Food was very good and fresh, thought I was getting chicken as my meat but wasn't disappointed with the beef. Sweet potato fries weren't floppy and had good structure.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]If looking for a quick, clean spot to pick up some food roll into Island Grill![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Needed a breakfast bite so I ordered up one chorizo and one bacon breakfast taco. Tacos were very tasty and fresh with great tasting ingredients. I liked them so much I went the next day. And I'll be back again before we leave town. Nice people, fast service.

Didn't know what to expect due to the slightly strange area of The Woodlands this is in, a lot of corporate but sort of open spaces and not much else around this particular street. However it is right across from the hotel I'm staying at the Marriott CityPlace so decided to try it out. Thrilled I did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Offering a bright welcoming atmosphere, not busy at all so surprised at the size of the place, assuming it gets busy during hotel conferences, love the "island vibes" chairs and lights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].. on to the food they offer a gluten free pita which the employee suggest led I try instead of a smaller corn tortilla for my breakfast taco. Very good, has a slight rosemary flavor which it appears to have in it. I also ordered an NA strawberry mint refresher. SO.GOOD. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gorgeous bar with three small TVs. Just a really beautiful open lots of light restaurant[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Nice and welcoming employees. Counter service. I'll probably return tomorrow.

    Gyro Pita (not a fan)
    Dave F.

I had a craving for a gyro so I got on Yelp to search for the goods. I landed on Island Grill. When I walked in, the place seemed a mix of trendy and "cafe-ey." Of course I ordered the gyro. When the food came out, I was so disappointed. The gyro clearly came from a package - from a restaurant supply. My preference is gyro that is freshly sliced from a vertical rotisserie - sliced thin with a slight char. All of the gyro was pretty much equal in size and shape. The tzatziki was also a bit liquidy for my taste. Overall, I was not a fan. While the staff was polite, I was pretty turned off by the default gratuity options when paying. It started with 18% and went up from there. Not a big deal when dining, but the customer must order at the counter, they must get their own drinks and refills, so that default tip setting didn't make sense to me. There are more authentic options in the area. Not a fan.

Seasonal cocktail menu 2025 - yummmm

I love this place. It's funny, since it's not a "nice" or "high end" Mediterranean joint, but it succeeds perfectly at what it aims to be: a quicker, easier alternative to a serious Mediterranean outing that still tastes fresh and well made, is priced fairly, and comes with great service. While literally everyone I've dealt with here is great, Allison is my person. She was tending bar the first time I visited, which was... early 2024, I think? Now I know she does it all, literally. Take orders, wait tables, sling cocktails, clean at the end of her shift... And she does it with a great attitude and customer-centered mindset. She rocks. My regular go-to's are an avocado chicken pita pocket thing, a protein shake, and avocado toast (add egg and feta). Not at all once, of course - each is plenty on its own. And the bar!! Ah, the bar. For a chill, order-up-front-&-take-a-number place, this place has a GREAT bar! Great cocktails. Seriously. I recommend the old fashioned, espresso martini (which I rarely recommend anywhere), and the paloma is pretty good, too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decent little wrap-around patio, too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I met the "Area Director," Amir, a couple of times, too - cool dude. Fresh, fast, good service, friendly people, family owned and operated. Get some!

We came here towards the end of happy hour and ordered the hummus & veggie. Food is made fresh! So don't come during lunch! We came towards dinner time and waited a bit longer - but it was sooo worth the wait! The food is absolutely delicious! I had the lamb gyro! My husband had the short ribs with double veggies in place of mash potatoes. Woww... super moist! Highly recommend!

    Wild Cod - woohoo
    Melinda L.

Was looking for a quick protein boost after a workout. This restaurant caught my eye because they had a signboard that indicated they serve wild codfish. It was unusual to find a fish pita at a Mediterranean restaurant, especially a good quality white fish. I stood in line and ordered the Wild Codfish Pita with a side of tzaziki sauce and garlic sauce. It took a while for the order to arrive. The Codfish Pita was fresh, wholesome and healthy. The tzaziki and garlic sauce lifted the flavors of the fish pita. The portion was average. The place was almost full but it was still possible to find a high table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was OK. The place was bright and large with many tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The area has limited fish options so I am supportive of the restaurant's offering of wild Codfish. Hope other restaurants start offering more quality fish on the menu. They offer a complimentary serving of yogurt ice cream which was more sweet than tart. It was a good complement to the meal.

    Gyro Rice Plate
    Hongsuk S.

Came in for weekend lunch. Seating was easy but the food did take about 30-40 minutes to arrive because it was busy. No problem, understandable. Gyro Rice Plate - $18 The gyro meat is not the traditional thinly slice meat from a rotating spit. The meat was way too thick and it had a different consistency than what I'm used to. The seasoning was just okay. The rest of the plate was just a random pile of stir fried vegetables that was overcooked and overly soggy. Mix Kabob Plate - $21 Mix Kabob Plate's meat quantity was very miniscule compared to its $21 price tag. The beef was cooked medium well and dry, and the chicken was really dry as well. Meats were way too tough to finish. The garlic sauce was really good, though! The saving grace really was the complimentary soft serve at the end. Not as good as fast food soft serve but still was a nice touch. The ratings are high so I'm convinced I came on an off-day. I came expecting 4.3* Mediterranean food. Left without finishing all my food but was happy with the soft serve.

Grilled Chicken Caesar wrap add garlic sauce and fries
    Karessa A.

