Garlic-Soy Glazed Wings
Maddie W.

Had a great overall experience. The vibe is calm and inviting, with a spacious interior. There's also a parking lot across the street with plenty of spots, which is a huge plus for the area. The menu has a lot of great options, and the portion sizes felt very fair for the price. I ordered the bun bò Huế, which tasted very clean and flavorful, with plenty of meat. I also appreciated the add-ins, especially the shrimp paste! For appetizers, we had the garlic soy wings and the bánh xèo tostada, both of which were absolutely amazing. The portions were generous and easily enough for four people to share. We also tried the lemongrass vermicelli. The fish sauce was clearly high quality and generously portioned, which I loved. I do wish there had been a bit more meat, as the noodles and veggies slightly overpowered it, but it was still good for the price. Service was solid throughout. Our waters were consistently refilled, and everything came out at a good pace. Overall, a great spot in The Heights with quality food, a relaxed atmosphere, and good value. Definitely worth checking out.

Located on 19th st in the Heights, with street parking available near by, Moon Rabbit is a good option for a casual weekday dinner or weekend hangout. The interior is modern and the menu leans towards Vietnamese fusion. We started with a few appetizers: roasted oyster, banh beo, and shrimp & pork belly spring roll. All were solid, my top two were the roasters oyster and banh beo. For mains, we shared a Vietnamese cold cut banh mi, and tried out the bun bo hui and pho dac biet. The banh mi (3/5) was a miss for me, while the ingredients were fresh and the texture was right, the sandwich lacked flavor and tasted pretty bland. The bun bo hui (3.5/5) was decent, but didn't quite deliver the bold flavors you'd expect compared to more traditional spots on Bellaire. The pho dac biet (4.5/5) was excellent, with rich and flavorful broth and high quality beef. Overall we enjoyed dinner. While the price is higher than most Vietnamese restaurants, the quality of the ingredients is noticeably better. I'd come back again.

This place is highly recommended online and across different blogs so I took the opportunity to see for myself. Overall, I thought the service, atmosphere and food were amazing. This is pretty traditional Vietnamese food and I tried several things on the menu: shaken beef, the tostada, morning glory egg rolls and a drink. The waitress was super kind and attentive, gave me some recommendations and came to check on me pretty frequently. I made a reservation just to be safe and they do have a dedicated parking lot which is really nice in that area. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for some Vietnamese food and wanting great service.

Salt and Pepper Squid
Yanell R.

First time here came with a friend during their happy hour. Wow absolutely wonderful and flavorful food options. The salt and pepper squid was SO delicious, whatever that green sauce it comes with elevates the plate x10. I could take that sauce home and eat it with everything. Tangy, spicy, but just the right amount of balance to add some freshness to the plate. If you get anything here please try this dish! The garlic soy wings were also really yummy and great portion sizes too. Lots of meat on the bone and flavors all around. The bao bun was yummy but just like your typical buns. The oysters were also really delicious. The vermicelli was a huge portion, definitely shareable for two. There were a lot of greens which kinda overpowered the rest of the dish after mixing all together. This is a cozy ambient spot located in the heights. Great for happy hour or just lunch/dinner. Highly recommend this place! The staff was so friendly and attentive too!

Parking here can be difficult. Its attached to a small lot but you will likely need to park on the street. A reservation is also likely best in order to get seated. The menu is slightly expensive. I would recommend the claypot fish and the spring roll starters.

This place is quite the vibe! It's not very big inside but it's the perfect size. Theres a bar with sports being viewed upon entering and a host station to get seating. Service was great. Very attentive and knowledgeable waitresses. I got the cucumber salad. OMG! Talk about bomb flavors. While on the topic of flavorful I also ordered the fried garlic shrimp. Delicious is how I will sum it up! It came with some type of lime dip and was served in a bed a yummy cabbage. My sister ordered the Miso marinated clay pot fish. Silent scream ... talk about an explosion of flavors. The brussels sprouts were everything. There was a slight kick to the dish but in the best way possible. She also ordered the wings which She said were cooked and seasoned perfectly. We also ordered the pho which came out with all the dressings but I didn't try as I was compelled to finish every drop of My cucumbers LoL I ordered a peach margarita on the rocks which had a burst of delight in every sip. There's seasonal flavors offered here which is a plus. They bring in ice cream from a local creamery which is nice. I wanted to try the ube bc I'm a sucker for it in any form but unfortunately when I attempted to order it had just been sold out so definitely something I'll try next time bc this place is worthy of visiting more than once! My sister got the bread pudding to go so I'm not sure what it tastes like but I'm sure it didn't disappoint. I'll be sure to take more photos before diving in next time. See You next time Moon Rabbit!

