    Shrimp Spring Roll

Food still solid, but all the service perks are gone...they didn't have the creme brulee, no more making pho table side. After I was told i can sit anywhere, no menu was provided until I asked and once I barely opened to first page another staff member asked if i was ready to order...literally just got the menu. I had to flag them down for drinks. Service was not good in this experience.

Old Saigon Café is a very casual spot that delivers on flavor, especially when it comes to their pho. The broth is rich and satisfying. I tried the salmon pho, and while the broth was full of great flavor, the fried salmon itself was unfortunately tough and hard to chew. The spring rolls were super fresh and paired with an amazing peanut sauce. For dessert, they provide complementary crème brûlée on a spoon. The crème brûlée was delicious and the perfect amount of sweet. Service was friendly, but our server didn't seem very familiar with the menu and couldn't answer many of our questions. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're craving pho and want something low-key and casual.

Old Saigon Cafe provides extremely fresh Thai cuisines that are sure to satisfy. While the pho remains a staple for the restaurant it's certainly worth considering some of the other offerings. The lemongrass beef, curry chicken and spring rolls are all fantastic dishes to consider. The ambiance, is cozy and casual. I would like to see them do something with the fish tank as it's very bare inside. Overall, if you're looking for a good casual pho spot Old Saigon will not disappoint.

Pho is delicious light meal any time but especially since it's colder outside. I get the vegan pho and I always enjoy the fresh veggies they put in it. Having Pho is like a warm hug in a bowl, cozy. The service is always nice and knowledgeable about menu items for my dirty needs which I appreciate. This is perfect for these upcoming winter days.

Old Saigon nails it--this is phở the way Southern Vietnam meant it. If you're used to light, bare-bones broth and minimal toppings, brace yourself. This is Saigon-style phở: bold, fragrant, a little sweet, and packed with flavor. The broth has depth without being heavy, and it's served piping hot--just how it should be, so your rare beef (tái) finishes cooking at the table. They bring out the full Southern herb garden--basil, culantro, bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeños--plus hoisin and chili sauce on the side (non-negotiable if you grew up on phở in the South). You can doctor it up to your heart's content or just dive in and let the broth do the talking. I went classic with phở tái nạm (rare beef + brisket), and it was spot-on: tender meat, chewy but soft rice noodles, generous portions. If you like extras, they've got tendon, tripe, and meatballs too. Atmosphere is chill, service is quick, and the menu's got enough variety if someone in your party isn't feeling soup (but honestly, why are they here?). Bottom line: If you're craving a legit Saigon-style phở experience without the jet lag, Old Saigon delivers. It's comfort food with a story--and it's told in every bowl.

I had high hopes for them after seeing all the great photos, numerous positive reviews, and a 4.5-star rating. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to the expectations. The service was quite slow, and the food was underwhelming, just average at best. The broth was warm, not hot, the Thai tea tasted more like milk than tea, the complimentary "dessert" was basically yoplait yogurt scooped into little plastic container. Overall, I left disappointed and won't be returning.

Great lunch spot in the galleria area. Food is decent and would come back again. I am a little sick and the beef stew helped bring me back to life.

I love their spring rolls, their lemonade is hand squeezed and so fresh! I usually go for the pork banh mi but tried the chicken pho which was good!

The family came here for my older daughter's 18th birthday. She always asks for phó for her birthday and this year we were in Houston so I searched for a highly rated restaurant with a great looking menu. Service was fantastic. Our server was very attentive and kept our water filled. All the food came out quickly and everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. I got the artichoke phó, the broth was sweeter than I'm used to, but delicious. My older daughter got the chicken dry phó, which she gobbled up. It also came with a choice of spring roll or egg roll. She chose the egg roll, which she loved. My older son got the shrimp fried rice, of which there were no leftovers. My younger son got the kid's shrimp ramen and spring roll. Again, no leftovers. The youngest just got some of all of ours and was satisfied. We left completely full and satisfied. We will definitely be back next time we're in Houston.

That BEST SPRING ROLLS in HOUSTON! Staff is great. Very helpful! I always order pork spring rolls. No one in the city makes them as good as Old Saigon! 4 large spring rolls. Made fresh to order! Peanut sauce is yummy. Ginger tea is fantastic cold or hot! Bun thit nuong is amazing also one of the best I have eaten in my Vietnamese food search across Houston! Owner is great. Staff is very friendly. Great place for a yummy dinner or lunch. Stays open late as well. 10:00 pm. Enjoy!

