Chicken and Waffles: egg made to order over medium, with hash browns
    Vena W.

Good, fresh food at not bad prices. Service was friendly and they made sure to check that we had everything before we started eating. There is inside and outside seating to accommodate whatever your preference. Its a good home cooked meal. My hashbrowns were good, but I wish they were a little softer and not so crispy. The chicken on top of the biscuit was perfectly fried and the biscuits were lite and went well with the chicken and gravy. My egg was cooked as I requested and they were happy to correct my coffee order when I got regular instead of my requested decaf. Wonderful staff and good food.

We stopped by Sunrise Café this morning for breakfast, and everything was delicious! The biscuits and gravy were outstanding, and the hash browns, eggs, and bacon were cooked perfectly. The restaurant is also incredibly cute inside with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back to try lunch!

Kind of costly for what they offer. Had breakfast at 9am on a Wednesday. Grits were ok. The below should have cost $5 less.

Was in search of a new neighborhood breakfast spot and stumbled upon Cypress Sunrise Cafe while browsing Yelp. The few reviews looked promising, so my husband and I gave it a try! The inside was cozy and clean. I loved the color scheme and the countertop seating option. Our server (I can't recall her name), was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the turkey omelette and my husband ordered the Bacado omelette. Both omelettes were great but a different kind of cook - think soufflé texture. It wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting. I appreciated the turkey in my omelette being real shreds of meat instead of the cubed stuff most places use. My husband ordered a glass of orange juice - it was super tasty and fresh, but $5 per glass was a little pricey. We will definitely be back!

    Plate I sent back

The food was really good. The only problem i had is the pan sausage wad dry and cold. The eggs had no taste so I sent it back and got the ham and fried eggs. The substitution was delicious. My waitress, DJ was so kind and understanding. She is a jewel! The atmosphere was very relaxing and pleasant. Clean and beautiful restaurant. Definitely will bring the family next time.

Chicken fried chicken...grits snitched before photo.

Busy on Sunday. Slow service and they forgot the fried egg on my brunch burger (it was cooked wrong when I got it) ...but we really enjoyed the food. $84 for 4 adult meals, 2 soft drinks and one OJ.

    Bacado- fulfilling!

Service and ambiance were excellent! The place is clean, and the staff was very welcoming and attentive. The food was very good, the omelettes were big, thick, and very filling. We would definitely recommend this place!

They were all good except the samosas that tasted liked a frozen boxed item. We also ordered a burger, chicken sandwich, wrap, and meat platter. The food was good, but nothing fantastic. The party was smoking hookah so there was a strong smell in the air. But we were willing to endure it. When the waiter came to take our order, I ordered a Diet Coke. The waiter was not sure if they "still" had Diet Coke. After a cpl or seconds of back and forth he concluded that they did not. NP, I ordered water. The same thing happened to my husband, he tried to order three different types of drinks and settled on water. Then came the food order...I tried to order beef kabobs, which they were out of. The excuse was that because they get busy for lunch, all the kabobs get ordered then. (This was on a Saturday...) I settled on steak kabobs. Then my husband tried to order lamb shank, nope they did not have that either. At this point, we thanked the waiter and informed him that we wld go somewhere else. He said ok. That's it. Kind like ok, don't let the door hit on the rear on the way out.

Thankfully, the food scene in Houston is so great, that we don't have to settle for mediocre halal food, but this is not that. The customer service was great. I didn't get the name of the girl who took my order, but she was very sweet and helpful. She let me know that getting a combo was a $3 upcharge, and it got us a drink and a fries. I chose a Mexican type orange soda and it was delicious. The fries we got came out cold, but they got us new fries that were nice and hot so and the counter girl apologized for the fries that we got before which seemed hard, old and cold. So no harm no foul. I got the original burger, and it was really good. I like that it had caramelized onions and it just tasted very fresh and like the other of you said a hundred percent grass fed halal meat. We also got the hot chicken sandwich, which my husband preferred, because he liked the coleslaw addition to the sandwich. We also got garlic parmesan wings because of a picture I saw online, and I have to say the picture looked better than the actual wings. They were quite salty. I would not get those again. The establishment looks clean. The customer service was great, and besides the fries mishap, our food came out in a nice orderly time and was fresh and hot. I would definitely recommend to come here!

Nice size, generous amount of toppings (eggs, tomatoes, onions) such that I had toppings in every bite with my lettuce. The entire salad, dusted with a cajun seasoning, was a nice touch. Food was served in a metal plate with plasticware & plastic cups. (I'm sure the 'plastic' is helpful for managing the outside dining.) Chef Dee came out to check on us. She saw me taking a picture of my food & playfully said 'hey you gotta take a pic of the chef who created it'. Of course I took her pic!! We started with the South African board, which was perfect for sharing at the bar and a great way to get a taste of a couple of different apps. For dinner, I ordered the Chilean sea bass, which was really good, but the star of the night was the ostrich filet that my colleague had ordered. It was so delicious and definitely something I wasn't expecting to love as much as I did. And the desserts...to die for! The crème brûlée and sticky toffee pudding were both incredible. Our server, JJ, was also great; attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I'd definitely recommend Chef's Table Vintage Park for a business dinner, date night, or even just happy hour with a friend. Great food, creative cocktails, and a really nice atmosphere.