This is my last review for the 2025 season and I'm happy to report we are ending on a high note. We arrived a little late to our lunch reservation but were promptly greeted and shown to our table. Kate, our server, was an absolute angel. We ordered the following dishes and they all came out in a timely manner. * Thai Tea - (3.5/5) A solid drink. The tea aromatics were hittin'. Could have been a little bit sweeter, thats all. * Banh Beo - (4/5) Simple and fresh. Tastes of a traditional Banh Beo that reminds me of home. * Veggie Egg Rolls - (4/5) Crispy, flavorful, and refreshing. Wrapping the egg roll with lettuce and dipping in the fish sauce is a match made in heaven. Fish sauce tastes better and more creative than other spots. * Bun Bo Hue - (3/5) Light in flavor and aromas but I was able to amend the situation with the provided fermented sauces. Meats were nice and tender, especially the pork knuckle which was fall off the bone. I just wish there was more to fall off that bone if you catch my drift. * Pho Dac Biet - (4/5) Very flavorful yet light and clean on the palate. Exceptional portions of meats, noodles, and garnishes. Sometimes I find pho broths too salty but this was well balanced. It could have a stronger beef stock flavor but I ain't mad at it. The Pho broth was more aromatic than the Bun Bo Hue broth in my opinion. * Miso Marinated Claypot Fish - (3.5/5) The sauce? *chef's kiss* It's not the traditional fish in clay pot I know and love but I see the vision. I need more sauce to eat with my rice. The brussel sprouts were unexpected but cooked to perfection. Overall, lovely service and chill ambience. I could see a cute first date happening here. If you're looking for classic Vietnamese dishes with a modern twist then this is the place for you. I will definitely be back. Happy New Year

Came by on a whim, on a random weekday at 8pm this place was pack. Did not realize it was a modern Vietnamese place until we saw the menu. The servers were very knowledgeable and patient with the plethora dishes they offered. The prices were also reasonable for something slightly upscale looking place. We had a few drinks at a different bar and came here for food. We ordered the ribeye steak with sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts. Steak came out perfectly tender and charred right off the grill. The potatoes was soft and creamy. and thr brussel sprouts were well seasoned and crunchy. We alo had the bun riel, for 16 dollars the bowl was large. Not bad price for the area. Well seasoned and love the crab and tomato aromatic. We also order calamari. It was sauced very well and really crispy. Perfectly balanced salty and spicy.

Lemongrass Beef Vermicelli Bowl

Moon Rabbit has a hip, clean space that feels carefully considered, the sort of place where the lighting is flattering and everything appears just polished enough to suggest that someone has thought very hard about how you should feel when you arrive. There is something quietly appealing about that kind of effort, especially when so many meals in the city ask nothing of the eye at all. We had the grilled pork bánh mì, a vermicelli bowl with beef, and fried rice with scrambled egg. The food was all right. Pleasant, fairly priced, and entirely agreeable, though nothing quite startled the senses or insisted on being remembered later. It arrived with a certain confidence, but not quite the kind that makes conversation stop for a moment. Perhaps that is the quiet difficulty of opening a Vietnamese restaurant in Houston, where so many smaller, busier places already serve food that feels almost impossible to compete with. Moon Rabbit is not lacking, but neither does it quite persuade you to abandon old loyalties. In a city where people already know exactly where they go for the bowl, the sandwich, or the plate they trust, novelty alone can only carry so much. What it does have in its favor is restraint in pricing, which feels wise. At these prices, the ambience and newer setting make the visit worthwhile. If that changes, I suspect I would return to the simpler places where the room asks less of you and the food somehow says more. Parking, unfortunately, is close to impossible, so expect street parking and a little patience before the evening properly begins.

