Zara's has a variety of different Mediterranean fusion meals that we have enjoyed. We've had the gyro torta, gyro wrap, shish kebob combo and now the Kebabalicious Platter. All of their food is amazing. Their Zara Special iced tea has a nice sweetness of jasmine in it. The service is superb where they make sure the food is at your table and checked in on us from time to time. The ambiance is lovely where you have varied seating. I loved the flowers on display around the restaurant as well as the colorful mosaic lamps. I took some photos of them. They're so beautiful. We've been coming to Zara's for about a year now, and it's been our go-to spot for Mediterranean food since moving to the area. The atmosphere feels warm and authentic. Very homey and family-oriented. My favorites are the gyro plate with salad and basmati rice. For anyone who loves hummus, I recommend branching out and trying the muhammara. Roasted red pepper, garlic, pomegranate molasses, walnuts...it's a hidden gem, I don't even know how those flavors work together. The halloumi cheese is good; it tastes just like a mozzarella stick without the breading, my go to low carb option. On the flip side the rice pudding was a miss for me. The rice was al dente and the pudding itself lacked flavor. The beef shawarma had decent seasoning but came out dry and chewy. What I appreciate about Zara's is the variety. There's a wide selection of dishes, so there's something for everyone, and the drink menu is just as extensive. They don't serve alcohol, but the mocktail section is worth a try. If you're into hookah, they offer that as well. My biggest gripe is consistency. When the food is good, it's really good but there are times it feels like it's been reheated, and that's disappointing. When I first found this place, it was always spot on. Lately, not as much. Cleanliness is another concern. My husband once spotted a roach by his side. One roach wouldn't normally bother me..it happens..but after reading several similar reviews, it makes me question the cleanliness. All in all, Zara's is a great low-key neighborhood spot but not everything on the menu is a winner. I never had a problem with the service, and when there was something wrong they're more than willing to accommodate you and rectify the situation. read more

First experience - great! Second - not the best but palatable. This experience - absolutely not. Beyond unacceptable and appalling! It's one thing to have someone debate with you about whether or not the meat is undercooked, it's an entirely different thing to find a roach in your child's food... yep, a baby ROACH. See picture for reference. It wasn't on top either - it was buried in the rice, crawling around, alive and well. Enough said. Will NOT be returning. Ever. Shame on you Zara's. read more

We came here because we were having a late dinner. The interior is nice with nice looking bathroom. Service was fine as well. My husband had the schwarma platter and he liked it. He got the hummus and rice and thought they tasted good. The meat has a nice tanginess which was lovely. My friend and I shared the mixed grill platter which came with schwarma, koobideh, kabobs, rice and salad. It was a good amount of food. The one critique though was all the meats though flavorful were on the dry side. Usually koobideh is really fatty and juicy. Flavors were all there though. Baba ganoush was really good with a nice smoky flavor. 2 friends got the lamb shank which they said were really tender. The feta salads were nice. The one thing that soured our meal a bit and knocked this place to a 3 was that there was a roach that crawled behind our booth. Yes it can happen at any restaurant, but the response to the roach by the staff was "sorry, we just sprayed", which didn't seem like an adequate response. Our friend's spouse said that the falafel was really tasty so if we ever go back I'd want to try that. It's definitely nice to have this type of food on the north side of Houston without having to go all the way to Westheimer or Hillcroft. read more

We have ordered from here multiple times. The food is pretty good, but the customer service, not so much. Ordered lunch online, said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Went to the restaurant 25 minutes later and the door was locked. Called and they said that they're closed today until 1:30 pm. I told her I placed an order and they already charged me. She said she didn't know why, but she had 2 orders via door dash and grub hub that she hadn't accepted so they didn't have to do them. I understand they had issues in the kitchen, but now I don't have lunch for my family because she didn't decline the order or disable it for the time they weren't available. Also, she said I could come in at a later time and they'd refund the charge that already went through. Very frustrating. read more