You can choose to sit either inside or outside. We went with the Houston Restaurant week menu which features some of their most popular dishes. For the appetizer, we tried the sautéed calamari and gumbo. The calamari had a nice creamy garlic sauce which paired well the sautéed bell pepper, onions, and tender calamari. Their gumbo is solid, not too spicy and had nicely cooked rice and a mix of toppings. The rice had a good bite and absorbed the flavor from the gumbo well. I would recommend the sautéed calamari. For entrees, we ordered the wild caught king clip and steak Diane. The very buttery king clip comes with sautéed spinach and is basted in a creamy, slightly lemony sauce which compliments both elements of the dish. The kingclip is garnished with micro greens and comes with an extra lemon for additional acidity, but I felt that it wasn't needed. The steak Diane had a medium cook and was soooo tender to the bite. I would recommend both, but partial towards the king clip if you want to try something unique! Lastly for dessert, I ordered the passion fruit crème brûlée which had such a unique flavor profile! The tartness of the passion fruit goes surprisingly well with the warm vanilla custard. The texture of the creme brûlée toasted sugar top was perfect as well and added a really nice crunch to every bite. My friend ordered their sticky toffee pudding, which was arguably the best one I've had yet. The toffee syrup is incredibly rich and adds a nice caramelized flavor to the ice cream and moist cake base. It's garnished with bits of sugary crumble and fruit. You really can't go wrong with either, but if I had to pick, their sticky toffee pudding is a must try. All in all, such a fun and intimate dining experience!

"Celebrating Mama Bear" 04-18-26…read more My family and I visited Cutten Kitchen together for the first time, and we absolutely loved it. My eldest sister was the one who searched for places to celebrate our mother's birthday, and she definitely picked a winner. She felt like this would have been a restaurant our mom would have truly enjoyed if she were still here on this earth, and she got it right. Let me count the reasons why Mama would have loved this restaurant: the aesthetics, the well-seasoned food, the lively vibe, the soulful energy of the atmosphere, and the wonderful customer service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess, Victoria, whose professionalism and mannerisms were spot on. She was so friendly and welcoming. She held the door open for us when we entered, and she even held it open again when we left. Our server, Daniella, matched that same level of professionalism. She was not intimidated or nervous by our group at all. She greeted us warmly, introduced herself, and took our drink and appetizer orders with ease and confidence, which let me know she knew exactly what she was doing. She also offered great drink suggestions that we really enjoyed. I do not want to bore you with a long, drawn-out review, so I'll keep this part simple. The atmosphere is welcoming, with music playing at a nice medium volume through the overhead speakers. The dining room is extremely spacious and clean. Food Ratings: Fried Catfish/Shrimp Platter - 4/5 Both were fried to perfection, with nice crunchy edges and a soft, succulent, meaty texture inside. However, it was a bit too salty for my health. Fried Fish and Grits Platter - 5/5 My younger sister said she could taste the authenticity of Black culture in the well-seasoned grits and she enjoyed them. The CK Burger - 5/5 My son said this burger was delicious, and he tore it up too! The CK Patty Melt - 5/5 My eldest sister said it was delicious and felt like it melted in her mouth with every bite. Salmon Bites Appetizer - 5/5 Fried to perfection and surprisingly not too salty. Fried Plain Wings/Lemon Pepper Wings/French Fries - 5/5 Everything was served piping hot and extra crispy. Deviled Eggs Appetizer - 5/5 Everyone around the table loved these babies. My eldest sister said she did not care too much for the fried chicken tender on top, but overall, they were still a hit. Dirty Rice - 1/5 Too salty and too greasy for my liking. It also lacked the authenticity I was hoping for. Mac and Cheese - 5/5 According to my daughter, the mac and cheese was a 5/5. However, it did have a spicy kick, so my son gave it a 4/5. If you like spicy mac and cheese, then you will probably love theirs. Collard Greens - 5/5 This item stole the show for me. The collard greens were delicious, not too salty, and seasoned just right. Here's the shocker: instead of using pork in their collards, they used turkey neck. I was genuinely impressed because a lot of people believe pork is the only way to get that deep, flavorful taste in greens, but Cutten Kitchen proved otherwise. Blueberry Lemon Drop - 5/5 This drink may seem girlie, but it hit like a man. Sitting Sideways Cocktail - 5/5 This one hits just right and gives you a nice little buzz. Pineapple Upside Down Crown - 4/5 It was a little too sweet and did not have enough liquor for me, but it was still delicious after I poured an extra shot of Crown in it. Overall, Cutten Kitchen is an upbeat, lively, and soulful establishment that offers some of the best Southern cuisine in the area. I highly recommend this place if you love authentic soul food, great customer service, and a vibrant atmosphere. FYI: Parking is plentiful, but it would probably be best to make a reservation beforehand. I have heard this place can get packed.

She was pleasant and did her best, but it took a very long time for her to take our order, and the food took an equally long time to arrive. As for the food, it was a mixed experience. The lamb chops were actually very good and were probably the highlight of the meal. However, everything else fell short. The salmon bites were disappointing, and overall the food seemed to be lacking seasoning and flavor. The cornbread was another letdown. The only sweetness came from the glaze on top--the actual cornbread itself tasted more like a plain muffin with no sweetness or flavor of its own. I ordered the breakfast sampler with grits and eggs, but the grits that were served were heavily seasoned, dark Cajun-style grits rather than the traditional white grits most people expect with a breakfast plate. When I asked about it, I was told that's the only type of grits they serve. If that's the case, there should be a disclaimer on the menu because "grits and eggs" typically implies traditional breakfast grits, not the style usually served alongside dishes like shrimp and grits or catfish and grits. My husband ordered the lamb chops and eggs, my son had the chicken and waffles, and we also shared the salmon bites and cornbread. Unfortunately, aside from the lamb chops, nothing really stood out in a positive way. Considering the amount we spent, I left disappointed. While the staff was friendly and doing their best under the circumstances, the long wait times and lack of flavor in most of the food made the experience underwhelming. I would not return.
