    Braised beef belly baguette
    Celine M.

I tried this spot for the first time and ordered for a pickup. I ordered the Braised Beef Belly Baguette and a Kids Pho. I really enjoyed the flavor of the beef belly along side the veggies, so much flavor that compliments each other. I also enjoyed the kids pho, which only consist of the pho broth, beef and noodles tho wish there was a bit of garnish. There was plenty of parking and the service was fine. It's a casual spot and I'd definitely go back to check out the other food on the menu.

I ordered extra prawns to go with my vermicelli bowl of coconut basil prawns. They arrived way before the actual bowl and are now getting cold. Very strange to send out the extra side before the actual main bowl. Then the wait staff appeared confused why the side dish was sent back to be remade after it had been sitting for an extended period of time.

love the brisket baguette. It's so tender and juicy. A bit pricey, but it's worth the price

Please don't Banh Mi for not loving our order. I should have gone with their more unique choices like Old Smoked Brisket or Braised Beef Belly but figured can't go wrong with the classic Lemongrass Pork. We didn't like the overly charred flavor to the pork. The carrots and daikons weren't as evenly distributed so eat bite was as if I was eating large carrot. However, very cool and chill vibes inside with friendly service. Will switch my order next time.

Les Ba'get is one of the main reasons I like to venture into Oak Forest during the day. It is a contemporary, non-traditional take on Vietnamese cuisine, which I find refreshing. In the past, I've tried the Filet Mignon Pho, a unique offering, and found the quality to be rather high. Notably, I enjoyed the broth. For my latest meal from Les Ba'get, I tried the Tofu Banh Mi, which is the best I've tried. In the past, I really liked the same sandwich from Les Givrals, but actually, I like the one from Les Ba'get even more. The herby sautéed onion and garlic mixed with the tofu is simple, but great. I wish more restaurants made vegetarian banh mi like this. The bread here is always high quality. On a different note, I think it's really cool that two non-traditional Vietnamese restaurants are located across the street from each other on Ella Boulevard: Saigon Hustle, the drive thru, and Les Ba'get, the café. The hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurants on the West side (Chinatown to Alief) are awesome, but I also like venturing beyond the usual. I've always found the service at Les Ba'get to be good, and because I've really enjoyed the food from here, I would rate it a 5/5.

Located in the GOOF district of the greater Heights area, this is a modernized and slightly more millennial focused Vietnamese spot catered to the neighborhood and its demographic. The interior is modern and ordering is done at the front with table service being minimal / none. We got a few of their shareables; spring rolls, bone marrow, and chicharron. They are all fairly tasty and different from each other, which we enjoyed. Their banh mi were a bit fusion esque rather than traditional and at a pricey $13, drew some initial judgement. They're large, have lots of meat, and are tasty even though they're not 100% the traditional profile that is expected. We enjoyed everything we tried here and it's a good alternative to the other basic pho spots which all serve fairly similar items and flavor profiles.

Went on a Friday for lunch and was immediately impressed by the interior. The modern décor, featuring collages and framed photos from Vietnam, adds a charming touch that beautifully captures the essence of Vietnamese culture. I got the prawn banh mi to try because it's something not typically offered at other banh mi places. I liked how they cut the jalapenos, cucumbers, carrots, and daikon radish in a uniform manner so that the vegetables are layered nicely into the sandwich. The prawns were well cooked and the coconut sauce gave it a creamy decadence that thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, I liked this rendition of the banh mi. Be prepared for higher price points, but that should be expected given the area. The parking lot is a shared with the other businesses in the plaza. I look forward to trying the pho which I have heard good things about.

