I had a terrible experience at this establishment. I found a roach in my drink, which was already unacceptable, but the situation only got worse from there. When I told the staff, they refused to let me leave unless I paid for food I didn't even finish because of the incident. They kept me there for nearly 3 hours waiting for the police over a situation that should have been handled professionally and respectfully. After being held there for hours, I finally decided to leave, and one of the employees put her hands on me. No customer should ever be treated this way. After finding a cockroach inside one of our drinks, we immediately lost our appetite and decided we did not want any more food or service. Instead of handling the situation professionally and apologizing, the staff became rude and disrespectful toward us. We also felt targeted and treated unfairly, which made the situation even worse. Rather than trying to resolve the issue calmly, they called the police because we refused to pay after finding the cockroach in our drink. If it was possible for me to leave 0 stars I would. My sister went after work (45 minute drive from where we live) to enjoy pho (she's been to this place plenty of times before today and loved it until today's experience) she got there ordered her food and drink. When she received her drink she saw a German roach and refused to finish her meal or drink. The worker/ manager came over and took her drink and offered her a new one as well as new food however once seeing the roach she no longer wanted to be serviced there. My sister requested the whole thing be comped. The pregnant lady Thi refused to comp anything besides the drink. My sister became upset and refused to pay. Thi then told her she had to stay till the cops showed up if she was refusing to pay. I was nearby and showed up and told Thi it made no sense for my sister to pay for a meal she didn't eat. Thi said she offered to pack it up to go however that didn't matter, my sister and her bf wouldn't eat it after seeing a roach. I then told my sister to just go wait in her car. Thi saw them step out and decided it was okay to place her hands on my sister (Thi is pregnant and so am I) so I stepped in and then a taller worker stepped in and got loud between Thi and I. There was also a bystander who we loudly announced to that there was a roach and she got angry with us saying that whatever we're dealing with doesn't have to be brought up to the other customers. My sister in law was with me and the bystander got "tough" because she's apparently not the "one" whatever her dumb ass meant. The said same bystander then threatened to call ICE on us because we're Latino despite us being US Citizens. All this to say is they have bad manners and a dirty environment. This place is unsanitary, unprofessional, and a horrible environment. Not only did the table across from us find a roach in their meal, the staff tried to still make them pay for everything, it looked like they didn't even touch anything. They were young and polite, which is why I think the staff was trying to take advantage of the situation. It ended up escalating, even one of their customers started threatening ICE for some reason, to the table and their family that had eventually arrived. I stuck around to make sure they were okay then eventually the police came, but I 1000% won't be returning, it was actually very embarrassing to watch on the restaurants part. read more

Pho Town is the home of the phoritto, a pho + burrito hybrid that was in the limelight of the foodie world several years ago. As pho-riffic as Houston is, this is only place I've known that makes it. Thankfully they're more than just the novelty item, as their massive portions and good service make them a viable Viet option in the north. The place is modest and has enough seating for 20 peeps or less. Save for a small collection of tables in the front, most of their seating comes in a series of 4-top booths. There is a bit of a homey vibe and the staff is usually bustling in and out of the kitchen. The food, especially the rice plates and noodle bowls are served in very large portions. Other restaurants may use large dishware to give off the appearance of portion but Pho Town really fills it up. Their bun thit nuong was enormous, as was their com tam combo. Taste wise, they get a thumbs up and the prices seem solid as well. I can see why this would be a popular neighborhood choice. Unlike the rest of their dishes, the phoritto was more like a small roll than a 'rito. (#1) The rice paper exterior feels mushy and unstable, which made me initially nervous to eat. However the pho broth that comes with it was so good that I could have easily slurped that up on its own. (#2) It's basically a wrap with a French dip feel, which seems gimmicky but a sort of fun, edible one at that. They also serve a nice Viet coffee as well. It was sort of thick, velvety-like with a near chocolate finish. Not my usual preference when it comes to ca phes, but this one was clutch enough that I'd consider ordering it each time. I anticipate that I'll be back more often than not. Only next time, I'll bring an appetite and other hungry companions to enjoy the experience. ___________ (#1) I hate this term and you should too. Still freaking delicious! After a long day, eating some wholesome Vietnamese food, you just can't go wrong! We ordered banh mi and grilled pork vermicelli and two Thai teas! The banh mi passed the Deborah bread test! It was crispy and chewy and just the right consistency...and fresh ingredients! The vermicelli missed the mark for me. Most pho places use more of a savory style pork, but Pho Town uses a honey glazed grilled pork, and it sort of ruined it for me. I love savory and the savory