To go order of 3 bowls of pho, and three egg rolls. All 3 bowls had a small sheet of paper in them, (see photo), noodles undercooked, steak non chewable, and broth was very thin and watery. Spring rolls were not fresh, and had an off-putting flavor. All of the above went in the sink disposal. I've eaten here several times before and never had food like this. Owners need to do some serious quality control, quick!

This place was an unexpected delight. Just a small restaurant in the shopping center I was in. So glad that I found it. The food was really really good. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered hot green tea, coconut shrimp, Vietnamese egg rolls and beef curry. They gave us these cute little bites of creme brûlée, they were cute and delish. Everything was fantastic! I will definitely be back and I highly recommend this place!

I was going to get some ramen after church today. On the way there, I saw a guy waving a sign about dogs. I parked in front of the pet store. Suddenly, my tummy said, "Feed me. Feed me." Then, I looked around and found Old Saigon Cafe right across from a busy driveway. Good, I thought. Let me get some food. Normally, Vietnamese restaurants that serve pho and noodles would say pho on the window. Not this one, I can't find anything close to it. I had to read a few reviews by my Yelp friends to verify. The prices are competitive to other pho restaurants in Chinatown. Service and food quality were a lot better than I expected. The menu looks simple and well organized. I came during late lunch hours on a Sunday afternoon. There were few tables of customers already. Waiter was very helpful. I wanted pho with tripe and tendon. He recommended the "special pho" off the menu for $15.00. Yeah. Give me that. I asked to "study" the menu for a bit. Then, I noticed Fried Artichoke for $10.00. I didn't know what to expect. Until it got to my table. Wow. It knocked my socks off all the appetizers I have ever tried. The "lightly fried" would be seared in my cookbook. Chopped cilantro and pepper flakes dressed up the bed while artichoke hearts with long stem stood up. Spectacular plating technique. The pho soup base was delicious, no additional sauce required. I also loved the tripes. They were seasoned while other pho restaurants skipped out. I usually have pho soup leftover. But this time, I chose to drink it up. It's that delicious. Yay!! After eating (tummy said thank you), I loved the view of traffic on Westheimer. Watching cars gone by definitely relaxes me. Yup. I'll be back to try other dishes.

The filling is placed in a pan and then a thin layer of batter made with tumeric and coconut milk yellow batter is poured on top. You wrap the lettuce around the bánh xèo/bánh khọt and dip it in the fish sauce. I got the bánh khọt and the bò né. Bánh khọt is like a mini, thicker version of bánh xèo and came with nine pieces. Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. I know inflation is certainly killing many businesses and consumers but even these felt a bit off. Overall - 4.5* This is definitely going to be one of my go tos for crawfish when in the area. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. It comes in a set of 2 but we got a 3 pack! I ordered the grilled branzino and let me tell you! That chimichurri sauce !! Clutch! It is demonetisation and truly grilled to perfection. My friends ordered the filet mignon and the chicken and they were equally as impressed! I ordered the espresso mousse for dessert which comes out in the shape of a coffee bean. Cuteeee and perfect! This place didn't disappoint and it is a must visit.

This is a higher end fine dining restaurant so you should expect the portion sizes and price to be pretty comparable to a lot of other finer dining restaurants. Overall the food's flavor was fantastic. I ordered the king salmon clay pot. I thought the salmon was so tasty! They added pepper and sauce to the salmon - It was tender and flavorful and paired nicely with white rice. The quail (not pictured below) also was super flavorful and was cooked so well it tasted like beef. The soup was also light and refreshing, similar to a west lake soup. It was thicker consistency and had cilantro and chucks of lobster. The drinks served were also super balanced. We ordered the mojito and the dragon fruit cocktail. The mojito was the right balance between minty and sweet with just a hint of alcohol flavor. For the dragon fruit cocktail, it was very fruity, on the sweeter side but not overpowering and was topped with egg whites to give it a little bit of frothiness. I will say, we are slightly underdressed to enter this establishment. Everything seemed so luxurious and many people were in formal business wear! Keep this in mind if you go! There is a parking deck right next to the location as well, both self parking and valet!
