First time at Pho Q Long, and honestly... what a way to be introduced. I came during the winter storm because when it's 27 degrees in Houston, hot pho is basically a necessity. I was lucky they were open, and even luckier I stopped in. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which immediately set the tone. The pho? Absolutely delicious. Rich, flavorful, and the kind of broth that warms you from the inside out. Pure comfort in a bowl. I also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee, and wow...it was perfectly blended and dangerously good. My only complaint is that it wasn't bigger because I finished it in about three gulps. I've been to Pho Q Long a few times with coworkers, and overall it's a solid spot if you're in the mood for pho or Vietnamese comfort food. It's a nice size restaurant in the Kroger shopping center. I had a mix of dishes on my visits - Viet egg rolls, egg noodle soup with beef stew, and pho with eye round and fatty brisket plus all the usual add-ins like bean sprouts, basil, and lime. Everything I've had was pretty good. It's been a minute since my last visit, so I don't remember anything standout about the service, which probably means it was pretty standard. The worst experience ‍ the first time I been there, they mistake the noodle (I order two different type of noodle, Pho and bun bo hue, they use completely wrong noodle for each) I told them, they switched it back, food is decent so I let it go. The second time I called in for to go order, came home prepared to eat to find out they mistake the noodle AGAIN!!! For starters the staff here is so kind! Everytime I go I feel the mutual energy of excitement to see returning customers! I wish I knew everyone by their names personally! You ever walk into a place and immediately feel like it's never had a proper deep clean? That's the vibe here--sticky, dingy, almost like a preschool classroom that's seen better days. The pricing is way out of line. For two people, it came to $60. And this wasn't a three-course dinner at Benji's--it was pho and spring rolls, with no alcohol. To make matters worse, they overcharged for the spring rolls. When I pointed out the price difference on the menu, I was told, "Oh, that's for the pork and shrimp." So apparently, two meats cost less than one? The staff's response was basically "that's just how it is," which didn't sit well with me. On top of that, no free refills. Every Sprite is charged separately, and at $4 a can, that adds up quickly. In 2025, charging per soda can with no refills is pretty wild. As for the food itself--it just wasn't good. Bland, flavorless, and not at all worth the price tag. Bottom line: overpriced, underwhelming, and unclean. We won't be coming back. read more

I really like that this place is right down the street from me. I've been to a lot of pho spots, and this one didn't really stand out when it comes to the usual noodle soup stuff. Nothing bad to say it, it's your standard pho. But I decided to try something different and got the crab udon noodle soup--and wow, it was so good. Like, really flavorful and umami, and the broth was thick and tasty, not watery at all. There wasn't a ton of crab meat in it, but it had that crab flavor that made it hit the spot. Super glad I tried it. Sometimes it's nice to switch it up from pho, and this was totally worth it. In fact, there are a lot of non pho options I'm going to try that I'll update later. Bean sprouts really make the pho taste great! Pho Chicken 3/5: The broth was very oily! The oil was floating on top of the broth. The broth tasted good, but it was too oily for me. I ordered a large pho to go and there was barely any noodles in my bowl and the broth was barely over half full. They also didn't include any of the fixins (onions, bean sprouts, mint, lime) and when we asked for 2 of each sriracha and hoisin they only gave us one. I ordered a side of rice to go with my pho and there's barely any in there as well. I didn't think to take pictures until after I poured everything together but here's a picture of the rice for reference. The broth, noodles, and rice were all cold as well. And the fried rice was cold and honestly tasted horrible. But this was my first time stopping by in those seven days. It all started with me always searching for a particular beef bowl I used to get in Japan and Singapore. It is called the Singapore Beef Bowl. It's so hard to find, but this time, I sat in my car going through my food collections. I drove to two other places, and it was a no-go. This was my third place, and as I was describing what I was looking for, the hostess started flipping the menu pages, showed me what I was looking for, and told me exactly what noodles and beef to ask for, along with what broth, which is the spicy broth. The taste of the noodles and the beef was dead on, which was exactly what I had been hoping for. So, let's fast forward. I discovered that this dish is very popular at Pho Q Long. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. I was a regular here. Even introduce this place to all of my friends. So I invite my parents along with my family. 4 adults. 2 toddlers. We ordered 5 plates of food. The bill came and we find out we were charged a large party of 6 gratuity. I would have understood if it was 6 adults with all of us ordering 6 entrees. We ask them about it and they told us that we had 6 people. We told them we only have 4 adults and 2 toddlers and only ordered 5 plates. The waiter told us we'll they do this everywhere. The fried wonton meat was pink and undercooked, the inside of this place is dirty and the customer service is horrible! If I could rate the food and customer service zero stars, I would. First impression walking in: Ambience felt very unsanitary. There were dirty tables and dirty dishes nearby the cash register and the to-go girl went to clean it up after she saw me looking around then touched my to-go bag with her same hands she cleaned without gloves. But let's get into how we got here: I was on my lunch break & needed to find a nearby Vietnamese restaurant that had fried wontons since I was craving some after visiting a Vietnamese restaurant in Katy that had the best fried wontons EVER! So, I came in on my lunch break to pick up my mobile order of fried wontons -- Well, when I got to work to eat the wontons - the wontons were undercooked, super chewy and had a horrible after taste. So, I called them and asked if I could exchange this menu item for another one because I was totally turned off altogether as to what meat or cooking methods they use to prepare the wontons... At first the manager or owner "Dang" or "Dane" was so mean spirited -- he wouldn't shake my hand, said it's because he's preparing food (NO GLOVES WERE ON HIS HAND) & he was so against me exchanging until I informed him of how unethical that was considering their meat was the reason I even had to exchange. So, he finally agreed. I told him I'd come by after work to pick up my fried rice -- I called in my order after rice 15/20 minutes prior to my arrival and instead of having it ready for me to grab, pay & go -- they waited until I got there to prepare my order. So, I politely asked for a total refund because of after work obligations -- The same guy -- Dang refused saying since I took a bite out 1/6 of the wontons that I could not get a full refund.........of food that I did not enjoy nor eat but simply tasted. Moving to a new area means a lot of exploration, and for me, that includes tracking down the best Vietnamese spots nearby. For lunch, I decided to try this spot for the first time. Here's what I got to-go and how it went: What I Ordered: 2x Spring Rolls with Shrimp & Pork Banh Mi with Grilled Pork Rice Plate with Shaky Beef (Com Bo Luc Lac) Rice Noodles with Grilled Shrimp & Pork The Food: Spring Rolls (8/10) Solid, but not show-stopping. The rolls were fresh, but the dipping sauce needed a bit more oomph--where's the hoisin love? Banh Mi with Grilled Pork (9/10) Let me tell you, the pork stole the show! Smoky, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. My only gripe? The sandwich could've used a little more "oomph" inside--veggies, pâté, or something to give it that full-on banh mi magic. Com Bo Luc Lac (Shaky Beef) (7.5/10) Decent but didn't blow my socks off. The beef could've been more tender, and I was surprised they didn't ask how I wanted it cooked. That said, my kids devoured it, so maybe I'm just picky! Rice Noodles with Grilled Shrimp & Pork (8/10) Once again, the pork! Whatever marinade they're using deserves a medal. There are subtle differences between the Vietnamese cuisine here in Houston, TX and what I'm used to from San Jose, CA, but that just makes the experience more interesting.