WOW Based on recommendations we ordered the chicken shawarma with rice and the chicken kabob platter--Two different flavors both dishes but we couldn't stop sharing. Simply amazing. Unfortunately we won't be eating here anymore, and specifically not getting take out. Twice the side salad that comes with our meals has been old, soggy and wilted. It looks like it had been dressed and left over from the day before and they sold it anyway. The food tastes good, but if I have to question the freshness, I can't talked that chance. read more

Today's lunch was fabulous! We thoroughly enjoyed it. We had two lamb shanks and that has to be one of the best dishes here. I was perfectly satisfied with my gyro salad. I needed something light. We ordered the hummus and the apple tea! The tea tray was so fancy! Ahmed served us today and another lovely young lady- I didn't catch her name. Wow!! Amazing experience! We enjoyed the hummus sampler for starters. There are three type of hummus samples. The first was a traditional hummus, the second one was a red pepper hummus and the last one was a spicy hummus. We enjoyed all three. I prefer spicy so the spicy one was my fav. The pita was tasty with the hummus. The pita is flavorful! I had the Greek feta salad with gyro meat. It was a nice salad with lightly pickled red onion. It had cucumbers, tomatoes, artichoke and romaine lettuce. Sometimes a salad can be a little bland but this one had the right amount of salad dressing. We also had the seasoned meat quesadilla. It had traditional hummus on the side and saffron balsaatti rice. The quesadilla was a large pita versus a flour tortilla. It was so filling. The service was on point! The staff was attentive and helpful. Alcohol is not served at the restaurant but it looks like a nice variety of smoothies, juices and mocktails. Nice traditional ambiance. I'm surprised I haven't already reviewed this place, considering how many times I've come here. I'm going to go with a 4 star review, because sometimes they are a 5 star experience, and sometimes they are a 3 star experience. So this falls somewhere in the middle. It also shows you how inconsistent they are. I do you have to say that their service is almost always great! I appreciate the good service more than anything else, because a lot of times these type of restaurants (Arab, desi, etc) have good food and good ambiance, but don't have good service, so good service and professionalism is always welcomed.  Their kids meals are great and my kids enjoy the chicken nuggets and fries. They also seem to really love the milkshakes, but that's a given. For the adult meals, they're charging higher than I think any of us in our group last visit were used to, because pretty much everyone commented on how high their prices are. The amount of food you get is also not reflective on the price. Because if the price is high and if we get a good amount of food, it would be understandable but the quantity is just okay.  I also think that the fun type of drinks like the little mocktails are also highly priced because the main charge in cocktails is for the alcohol, and since we don't have that in the mocktails, the price should not be as high. I think it's a good place to come as a group because they have ample seating and are able to take a lot of orders at one time. I like the ambiance a lot and the atmosphere is festive. When there are other people in the restaurant, and they seem to be on top of the orders, with hot and fresh food, I think it's a great place to visit right here in Spring. read more

The reviews in here are mixed however, I will tell you that our experience was nothing like the one star reviews that have been posted. That's not to take away from what happened to those individuals, but our service was amazing and the food was outstanding. The restaurant itself has a really nice ambience and their sweet tea is divine. The meat was very well seasoned and the rice as well. So, for this Mother's Day, Zara's Mediterranean it is and my mom was so happy with the food here. Each of us ordered our own plate and honestly it was filling. On top of the food, the orders with kabobs comes with pita bread and garlic sauce. I'm guilty I asked extra sauce but that sauce was bomb. Also, it's so beautiful inside and outside. My mom wanted some pictures by the fountain outside and they turned out great. The only thing I felt was it was a little pricy but after eating the food, I felt it's all worth the money. I was looking for a Mediterranean place up North and Zara's popped up as close to me. It had decent reviews so gave it a try. The place is easy to find with ample parking. Note: The door is really heavy. Upon walking in, I was met with really beautiful decor. The colorful lanterns and the lights reminded me of my travels in the area. Service was quick. I was seated promptly and the waiter made himself available for any questions I had. It was around lunch time. I knew I wanted a wrap and was deciding between chicken shish kebab or chicken kefta. The waiter recommended chicken kefta saying it was easier to eat. Since this sounded new and different, I went with it. Taste wise, I thought it tasted decent. However, the chicken was a bit on the chewy side. It also didn't look aesthetically appetizing. I think it's because of the skinny patty shape and it may have been a bit overcooked. I finished it but think I probably should've ordered the shish kebab. The lentil soup was the perfect side portion. Small and enough to hold me until the main dish showed up. I didn't realized it came with chopped green onions and parsley as a topping. It was okay as an addition but think I could skip this or have it on the side instead. The Honey Delight drink was AMAZING. I am coming back for this drink. The menu actually had an extensive listing of fresh beverages. I really love this. Overall positive. The food came out a bit different than expected but I'd still come back to try other things on their menu. read more

