This is the best Mediterranean restaurant and all of Metro Woodlands. Their food is made fresh, it is reasonably priced and very flavorful.

Zara's has some amazing food that you can usually only find in Houston. I had their Chicken Souvlaki cooked on a wood fire grill and served with mixed vegetables, Basmati rice, Tzatziki sauce with warm pita bread. We had a group of 12 people, we had great service and everyone really enjoyed their dinner. I look forward to going back and trying more of their menu! read more

I got the beef shawarma & it was delicious. I thought the flavor was really good & the meat was very tender. The garlic sauce was good too. We also tried the Zara sambosa which was just ok. Fabulous experience ordering DoorDash. I could not believe they gave me 4 large pita bread halves for one kebab plate. Roasted red pepper dip was fresh and delicious and perfectly garnished. Ordering food delivery is always a crapshoot. You read the reviews knowing sit in service is often different from to go or delivery service, but you take the chance. The lamb chops were a bit fatty and overcooked, but flavorful. They also were not as meaty as those pictured by eat-in diners. The rice was a bit dry. The salad was good, but thankfully I had my own utensils, as the requested utensils and napkins were not included. As they were delivering to a hotel, that should have been double checked. I really wanted to love this meal after all the glowing reviews. If in the area again, I'd try dining in to see if I can experience what the other reviewers have. I would take this review today as an opportunity for the restaurant to improve on the taste of their food. We ordered the lentil soup which was ok but needed some salt and we could add it and they did bring us the salt and pepper. We also ordered the Salmon which was not as juicy as usual and the chicken kubeidah were really not good. It was so much like a leather texture and can not even break it. Very dry and I can say I have never had such terrible preparation. Zara's Does Not Disappoint Our lunch at Zara's was a very good experience, as usual. We went here for a late lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. We arrived shortly after 1 pm, so most of the lunch crowd was gone and we had our pick of tables. I chose the gyro sandwich wrap with a side of sweet potato fries. However, the staff came back to our table after a while and let us know they were out of sweet potato fries, and, thus, we substituted regular fries. Our first time trying Zara's and it was a nice experience. Spacious and clean dining area. I had the Mediterranean Salmon Platter and Pure Mango Juice. If you love mangos you'll enjoy the pure mango juice, no additives, which I did. The salmon was flavorful and moist. Very delicious, just watch for bones (I found three). The rice I wasn't a fan of. It didn't really have a taste to it except mint, which I suspect is what they sprinkle on top. The side feta salad had a nice subtle flavor. My mom had a vegetarian appetizer platter. Overall she wasn't impressed with her four choices, and mentioned the falafel was salty. The pita bread was soft and warm. Service was good, no problems. Shawarma Lover's Platter 4/5 - $17 Two meats of your choice with two sides, garlic sauce, and two pita bread. Meats we did chicken and beef Shawarma and sides, we got salad and hummus. Chicken was the winner here, not too dry, well seasoned. Beef was a little bland and slightly dry. Hummus was good but not great. Garlic sauce was on point! Couldn't get enough of this. I played basketball earlier that morning and was feeling hungry enough to eat the entire contents of whatever kitchen I got to first. Normally, I'd probably order a gyro, but I saw that the chicken shawarma was a top highlight, so I went with that and some waffle fries on the side. It hit the spot and healed me of my hangry ailment. I also ordered tiramisu, but to be honest, I didn't love that. It had clearly been frozen before and seemed like it was straight out of a box. But I did order a mango lasso to drink and that was great. My wife ordered a gyro and it had a very strong lime taste, which neither of us were a big fan of. I felt bad because she chose this place but did not love her meal. She probably would have given 2-stars if this was her review, and to be honest, I don't blame her because I agree that hers was not the best. But my order was enjoyable. I also appreciated the hostess/server's flexibility. We initially ordered this food to-go, but ended up changing our plans and wanted to dine in. They didn't mind that and also were kind enough to bring us a mango juice for our son and didn't even charge us for it.
