. That said, no one I've brought has been disappointed with their choices. read more

My friend Holly and I met here for Sunday brunch. We've been here several times, and while the menu is pretty extensive, we usually stick to breakfast items. The service is always wonderful. The staff is friendly, attentive, and one of the main reasons we keep coming back. As for the food, it's okay--good, solid breakfast fare, but nothing particularly memorable. The scrambled eggs were just regular scrambled eggs, the bacon was a little on the cardboard side but still edible, and the potatoes weren't really my favorite. I also thought the French toast portion was surprisingly small for the price. Overall, Sizzle & Brew is a comfortable local spot with a welcoming atmosphere and consistently great service. The food and crispy potatoes are PHENOMENAL! The big brew/ mini brew + shrimp & grits Benedict are what I come back for. This is a local family brunch place that we've been to for years. However the service keeps declining and the attitude / customer service needs to be trained. There's been a change of ownership and staff/ hosts. We walked in for Saturday brunch and were greeted with disrespectful behavior. A young host lady and a man were bickering if they wanted to take our table or not. Decided that we wanted some country style breakfast, so while my parents were in town, I took them over here. This is my second time visiting, and it's just that. Good homemade style food that just hits the spot. My dad mentioned wanting a chicken fried steak (CFS), and so naturally, that sounded really good, and changed my whole thought process about what to get. I knew the kiddo was going for french toast or the cinammon roll pancake, so I could get some sweetness, and have some savory, which I think worked out great! I got the CFS with mashed potatoes and sourdough bread, with a side of grits. The kid and lil lady got the french toast, side of bacon and side of grits. My dad ended up going with the bone in ham, never even saw that on the menu, but it was good, and I loved the grill flavor in the meat. Brother got the omelet. When the food came out, I knew I had to be quick with the pics, bc we were all starving! Not starving starving, but we were hungry! Lol, everyone tried a little bit of everything, and nothing disappointed. We've driven by this place a million times and never checked it out. Today was the day!!! I haven't had service this great in a very long time. Our server, Kenadie M, was spectacular. She let us know everything new that they offered and was very patient while we looked over the menu. She checked in on us throughout and we had everything we needed. The food was great! I had the Orleans Omlette with the dirty rice. My husband had the build your own skillet. Our meals were amazing and we can't wait to go back. We visited here for breakfast and it was quite popular but we were able to get a seat without having to wait. Prices are high and portions are small. The coffee was good and the biscuit and gravy had a wonderful flavor with slight accents of potato and thick gravy but unfortunately it was a little too small. Looks are deceiving! When you drive by it appears like it's a small corner restaurant in a plaza but this location has plenty of seating and even an option for outdoor seating. Lots of choices and service was super friendly and attentive. The grits were creamy but the saltiness of the sausage I think overpowered the dish. My SIL said the chicken and waffles lacked flavor unfortunately but my daughter said the pancake, eggs and potatoes were "bussin". We'll be back to try other dishes and for sure the mimosas. read more

They have a good menu with a variety of food, some have a Louisiana touch like corn bread with rice and beans with andouille sausage. I made my own veggie omelette with really good crispy potatoes and a warm biscuit. In other places that I've had omelettes they tend to be thin and flat with the veggies inside like a taco. However, here they make it correctly, the veggies are mixed in with the eggs. The portions are filling. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. There's plenty of party since it's in a strip mall. Finally visited S&B for the first time recently, and had a great experience. Super friendly, helpful staff helped us make our choices. I had a BLT that was good if not great, and some yummy skinny fries. Covered patio is a pleasant spot unless the weather is incendiary -- recommend. Greasy seems old bacon was just not tasty at all. I didn't finish it crispy that I requested. That's fine but to greasy use my napkins to get get grease seems been sitting in old grease. Oh, you would think that grits would be easy but not the case. Oh I put more butter, pepper, and I even add more salt and it still couldn't eat the rest of it. Mushy mushy mushy.! Ordered to-go on a busy Saturday morning... Chicken & Waffles and a stack of pancakes. When I unpackaged the items at home, I noticed they forgot to provide me with several items. I ordered the pancakes Berry Amaretto style, asking for the sauce & berries on the side. They left out the berries. I also asked for "a few sides of spicy syrup," but they only gave me one. The pancakes by themselves weren't anything special. I could honestly get the same thing for cheaper from a fast food establishment. The chicken was super dry & rubbery, with rhe middle so hard I wouldn't be surprised if it was pre-frozen. The serving size of the pancakes was enough to feed her for the week. Service was very friendly and fast. Our major complaint was after walking to this place from our neighborhood my daughter had a Stanley of water. She still ordered a drink inside, but she was told to take the Stanley outside. We compromised and he let us just put the Stanley away on a chair. I understand there is a sign that says no outside food or drink, but this is a little girl and she ordered a drink. Called in before hand and said it would be ready in 20 min, arrived 20 min later and everything was ready to go. The sweet young girls at the counter very very helpful and got me taken care of quickly. The ambiance was sooo cute, I kind of wish I would've came to dine-in! We stumbled upon this place on our way back to Dallas and I'm so glad we did! This Cajun styled brunch spot took us by surprise. Really quaint atmosphere located in a strip mall. We arrived around 11:30 had a15 min wait they started to get fairly busy but our food took no more than 10-15 mins to make it to our table. We ordered the boudin balls and eggs. Big sizzle with French toast and waffles with bacon. Literally EVERYTHING was extremely delicious and tasted like home (La). Bloody Mary's spice is on the rim, and is more tomato mix than vodka. But for the price, I suppose this is okay. The omelette's and side potatoes were good, ordered as requested. The biscuits simply fel apart - and not in a melt in your mouth kind of way. They were thin and, well.... The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the fact that there was no understanding for the fact that we walked 3 miles to get here in the Texas heat and our daughter had brought a Stanley of ice water in.