marinade usually compliments the spicy well too, but if it's on the sweeter side, not so much. I am also sensitive to the organic, gritty dirt taste that comes from bean sprouts and it also played a part in ruining the overall dish. Still a great place to get the best broth with pho on 1960! The pho was AMAZING! The last 2 places that I had eaten pho from just didn't have the flavor this one did, mom was in the back making the pho and spring rolls (chefs kiss). The wonton soup was also AMAZING, hand made wontons , my 2 year old had that and he loved it almost finished the small size. My sister loved her grilled pork banh mi, my son loved his banh mi as well (don't remember what he got). Definitely coming back for the food and the service! He was sooo great and attentive. This place is pretty good. Anytime I'm craving Vietnamese Food this is one of first options if I'm near 290 & FM 1960 area. The atmosphere is cozy and spacious for a small restaurant. They seem to keep it very clean inside. The selection is healthy and delicious. One of my favorite here is their Honey Glazed Pork Banh Mi. The bread is always perfect and has that nice crunch you're after in a Banh Mi. They have rice plates and Phò here too. And I would also recommend these too. Side note as with most Asian places, this is a seat yourself and pay at the counter style dine in service. You can of course order to go but this stuff is cooked fresh, so I recommend eating in. Service is great, the employees are quick to greet you and get you started. They are well versed with the menu so if you have questions they can answer with confidence. read more

Good decent pho. I love how they are open late. Came home from a drive in the city and was craving pho near home that was open late. This place was the only place that's open past 9pm so it was very convenient. Perfect for the cold that kicked in. There was one table dining it. I came alone. Ordered the spring rolls and the large combination pho. Good decent traditional broth. Nothing crazy. Good pho. Three other tables walked in after me so it got a bit busy. Service was really fast. One guy was working the front. The decor is your traditional pho ambiance. Booth and laminate tables and regular chairs. Nothing special. Eye round steak, while my bowl of pho had a nice presentation I didn't quite enjoyed my broth. I felt that it was missing some ingredients because I had to add hella sriracha & hoisin sauce to give it more flavor. I always taste the broth first before adding anything & sadly I'll have to say this was kind of bland. On the bright side I LOVED their protein, the meats were soooooo tendered & it just melted in my mouth; oh & considering it's a small bowl they hooked it up on the meats so thanks for that. I'm all about depth of flavor because we make some amazing pho during the holidays. It's served with this delicious bowl of liquid gold...bone marrow with a raw egg dropped inside. Came to give this location a try after my sister's hair appointment down the street. Even though the service was a bit rude, the food was pretty good. I came across their general tso's chicken while looking at the menu so I tried ordering that instead of phở since I already ate their phở at their other location in Cypress. Unlike that location, here they gave us a complimentary bowl of soup w/ cilantro in it and somehow I didn't drank it as I waited for my food to come out. Later when I ate my food the chicken had a slight orange taste w/ a little kick near the end from the red pepper flakes that looked like the ones at pizza restaurants they used to garnish the chicken with. But at least I tried it though but I guess I'll still have phở and gỏi cuốn next time. Now moving on to the service, besides the fact that they were rude, one of the waitresses who I think might be in charge of the restaurant left fingerprints on one of our eyeglasses she moved to place a to-go order box we also purchased w/ our meal down. Although they still wore masks as required, some of them seem to not care about them as they wore them or not at all for those working in the back. The walkway to the restrooms was quite a bit rough going to and from even inside the restrooms it was not too dirty compared to outside before or after using it which is good to know though. I was in the area and decided to have lunch because the jasmine tea and pho was always very good. It's been a while since eating here and noticed the name change with new owners. Also thought it strange they had no customers when I arrived and none when I left. The tea is not jasmine and it's watered down. The pho was bland, lacked flavor and not hot. The egg that came with it wasn't cooked completely. To top it off I found a bug crawling on the soup spoons. Lost my appetite, paid and left. For some reason, the food took a long time to come out even though there weren't that much people there. I wasn't in the mood for pho so I got hu tieu instead. Right off the bat, the hu tieu looks a bit greasy and indeed it was. However, the taste was okay. They give you plenty of meat in the hu tieu. Although that was good, it was overwhelming the hu tieu overall. The broth was decent minus a bit of the greasiness. I didn't finished it. It wasn't because I was full but I just didn't want to eat it anymore. The establishment was clean. Friendly service. The interiors were small but plenty of tables to sit. This my new favorite neighborhood pho restaurant and perfect place to come on a chilly, rainy day. The pho came out fresh and the broth had a nice full flavor to it. Their meat was so tender and not chewy which sealed the deal. The medium size pho was just the right size for me but might be too small for some. The Thai tea here is also one of the best I've had.