I came here for dinner with my husband and had a delightful meal. The interior of this restaurant is absolutely stunning and vibrant. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the AC happening to be out when we came, so they made sure we had a fan by our table to help keep us cool. They do have a long menu with lots of options, so we settled on some of their fresh juices, samosas, I got their gyro and tabbouleh, and my husband got the gyro torta. The interior is so beautiful! We've been to the other location and are so happy that they've opened it up closer to our house. Their Zara iced tea is so sweet and floral, I highly recommend. Their menu has a large variety of food. I usually get the gyro platter and get babaganoush as a side, delish! Today I tried something new, kebabolicous platter. Our server was so polite and accommodating, he even offered to recommend some dishes if we weren't sure what to order. Everything was delicious and filling. Their tzatziki sauce is the best I've had, lemony, minty so delicious! I ate half my plate and took the left overs home. Our waiter gave me a refill of my tea to go and a tzatziki sauce to go with my left overs. If you haven't tried this place, you defiantly should! read more

Our server was a super nice young lady that was friendly and attentive. She seemed genuinely pleased that we enjoyed our food. The wife and I shared the Zara's mixed grilled platter (see the pic I posted). The plate was huge and had a wide variety or meats served with rice, salad, and a couple dips. Hard to pick a favorite meat from the dish; each was so juicy, well seasoned, and flavorful. Unfortunately we didn't take pictures of the yogurt shakes we ordered. This was our first time at Zara's and my husband & I truly enjoyed our whole experience! The restaurant is very clean, welcoming. The decor is beautiful & calming. Our dinner was delicious! We tried the beef kabobs with Greek feta salad & basmati rice ... sooo good!! The specialty iced tea was amazing & a cup of Turkish coffee was the perfect ending to a fabulous dinner! Zaras used to be very good but last 3X we went I've been disappointed because they will mix fresh beef with old meat and don't think customers notice this. If you a kabob for example, you can tell some meat are tender fresh and half are not. This is too frequent now that it's not by accident. read more

Great Mediterranean Food! The Service was attentive and clear. The restaurant was nearly empty when I went but the food did not display that same emptiness when it came to the taste and flavor. The Waffle fries are crisp, soft and as light as you can expect Waffle fries. I had the Chicken Shawarma Wrap and the bread, light, soft and the perfect robustness to contain the marinated chicken along with the different veggies. Ice tea. I recommend you try their signature iced tea. My hubby and I were craving Mediterranean but didn't feel like driving towards it he Galleria area but we've passed by Zara's many times and decided to give it a try. This is a quaint mom-n-pop restaurant, cute decor and roomy seating. We started off with the trio hummus sampler (traditional hummus, basil pesto, red bell pepper) which the favorite was definitely the basil pesto. The olive oil used tasted so fresh and rich, not oily taste. The pita bread was bland but served its purpose. I had the chicken and beef kabob combo, chicken was flavored well, however my meat was cooked well done when I asked for medium well, thankfully their homemade hot sauce helped not make it so dry.
