Consistency in quality and quantity of portions of food and service from this business has been my only experience with this location!

I finally decided to give Chimac a try after seeing the sign advertising 17,000+ five star reviews, and I have to say my first impression wasn't so good. The young lady who took my order was friendly, helpful, and provided excellent customer service. What puzzled me was how quickly my food came out. By the time I put my wallet away and walked over to find a seat, my order was already ready. I initially assumed the cook had been listening as I ordered and that the freshly grilled chicken had just come off the grill, been tossed in the sauce and boxed up. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I got home about five minutes later, and the chicken was only barely warm. It tasted like it had been cooked an hour earlier and then tossed with sauce before being served to me. The rice was also very dry and clumpy instead of light and fluffy. Had the chicken been hot and the rice not clumpy , my experience would have been much better. While the customer service was excellent, the quality of the food wasn't a five star for me. Trying Chimac came about since we were in the Cypress area and I happened to see a promotion for this food spot on social media. I remembered it was nearby, so I told my boyfriend we might as well take advantage of the deal and try somewhere new while we were in the area. When we got there, the place looked renovated. There were a couple tables inside and the ordering counter was immediately on the left when you walked in. The workers at the counter were helpful while we ordered. We both ended up getting the kbbq chicken bowls. My boyfriend got the spicy version and I got the regular with added cabbage because I love the little crunch it gives. The food came out pretty quickly and we decided to eat inside. Honestly, the bowls were good and very filling for the size we ordered. It's a pretty simple meal , rice on the bottom and chicken on top ,but sometimes simple just works. While I was eating it, I kept telling my boyfriend the chicken tasted super familiar and I couldn't figure out why at first. Then it finally hit me, it tastes almost identical to the teriyaki chicken from Panda Express. And honestly, I didn't mind that at all because I actually like that flavor. So if you've had Panda Express teriyaki chicken before, that's probably the closest comparison I could give. One thing that definitely made the bowls even better was adding the soy sauce packets they had on the side. That extra flavor pulled everything together for me. Overall, I enjoyed it. It's not anything super fancy or life-changing, but it was a simple, tasty meal that didn't feel too heavy, which I personally liked. The original location of CHIMAC This location off of 1960, never have peas or carrots. They don't receive them to sell out. The rice here for the large fried rice was hard and undercook, my son couldn't complete it, and he really tried to fight pass the harden bits of rice, but he didn't consume even half of the meal. They were closed when we received our ordered, and the staff departed once we discovered the undercooked (or either outdated rice) textured. I reached out by phone, I can't remember if I left a voicemail or the number wouldn't adore me to, either way it didn't get resolved from this location. BEWARE! I had food poisoning after eating here on Monday 8/10/26. I have eaten here often over the years, and redeemed my $10 birthday reward on this day. Normally I have the bowl, but this time decided to have the chicken sandwich combo with onion rings and wings (total cost approx $15) since I was hungry and hadn't eaten anything all day. Approximately 4 hours later the diarrhea began, and shortly after violent vomiting. I reported the incident on Tuesday to the manager on duty who promised a call back by "upper management". No refund was given, so I expected that to happen when the owner (or upper management as she called it) contacted me. Today, Thursday, after no return call I called again to follow up. To my surprise I was given quite a bit of attitude of how they didn't try to make me sick, wouldn't offer to make the food again because they would "give me food poisoning again" and that the owner wasn't available. Also instead of the owner (who I think is named David from meeting briefly while picking up food in the past) contacting me, I now would need to write a letter to an email address to explain again. No apology was given, no consideration provided and an overall uncaring and unprofessional way that this has been handled. The young lady said that a refund was issued (which I have no proof of through the Toast app nor my credit card). Bad things happen, though this should never happen in food service. The only reason for 4 stars is because the service is not that great. When I walked in I was not greeted and you order yourself on the kiosk. I ordered three large shrimp bowl with fries rice and kimchi + chicken. The food was great and very filing. They are very generous with the meat too. The hour lemon pepper wings were Way too salty. I did like the honey garlic pepper wings better. The food did not take long as all for takeout. So def be back again with I'm craving a bowl. So, I decided to give their bowls a try. When I walked in, no one looked up or greeted me -- I actually had to say something first. The cashier was nice, though, so points for that. But they really need to work on their customer service. Then there was the overwhelming smell of Fabuloso. It was so strong it almost made me walk right back out! My heart dropped when she said $27 -- like, how?! Turns out they charge $3 extra for noodles, and I regret it because they were super mushy. Should've stuck with the rice. Chimac is a nice quick restaurant that gives you a switch up from the more common options around it while also still serving up familiar favorites. If you are in the Northwest area of Houston it is definitely worth a try. I first tried Chimac back in 2019 and of the items ordered one of them was a solid hit steak bowl while the other was a complete miss chicken bowl. The bowls then were plainer and didn't come with as many items. Since then any time I've gone I've been very happy with the food I received. I by no means am an expert or even heavily versed in Korean BBQ but for the fast food/fast casual food they put out I enjoy it. The main draw of Chimac is their KBBQ bowls and most times I go there that is exactly what I get. They also offer other times such as chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, fried fish and shrimp and Philly cheese steak subs. Even though all these options are offered 90% of the time I'm probably getting either the Spicy KBBQ Chicken Bowl or the Korean Jerk Chicken Bowl. They also offer steak, shrimp and pork options for the bowls. The bowls can be served over either white rice, fried rice, noodles or salad. It gets topped with cabbage, grilled onions and kimchi. I'm pretty sure every time I've eaten from here I've had it over fried rice and recommend you do too. The wings aren't a stand out compared to other items they offer but they do have some cool flavors and they are good. I haven't tried their tenders or seafood but I have had the Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Philly Cheese Steak Sub. I've had the sandwich twice and the first time I had it, it was banging. I don't usually be eat tomatoes on my burgers or sandwiches but it had a green tomatoe that with the fried chicken was just fire. Now I will say the second time I had it, it was only okay so I'll need to try it a third time to see which is more typical. I only recently had the sub and it was really good. It may not stand up to a place that specializes in Phillys but for a Korean BBQ place it over delivered on what I expected. The fries are also good here. I'm pretty sure they're just frozen fries but they have a nice golden crisp on them and are much better than the frozen fries I feel like most similar places serve. I haven't tried it here but they also offer kimchi fries. This is one of those places that you might look at the menu and think they offer a lot of options but they seem to do a good job of making sure what they offer is good. read more

I've had this place saved for some time to try so I was pretty excited when I realized I was in the area and hungry. Unfortunately, I just didn't think it was great. I ordered the KBBQ Jerk Chicken small bowl with white rice, Kim chi, and cabbage. It came in at under $10, so price wise it's a good deal for the amount of food you get. The white rice was cooked well, but everything else in the bowl was just underwhelming. The jerk chicken barely had any flavor and was super greasy. The cabbage was also extremely bland. I guess the Kim chi was the most flavorful of everything but there wasn't a lot of it and compared to the amount of grease, the flavor was barely there. The bowl came with a little sauce cup. That helped cut through the grease. It's like a mayonnaise based citrusy sauce you can drizzle on top.