Vietnamese in Houston is so ubiquitous that inevitably many of them will ultimately mirror each other in food, ambiance, service, or all of the above. Very few of them (#1) will look like LES BA'GET, which has one of the most gorgeous interiors I've seen, along with a quality food and drink program to boot. It might resemble an westernized Asian spot in the burbs on the outside, but dig in a bit deeper and it's much more than a regular casual spot. From the lighting fixtures to the wall murals, furniture pieces to the high beams along the ceiling, this place has both a touch of contemporary vibes with a tinge of sophisticated decor. Big ups to their interior designer for creating such a gorgeous space. The presentation on the food is also on par with the decor: vibrant, colorful, and excellent plating. I appreciate the rich aroma of their pho broth and also love that they're one of the few establishments to offer a choice of baguettes and croissants for their banh mi sandwiches. Their goi cuon is very social media friendly and the fried banh bao is a nice spin on the classic Viet snack. As pretty and as tasty as the food is, the portions are a bit small, especially for the prices. Oak Gardens is not Bellaire Chinatown, so I understand their core demographic also comes with the territory with pricing. I'm also impressed with the selection of drinks, even though the menu is limited (as is their hours) but the pho'chelada is about as Houston of a drink as it gets. The yuzu collins is also creative and their pomegranate margarita is simple, but a stellar drink all around. Non-alcoholic options such as the classic caphe sua da or the all-time gringo fave, Thai tea, are both semi-addicting all around. The service gets a thumbs up and the parking is never a problem. They definitely accept credit cards and the space is ideal for small groups, lunch dates, and even a solo meal. While I wish for longer hours (#2), I am always going to look forward to my meals and subsequent visits to LES BA'GET. ___________ (#1) Or none at all. (#2) Since they close at 8pm most days.

One of my favorite places to get pho inside the loop. You order at the counter, get a number, pick a table and sit down. There's a ton of parking. the pho broth is flavorful and delicious but not too heavy, and the meats are perfectly tender. They let you add quail eggs too, which I don't see at a lot of inner loop restaurants. The chopped cheese banh mi is a perfect houston fusion food. If you like banh mi and you like a chopped cheese, you'll like this sandwich. the bone marrow is a large portion size and delicious. the only thing that makes me sad about this place is you cannot add chili oil to your food, you have to buy it for $10.

Best bone marrow treatment we've experienced! Lemongrass, garlic, ginger and a hint of sweetness, coupled with pickled carrots and radish, on top of the perfectly crispy baguette. Chef's kiss! I ordered the filet mignon pho and the broth was the clear winner! Savory, clean broth, no additional sauces needed. Great quick dinner choice for a cold day in Houston.

LES'BAGET was a place we had really wanted to go as their menu had interesting unique spin on traditional Vietnamese foods. Since we had a doggo along with us, they have outside seating which accomadated us having a doggo along. They will deliver your drinks and food to your table, even if you are sitting outside, which was nice. ROYAL EGGROLLS includes crab, shrimp, pork, and garlic fish sauce This was one of the things i was most excited to try. Honestly i couldn't really tell that it had crab/shrimp in it. It tasted like a normal Vietnamese styled egg roll. It was good nonetheless. Came with 4 pieces along with veggies TEXAS SMOKED SPRING ROLLS includes red leaf lettuce, vermicelli, basil, cucumber, bean sprout, pickled daikon and carrots, and as picked, oak smoked brisket and garlic fish sauce. This was the "most surprising" but not what you expect. Typical spring roll with unique brisket as a meat instead of boiled pork and/or shrimp. Was ok. The surprisingly thing was, there was only 2 pieces, but 2 pieces as in 1 spring roll but in half. BRAISED BEEF BELLY BAGUETTE includes duck pate, aioli, cucumber, pickled daikon and carrots, scallion, cilantro, and red jalapeno This was the only banh mi sandwich we had during this trip. Pretty delicious and unique banh mi actually. The beef belly was very tender. The pickled daikon and carrots are not julienned, but as large slices which was great since i LOVE having a lot of pickled daikon and carrots in my banh mi sandwiches ACCIDENTALLY ordered 2 things with the same type of beef. If i had known, i would have picked a different meat for the rice bowl below. OH WELL ! ROCK 'N' ROLL BEEF FILET RICE includes red leaf lettuce, cucumber, campari tomato, pickled daikon and carrots, scallion, cilantro, fried shallot and garlic fish sauce This was a nice sized rice bowl. Includes like everything inside a spring roll (except the vermicelli changed to rice). Beef is super tender as it was filet cut and flavorful. Good amount of food. STEAK AND EGGS include 6 oz filet mignon, shishito pepper, vietnamese pork sausage, 2 fried eggs, campari tomato, buttered pate baguette, yellow onion, scallion, and cilantro Same beef filet as the rice bowl above, except in a sizzling plate with 2 pieces of baguette with a good amount of pate on each baguette slice. 2 sunny side up eggs which was great to break and dip the bread into. Overall, pretty decent food. Spring rolls could skip. Everything else was pretty delicious. We ordered enough food to share between the 4 of us. Some stuff good for sharing, some not so much.