Easy to grab a table on a weekday night. There's a small parking lot next to it and across the street as well. This is a cute place serving a more modern style traditional Vietnamese cuisines. We ordered a couple of dishes to share: Chicken goi: shredded chicken was dry. There wasn't enough ginger fish sauce dressing for the veggies to really soak in which also made the veggies dry and lacking flavor. Miso marinated clay pot fish: comes in a small clay pot, better for two people to share. The caramel sauce had a lot of flavors, went perfectly with white rice. Shaken beef/bo luc lac: the filet mignon was super tender. Pretty much melts in your mouth. Salt and pepper squid: fried calamari with a spicy green sauce. The sauce really brought out the flavor of the dish. Beef carpaccio: this was a little on the sour side, a bit too much for my liking. Service was friendly and fairly quick. I do like that they put their own twist on the traditional Vietnamese cuisines while keeping the original element of the dish. There were some hit and miss but overall, delish.

The service here ruined the experience. The food wasn't bad, we enjoyed the egg rolls and the banh xeo tostada. However, there should be training on hospitality. We got sat down and looked at the menu for a bit. We weren't sure who was our waiter bc no one came up to us to welcome us or order drinks. We waited a bit and noticed the servers were going to other tables multiple times, but not to ours. I flagged down a waiter and asked if we could order. It felt unwelcoming and like a bother that I asked. We got our food and drinks, but it felt like we were excluded. We tried to just ignore it and eat our food, which again was not bad. There was a was a waiter that came by and checked on us and tried to be hospitable, but it was just too late. Overall, food was decent, but service needs to be worked on.

Lemongrass banh mi - love how they remove the middle of the bread, good amount of meat, crispy bread Egg rolls - crispy, flavorful and hit the spot Clay pot fish - tad on the salty side but still very good Pho - he seemed to have enjoyed it a lot Viet coffee - exactly how I wanted it

Half of lemongrass pork sandwhich. Not California size sandwiches. I thought everything in Texas is big!?
Raul M.

First visit and ordered takeout. Wait was bearable during early dinner time. Honey Lime Chicken vermicelli w classic spring rolls; shrimp and pork belly. Also lemongrass sandwich. The sandwhich is a bit smaller compared to California sandwiches but I like that the sandwhich is toasted and have the crunch when you bite into it. Although small size, they make it up by filling the sandwich full of goodies including the meat. Fullness in every bite! Very clean and comfortable dining area. Would love to come back and enjoy the full dining experience. Large bar area where you can also order from the full menu. Looking forward to coming back to try other items from the menu!

Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. I know inflation is certainly killing many businesses and consumers but even these felt a bit off. Overall - 4.5* This is definitely going to be one of my go tos for crawfish when in the area. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. The quail (not pictured below) also was super flavorful and was cooked so well it tasted like beef. The soup was also light and refreshing, similar to a west lake soup. It was thicker consistency and had cilantro and chucks of lobster. The drinks served were also super balanced. We ordered the mojito and the dragon fruit cocktail. The mojito was the right balance between minty and sweet with just a hint of alcohol flavor. For the dragon fruit cocktail, it was very fruity, on the sweeter side but not overpowering and was topped with egg whites to give it a little bit of frothiness. I will say, we are slightly underdressed to enter this establishment. Everything seemed so luxurious and many people were in formal business wear! Keep this in mind if you go! There is a parking deck right next to the location as well, both self parking and valet!

While the ambiance is great, seating arrangements could use some improvements -- we were sitting in the middle of the restaurant, in front of the front door, so caught the cold draft each time it was opened during winter - so we had to keep our jackets on for the meal. Here's what we got: Chili garlic prawns - 5/5 - delicious! Super flavorful and a nice spicy kick. Lemongrass lamb chop - 4/5 - this was good. Didn't quite taste the lemongrass. Ora king salmon clay pot - 3/5 - this looks beautiful and really unique, but the fish was really fishy. Dubai chocolate mousse/cake - 1/5 - not good. We ate one bite and left the rest. Odd dessert selection for a Vietnamese restaurant. Overall an okay experience. Given the other reviews, we were really looking forward to it, but left a bit disappointed.