I'm not one to order wraps but once I ordered the grilled chicken Caesar wrap 3x in a row! Definitely add garlic sauce and get an extra on the side. Only bad thing to say is it's hit or miss on size/quality.

    Salmon pita
    Ahlyssa C.

I went here for dinner with my family and the place was ehh... the salmon pita was lacking flavor and my lemon drop was tart with no sugar rim. 3 entrees, an appetizer, 1 alcohol drink and kids meal was over $100. Very pricey in my opinion and I did not think the food was amazing. The service was OK. I went am hope before closing so everyone seemed like they just wanted to go home. I wouldn't come back to this place. There def are better options for greek food.

Glad I was finally able to try out this place! With so many good places in the Houston area, sometimes we take for granted new places, but also want to support the places that we like so they stay in business. So when the bakery I usually frequent across the street was full, I decided instead of waiting or trying to maneuver the inside of the bakery with 3 young children alone, to go over here because they had halal meat (chicken and gyro options). I was really happy that we were able to find close parking on the street but we usually park a little further down in the parking lot behind all the buildings when we visit city place. I heard that there is free parking in a garage nearby but I did not see any free parking in a garage; the only parking garage I saw had a sign that it was employees only. I saw a picture of what I wanted online and went with the Mediterranean plate which I have to say-- is pricey for the amount of food that you get. I expected it to be larger or for this price (almost $20) I expected it to cost less. Either or. The children options are really nice, they got the basics things, my kids were able to get the small pizza and a halal chicken meal that they enjoyed. I liked that they had a couple of different types of teas to try (ginger peach and black current) because it gets boring to only just have a sweet or unsweet tea option at restaurants. I tried the cookie that you get with the children's meal, and it are really yummy, I regretted not purchasing a few of those separately. We especially love the fact that they had frozen yogurt for a sweet treat after the meal. The inside of the place was very aesthetic looking and we are looking forward to visiting again soon.

One of my favorite places to eat. The pizzas are delicious. The quality of the flour and the cheese are spot on. I always have a hard time deciding between the pizza and the Philly cheesesteak.

Dined in for late lunch/happy hour while killing some time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was high class, beautiful, comfortable and casual.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Counter service was prompt and efficient. Food was very tasty and satisfying. So many options and choices on the menu that have enticed me to want to return.

They make all their dressings homemade, and hand bread many of their fried items like mushrooms, onion rings and stuffed jalapeños. They have salads, burgers, and 12 different comfort food entrees. They also have a daily special menu that spotlights a couple items of the day and their coffees, soups and dessert. They are a beer and wine restaurant. One unique item they have on the menu is a fork and knife hot dog which costs $13. Wow, this better be one awesome hot dog. The day I visited, they had a party for about 30 senior citizens that were celebrating a birthday. Normally that many customers in a single group would make a restaurant pretty loud, but it was actually extremely quiet in the restaurant. Every good restaurant does something slightly different to set them apart. Here at dinner, they give you a dinner roll slathered in melted honey butter and rosemary. The roll itself seemed to be made from frozen dough, but the tasty butter made it edible. I ordered the chicken club and kept the fries as my side. As far as presentation, I'd give it a C. The fries are frozen breaded fries. The sandwich tasted better than it looked thankfully. Service was good throughout my time here. Overall, the meal was good enough and I will be coming back to try other options.

Our waitress was Zoe and she set the bar high! As soon as we were seated Zoe hurried to our table to take our drink orders and since it was our first time, she gave us a little history about the restaurant and walked us through the menu and her favorites, she even offered us a tour of the place. I was truly amazed by the attention she gave us. The food came out extra hot and fresh I ordered the Double Cut Pork Chop 18oz, my hubby had the New York Strip 14oz and my daughter had Sliders from the kid's menu. The Pork Chop was so juicy, tender and full of flavor, I just loved the smokey flavor. The steak was made to his liking and was also juicy a thick cut and the mashed potatoes paired with these entrees are some of the best I have had. The whiskey cake was moist and you could definitely taste the whiskey in it, yum! Ambiance, this place was neat it almost felt like an experience. Zoe mentioned that the place had original hardwood floors since the place opened and was the only establishment near the railroad during the 1900s. The restaurant has multiple floors and plenty of seating. There is always plenty of parking, even if you have to walk a block or two, but they do have paid parking around the corner. If you pay attention to the daily specials, you can do really well in terms of value. Sunday's pork chop dinner for $19 is regularly priced at $42, for example. (Please see my photo of the daily specials board.) That said, this former bordello does have some downsides, which I need to mention: First, it is too loud -- nothing sound-absorbing in the place, and the jazz music recording was turned up the day we were there. This caused communication problems with the waiter, who misheard me, and I really couldn't hear what he was saying. This is not an intimate spot for deep conversations. Second, parking is a challenge. No parking lot. There are some spaces across the street along the railroad tracks, but not enough. I parked on the other side of the tracks and hiked over the rails, but that is a little dangerous. There are some $ 5-a-day parking lots up the road. Is the pork chop better than Perry's? I liked the mashed potatoes, and the meat was properly prepared for sure, but the seasoning was not exactly right for me -- I think they added cinnamon, though my wife thinks it was allspice, and a hint of sugar. An East Texas sort of flavor--I prefer Perry's. But a close second for sure. Allec, I can't find your card, so I know I am spelling your name wrong, but you were a great waiter, and so I am giving this shack a 5.
