Chicken banh mi

The food was amazing and exactly what my wife was craving. It came out quick and tasted awesome. The service was very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. The restaurant itself is inviting and has very nice murals in the walls.

This is my third time eating at Nam and I have really enjoyed it every time! The food is budget friendly, comes out super fast, and is very, VERY tasty. I recommended the Thai tea to drink and egg rolls as an appetizer. My favorite entree is their filet mignon bahn mi, to which I usually add pâté for an extra $1.25. Nam Eatery is also very clean, the staff is friendly, and it is never too crowded or too loud. The parking situation is not great though, it's right off 20th street which has a lot of constant traffic. Luckily, I live close enough to walk!

Loved our first visit!! The food was ready so quickly and the service was great. We got 2 Thai iced teas which were yummy. I got the chicken pho and loved it, especially the broth. My boyfriend got the banh mi and was really happy with it. There's a good amount of seating, but kind of limited parking outside. We live close by so will def be back soon!

Pretty decent Viet food! I came here for a quick weekday dinner. They have a good selection of pho, banh mi, and noodle dishes. Their spring rolls were one of my favorites in a while! $7 but they are large and have crunchy filling in the middle that make them worth it. Banh-mi was also solid. Mango smoothie was great. The lettuce wraps I wish were made easier to eat - the meat was very tasty but it very messy to eat as it was essentially a bed of meat on a bed of lettuce vs individual lettuce wraps that could pick up. All in all this was a nice place for casual dining.

Today I got the affordable lunch special from 11-2pm which includes iced tea, your choice of Banh mi and spring rolls/egg rolls. They also have a house made chili oil. Awesome artwork inside & I enjoyed seeing the service taking care of the kids coming in for lunch. Looking forward to next time (:

After a few days of traveling, I was excited to come home and eat some asian comfort food. I live in the area and have seen this spot a few times. I didn't feel like going to Chinatown so we decided to stop by. We had the dry chicken pho and the beef pho. The portions were smaller than what I expected for the price. The pho did not have much meat and the broth tasted artificial. The dry chicken pho was the better dish of the two but still not anything very impressive. There were probably only 4-5 pieces of chicken in it. The one thing I did really like was the ginger dipping sauce it came with. Overall, I probably won't be back as there are some other more authentic and affordable asian spots popping up in this area.

Pork belly buns

Meh. Stopped to pick up some food since it's less than 5 min from my house. Had not been in a while so ordered a few things to try - pork belly buns, hot honey wings and the grilled pork rice plate. Pork belly buns - regretfully a waste, 2 to an order - each bun had 1 tiny piece of dry pork belly, a small slather of sauce, cucumber slice and cilantro. I couldn't even force myself to eat the 2nd one (sorry) Hot honey wings - drenched in chilli oil, they were cooked well Grilled pork rice platter - the grilled pork was overcooked and not marinated like most places - the fish sauce was meh, I used my own, the egg was over medium so thr yolk was in that not cooked.all the way but not runny either state, the rice was good It was a lackluster dinner. Maybe it's fresher and tastier when it's dine in or maybe I just ordered the wrong things, I wasn't impressed this time and was looking forward to some tasty Viet food.

Food was good! My boyfriend was disappointed with the filet mignon bánh mì, which naturally disappointed me as well, because it didn't have enough meat in it... The tofu vermicelli I ordered was pretty good as well as the spring rolls!

Susan N.

Too expensive for what it is. Ordered a pho rare beef with meatballs--$13. Pho came out with 95% noodles and barely any meat. Asked if I can have more veggies--said I would have to pay extra like why did you only give me 5 pieces of basil Business model no longer works. Serving basic food for high dollars. I rather go to pho Ben instead. Extra star since it was edible.

If we are ever in the area, it's no question that we are going to stop here to eat. We've tried a good chunk of the menu and everything is more amazing than the last! You seriously can't go wrong! They have the best spring rolls! Seriously wanting some while I write this. Only down side is that they are closed on Sundays. The owner is also very kind and hospitable every time we come in! Overall great place!

You wrap the lettuce around the bánh xèo/bánh khọt and dip it in the fish sauce. I got the bánh khọt and the bò né. Bánh khọt is like a mini, thicker version of bánh xèo and came with nine pieces. Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. It's nice having an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in our area, close to us, so we don't have to make the trek to Bellaire every time we crave some Viet food!

I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. I know inflation is certainly killing many businesses and consumers but even these felt a bit off. Overall - 4.5* This is definitely going to be one of my go tos for crawfish when in the area. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. The restaurant is clean, the owner is very nice, and it's a nice low key space to just enjoy a good meal with friends or family.
