I was completely disgusted by the food and the pricing. Tex-Mex is usually reliable in Texas. It almost always tastes decent no matter where you go. But this place? It was a disaster. You have to work hard to make food this bad. I honestly pictured the owner laughing at the people stupid enough to sit there eating $25 plates of trash. This was the worst restaurant food I have ever had in My entire life. Canned dog food would have tasted better. The queso was clearly canned nacho cheese. It was thick, gritty, clumpy, and bright orange like the stuff you get at a gas station. My kids could not even eat their meals. It was that disgusting. The refried beans were drowning in salt. The enchiladas were a soggy pile of mush with tomato sauce on top. Absolutely inedible. The fajita meat tasted like liver. I almost gag just thinking about it. The guacamole was DARK BROWN. No lie, not one thing on the table was edible. We spent $100, left hungry and angry, and I made the kids ramen when we got home. This place should not be in business. It felt like a setup. It's a hidden gem, located in a shopping plaza across HEB (Louetta Glen & Holzwarth). Clean & cozy, the atmosphere is homey and comfortable. Food tastes fresh (not greasy), is flavorful & cooked well, and portions are generous. Our first time here, we shared the Parrillada Paiso for 2. It was an extravagant mountain of grilled meat (served with rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and tortillas) that could have easily fed a small family! The short ribs and carne asada fajitas were marinated well & tender... A definite bang for your buck. My only critique is that I wasn't a fan of the salsas. The red salsa was too chunky for my liking. The big pieces of vegetables were a little too much for each bite and weighed too heavy on the chips.... My colleague had said good things about Eva's, so I had been meaning to pay them a visit. I finally visited for lunch on a weekend lunch and saw they have happy hour 6 days a week. It was very slow and no employees were up front except for a lady going around filling waters. I guess I came during their slow period of the day. I was finally seated after about 5 minutes. Even after the initial wait, I was still able to get in and out pretty quickly for a sit-down type restaurant....so that was great. Chips and salsa are a good measure on how the food will taste. If I don't like them, I probably won't like the food. I didn't really like either of their salsas. The red one was warm and a little spicy, while the green one was more refreshing. I ordered the tacos al carbon since I wasn't hungry enough for the fajitas, which are about $3 more. With the tacos, they give you 2 tortillas like most places and fill them up with quite a bit of meat. The fajita meat was nicely marinated/seasoned. Worth the extra price you pay to come here versus taco cabana for instance. May come back and try their happy hour. They have 2 locations which was a surprise to me. read more

On a search for better salsa we attempted Eva's... When we walked in we were kinda told to just sit anywhere. I say kinda bc it was more a quick "you can go" over the shoulders of the girl at the front. We sat with no menus for a few minutes. We got menus after chips and salsa deliver and drink order. I got a Chicken Fajita Taco Salad and hubs a Chalupa plate. NOTHING HAD FLAVOR! The red sauce was pretty much tomato paste and cumin, green was a slimy smashed tomatillo salsa. This place could benefit greatly from some lemon/lime, garlic, cilantro, salt! Really anything. The waiter was okay. The atmosphere was old and outdated. Very dirty. Blinds were down next to us and had grease splashed and finger prints all over them. The windowsill had little dead bugs all down it with pealing paint. I guess our search continues. read more

First off, after trying the chips and salsa it made me think the food would be somewhat decent but boy was I wrong. I asked for water, the water was horrible. After that, everything just got worse and worse. So, long story short I give the food a one star. The meat had a texture of old meat. It was under cooked, salty and chewy. Great Mexican food without the ridículos prices. Spring is overrun by Mexican restaurants, tons of options in the area with either mediocre food or steep prices. Eva's however has found a way to serve good food at great prices. Fajitas for two $19.99 add quail and shrimp $24.99, you can't beat that. Service is great and pretty quick. They do lack decor compared to other places but there's no reason to pay $20 more for a couple paintings of Zapata hung on the wall. read more

Eva's came to me with 2 recommendations from people I know and trust: co-worker and neighbor. Both praised the dips and fajitas. Long story short: Went in on Friday night, not overly crowded. Service was slow with the water refills, and so-so otherwise. We ordered the Veggie Fajitas with Shrimp and Chimichanga with Chicken. Chips were good, and the dips were sort of gelatinous and flavorless. Maybe made with Aloe or cactus? Green: weird consistency with little flavor, mostly cilantro. Red: Warm and mostly tomato. Not much flavor in it either. Food came out quick. Maybe too quick considering the shrimp and veggies were not seasoned. Shrimp was small and obviously the cheap frozen kind just like the veggies. Half of the veggies were onions, which is an excessive amount. Guac had garlic powder, but the avocado flavor was not really there. The pico and lettuce tasted like fridge. This came with about 10+ pieces of shrimp and we ended up bringing most of it home. My chicken Chimichanga was perfect! The cheese gravy was rich, the burrito was still a little crunchy, and my chicken was tender! Usually I get over full when I finish the whole thing but this one was perfect (or i can eat more now). i don't like rice, but their rice had a great texture and flavor with little pieces of veggies in it. SOOOO good! There beans were pureed liquid, but had an awesome pork flavor. We took the remaining shrimp and veggies home for our dog, who enjoys seafood, and he wouldn't touch the shrimp. He ate all the veggies, but knew something was off about the shrimp. I won't be coming here again or suggesting it to anyone I know. read more

I'm convinced people have no idea what good food tastes like. I ordered a Enchilada Suiza dinner.. The enchiladas had no red sauce..not even a teaspoon of sourcream like its supposed to..also no tomato's..only a few pieces of lettuces .. The meat was very over cooked and soo greasy that you could literally taste the grease they cook their food in. After an evening of home tours with the real estate agent, we needed a bite to eat. We had drive past Eva's before and the name reminded me of a good friend's Mom, so it stuck in my brain. We decided some good Mexican food would be perfect to help sort through pros and cons of the houses we saw. The service here was efficient and friendly, and the food was very reasonably priced. I ended up getting a combination place and it was delicious! As with most meals, I over ordered and ended up taking half of the food home but the leftovers were just as good. Their chips and salsa were very good and the borracho beans were super tasty. Mexican food is easy to find in Houston, but good Mexican food that is affordable and close to our new home is awesome! read more

Since this location opened, the hubs and I have frequented whenever we're in the Spring area. Their prices are reasonable, and the service is always good. If you aren't sure what to try, their California burrito is one of my favorites - chock full of veggies and easily as big as the plate (around 12" x 4" x 2"). I always end up taking at least half home. The other winner is the fajitas poblanas, which features bacon and poblano peppers...it's definitely a crowd favorite with our friends. Then there's the margaritas. Hubs and I are both rather heavy weights to drinking, so I can't say exactly how much alcohol is involved, but some of our lighter weight friends did get a nice buzz. The sangria margarita is my hands down favorite. It doesn't feature a lot of fruit like other restaurants, but it does taste great! Altogether a good, clean, reasonably priced bet. read more
