4 minus.... I used to love this restaurant chain. Unfortunately the location near my house closed many years ago. Saw a location when visiting The Woodlands, so we stopped. Food was good, just not as good as it was years ago. Salad trio (my old favorite) and Chicken Alfredo were what we tried. Portions were a bit smaller and no more French Bread. read more

I was excited about coming here, I remember another Cafe Express in Houston that I used to love. Sadly this was not as good. I actually ordered the same Pasta with Shrimp Scampi, and it was cold and the "sauce" felt a bit solidified because of how cold it was. It was also a different flavor and I was not crazy about it. I ordered a tomato soup as a side and it was extremely sweet and a bit spicy. Not my favorite combination. I am not coming back to this place, I don't recommend it either. read more

Having been to their opening I took my boyfriend back for an after movie dinner date. We ordered the roast half chicken, lemon chicken, and the bruschetta. Roast half chicken was good, lemon chicken pretty good, but lacked some seasoning. The pesto pasta salad side was very dry and had no seasoning at all. We got up for salt and pepper as everything seemed under seasoned this time. I added balsamic vinegar and oil to the pasta salad to liven it up a bit. The bruschetta was the biggest disappointment as it is just bread, not toasted, smeared with roasted red peppers and pesto. The manager came by and we shared our thoughts on the bread. She did offer to take it off the bill, but we ate it so we said it was fine. She did say however they had no way to toast bread. This seemed weird as they cook entrees and have grilled chicken. Both seem like ways to toast bread, and seem especially weird to not be able to toast in a place that sells sandwiches. read more

This is definitely a nice spot for a quick fresh lunch! They have a lot of salad, sandwich and soup options. Everything tastes pretty good, but nothing necessarily stood out to me. I wish the chicken pesto sandwich was more toasted and the cheese was melted. I had to ask them to heat my sandwich up because it wasn't warm as it should've been. The Caesar salad tasted pretty standard. I did enjoy the dressing they used. My favorite part was the macaroni and cheese. It tasted like good quality cheese was used and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a lot of seating open and it had a very cute and modern vibe to the place. You order at a counter and get a number before sitting down and you get your food delivered to you. There was no one in like when we went so we ordered quickly and got our food within 10 minutes. If you're looking for a quick lunch spot with a variety of options I would recommend this! read more

Piss poor service to start with. First time visiting so when I walked in I wasn't sure how to get the online order we placed. Once I made to the register the gentleman showed me where to wait. When I first walked in I saw a bag on the counter and assumed it was someone else's but after being there nearly 10 minutes, the bag I first saw was actually our order, so express at preparing they are but not at placing the order in your hands. When I made it back to the office I got a turkey club instead of a chicken salad. Not impressed at all. What food I did get was good but it wasn't what I wanted. The most underwhelming salad I've had in ages. I ordered the Shrimp and Avocado removed the salsa and the honey mustard dressing and added the signature creamy parmesan. It took 10 minutes so I assumed they were cooking the shrimp. They were cold and small with nothing but a mild shrimp taste so almost tasteless. The dressing had no flavor. The avocado and small amount of bacon on the salad were the only positives. The cashier was kind enough to come check on me after I finished my meal so hopefully she will carry my comments back to the kitchen that I shared with her. read more

Cafe express left a little to be desired. My coworker and I came in on lunch and ordered the pasta puttanesca to go and a side Caesar salad. The salad itself was your typical romaine, shredded parm, and croutons. But the dressing was much thinner and less flavorful than most classic Caesar dressings. My pasta was so heavily drenched in oil that it spilled though the bag and ruined my leather wallet that was near it. The pasta itself was over cooked and the olives capers, and tomatoes seemed like an afterthought thrown on top instead of infused and cooked throughout. read more

I was quite delighted when I saw in the paper that this Cafe Express had opened. I used to frequent their downtown location when I worked in town and have missed it. This location is smaller than their downtown but still has a clean airy feeling. My wife and I each had their Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich with fries. This was her first experience with Cafe Express. We like that the drinks are served in heavy glassware and the food plates are nice heavy china, but the skimpy paper napkins ruined the effect. It feels like the seating is a little cramped but it's not too bad. The food was good, but not great. Good but not awesome ... but we would both come again. So Ima recommend. read more

I used to love, love, love this place! I was super excited when I saw a location had opened by my office. I usually ordered a salad, but I opted to try the Turkey Burger, mainly because the sign said it was back by popular demand. I have to admit a was a little disappointed with this choice. I don't think they used any fat to hold the meat together, it was kinda falling apart a little. The taste was bland too. What really gave the sandwich flavor was the pesto mayo. I wouldn't recommend the popular demand. Instead, I say stick with the salads, which are always very good. read more

Found this place, by chance, when looking for a good soup and sandwich lunch. Upon walking in, the place looks very lite and fresh, clean and organized. Very pleasing. I had a half Blt sandwich and potatoe soup with a slice of garlic bread. Blt was amazing and fresh. Potato soup was delicious. Garlic bread was heaven. I love the Chicken Salad sandwich and have made a commitment to eat there every time we are up there ( at least once a week). But - I am rethinking this. Our soup is either lukewarm or cool. If you send it back, they heat it to boiling in the microwave. Why can't they just have either hot soup or no soup. read more

2/11/23-I got the $5 happy hour lettuce wraps with chicken salad in them. Three came to an order and it was a nice amount. I also got a Caesar salad. It was nothing special, but that chicken salad was just like I remembered. I haven't eaten at Café Express in about five years I sure missed their food and the blackcurrant iced tea. Delicious, fresh food. With great service. The place is cute. I fell in love with its blue and white and charming staff.

We went there last weekend. The food was really bland, and the soup was cold to cool. They had several dirty tables and it was hard to find a spot. While fixing your drinks there is a narrow walk way, with the staff waiting there and walking through. It was quite uncomfortable to try and make your drink.