Had a great last-minute meal from Le Baget before flying back to NY. We were in a bit of a rush, but still wanted to grab something delicious to go. I opted for Viet because Houston does it better than NY. While waiting for our takeout, we got some cocktails. I ordered the most unique sounding drink on the menu--the Pho'Lody Mary. Yes, it's a bloody mary with pho broth in it. It was... interesting? I always go for the strangest sounding drink on the menu, and this definitely fit the bill. Not a flavor profile I'd seek out, but no regrets trying it. We also got a classic frozen marg. At $9 each, the prices were it!! The coconut basil prawns banh mi, which I ate at the airport, was so good. It made the pre-flight wait way more enjoyable. I also want to call out how beautiful Les Ba'get's space is. Even just popping in for takeout, I was impressed. This place was such a great find. Unique drinks, delicious food, fair prices, and a cool vibe. If you're in Houston and need a quick, quality meal (or an unusual cocktail), Le Baget has you covered. Loved ending our Houston food adventure on a high note.

This was my first time eating their banh mi in years. I live by Chinatown so I have the best picks there, but my friend I was visiting ordered this for our group dinner and it did not disappoint. Given the area, you can expect a higher price, but the banh mi was tasty overall. The meat quantity was generous and it was pepperier than other pork banh mis I've tried. I would've liked a little more mayo/pate to make the bread softer/creamier.

I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. Personally I wasn't a fan of the paste-y texture of the banh nam but that is a personal preference! Service is not the most hospitable but very quick. We were reseated after spotting a cockroach under our table. But even so I would come back to have this amazing food any day.

Came in to eat on a Saturday night around 8PM. They take walk ins, but we made reservations and I…read moream so glad we did. Upon arriving, every table was taken except our table w a reserved sign on it. The restaurant was bustling, but I could still hear my husband over the music and noise. The menu is huge!!! I didn't know where to start. But our server, Vanessa, helped us make a few choices. We started off w bánh xèo tostadas, bánh béo, & carpaccio. Then we had calamari and their steak special. I asked for a side of papaya slaw for some veggies. My favorite dish of the night was the carpaccio. So many flavors perfectly melded together. Loved the crunch of the fried onions and peanuts. 10/10 dish, in my opinion. Authentic banh xèo usually has an airier, crisp crepe, but theirs was more crunchy - great for their tostada take. Very flavorful. Each piece had one shrimp, but plenty of pork belly bites. The nuoc mam drizzled on it was tasty. Fried calamari - this is a big dish for, I believe, $'19. I prefer the dipping sauce on the side so that the batter doesn't get soggy. This did happen here, but it didn't stop us from finishing every last bite. The green sauce was good, not the usual dipping sauce for fried calamari. Steak special - they have another steak dish on their menu, but this one was pepper crusted w smashed potatoes. The potatoes were super crispy and flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked - a beautiful pink medium rare. The portion was huge and justified the $39 price point. The staple steak dish came with a papaya slaw and I had to have it. It was bright and limey - I can see why they serve it with their steak. Bánh beo - my least favorite of the night. A bit thicker than I like. Still good, but there were a lot of other great dishes that I could easily pass on this one. Try their hibiscus artichoke tea.

Late review of this little gem in the heights. Went here to try the food and drinks with my ex gf…read moreand we had so much fun. The wings are exceptional. Try them, I love a good Asian style wing sauce and this hits the nail on the head with what I am looking for when I think of Asian style. No notes. Would order just these 9.3/10. Beef carpaccio is not something I would order again. I don't really care for carpaccio to be fair. 6/10. Shaken beef had great flavor, but it was less beef cubs and more big beef chunks. Flavor was excellent, but the beef should be in smaller bites. 7.7/10. The stuffed crab pocket was unlike anything I have ever tried. Great seafood taste in the inside, crispy shell. 8.7/10. The calamari squid dish was nice. Flavor was good. Fresh ingredients. 7.2/10. Drinks and services were really the standout here. Super friendly staff and fun Thai drinks. Cute location and seating. 9.6/10.
