The decor is what you would expect from a Tex mex restaurant around here. The service was great, never an empty drink. I don't see fried avocados much, but definitely do indulge when I see one on the menu. It came with a tiny cup of queso, and was really delicious. Plenty of leftovers. Most everyone else got some form of nachos. The chips seemed overcooked. I'll go back if the in laws want to, but probably wouldn't pick this place on my own. read more

I went here after my wife and i's divorce hearing and all I got were birria tacos and an upset stomach. I loved it though. I loved the service, everyone there was so kind in to helping me through my tough times. Atmosphere was 100/100. It was definitely an amazing but bittersweet experience. read more

Mexican Sunday Brunch! All types of goodies from an omelette & pancake and waffle station to menudo, posole, flautas, aguas frescas, churros, flan, enchiladas, and so much more. Service was friendly but getting a table had its mishaps. There are so many other Mexican restaurants nearby serving Brunch so I'll have to make the rounds for a good comparison. I miss Tia Carmen's brunch in Phoenix (inside the JW Marriott).I know there's no comparison but I'm just missing home. read more

We have eaten at El Bosque a few times. The food is delicious, prices are reasonable, service is quick and best of all, there is always specials on margaritas. We enjoy the warm salsa served with chips. Tortillas are fresh. It can get a little loud on a Friday night though. Parking is sufficient. read more

Like a few other reviewers, we dismissed this place in the past.... We drive by it frequently while running errands around Shenandoah, but we previously didn't pay much mind to it. The restaurant is tucked into the middle of a very busy shopping plaza, and the exterior is plain & modest. It's easy to miss and sort of "just blends in" with the surrounding space. Well, it's a great example of not judging a book by its cover! We walked over here while getting our tires replaced at Discount Tire (shout out to them for the lunch recommendation). We discovered that El Bosque has yummy food, fantastic service, a really good menu selection, and wallet-friendly prices. The waitstaff have the attentiveness & professionalism you'd find at some of the best dining establishments out there... Food was fresh, not greasy or over salted, and the portions were massive. We enjoyed our meal very much (even our picky toddler who ordered from the kid's menu)! We had a great lunch experience. Now this place is at the top of our list for a family-friendly spot to grab a bite to eat. We plan on coming back to try their Sunday brunch buffet, soon. read more

Maybe I'm too used to California Mexican but we did not enjoy our meal here. First, we were looking for anything vegetarian and there was not much to choose from there. The menu doesn't mention if the beans or rice are either. There were several off putting things about the food. Hot salsa, peas in the rice, and an Asian vegetable blend used for my fajitas. My 11 year old claimed he was full because he didn't like his enchiladas, my toddlers didn't even like the salsa enough to eat it, and my fajitas were flavorless like they used a frozen bag of veggies and didn't season it. I won't be back again and I feel like it was a huge waste of $80 for us to walk away hungry. The only reason I would give one star is the service. Our waiter was kind and patient. read more

Pretty affordable Tex-Mex restaurant in woodlands area. I ordered the fajita for 2 beef and their portion was huge. It could honestly fill up 3 people. Beef was thick, a tad bit chewy. Had good amount of flavor to it. Tortillas was great tasting. Chips are basic, nothing special. I did like their green sauce, more on the sweeter side.!service was very quick and attentive. Homemade tortillas are delicious. Rice was horrible. Queso chorizo flamiado was good.

Staff are so attentive and the food was amazing. Fresh squeezed lime juice in their margaritas! The queso was also awesome. Thank you!

My wife and I have been coming here for about 15 years. We always have great food here. I enjoy the chips and dip, tacos, cheese puff and the enchiladas. Fajitas are great as well. They have now been open 20 years so they are doing something right. Look forward to many more years coming here. read more

Came in during a rain storm, we decided on the Fajitas for two. They were very tasty and we even had enough left over to take home. The only thing is I wish they would have given us more tortillas but other than that the food was good. The frozen margaritas were also good, and the wait staff seems to work together helping each other at all tables so the service is great ! read more

This indeed was my first visit and ultimately my last. Get here and we sit at the bar to watch some football. Ordered the birria tacos based off the other bar patrons. Also went with the margarita flight. It's pretty ......but horribly sweet. We sent it back. The manager swiftly removes the drinks. The tacos arrive and the plate looks nice. One bite in and the taste just isn't there. The consumme had no flavor and was essentially a broth. I mean no onions, cilantro....NOTHING but juice. I had to grab the salt and use the salsa to add some flavor. To be honest I haven't ever had bad Mexican food. This was a disgrace to the race. 10 mins go by before the sever resurfaced. He brings the check and low and behold the drink is on there. At this point we are under the impression the drink would be removed. The manage comes back over and become a combative and irate. He is literally shaking the chair as he is speaking and being absolutely rude. My friend tries to explain and he just keeps on talking sideways. I decided to take out my phone and record this ignorant behavior.....his entire tune changed. Now he will remove the drink from the check. He still had more insulting remarks before we departed. No one should be treated in this manner. No restaurant should have a manger that treats their patrons with total disrespect. Take heed and steer clear.....unless you want horrible food and service. read more

My wife and I have been patrons of El Bosque since their original location on Shenandoah Drive (next to the Valero gas station), recommended to us by a friend of a friend who was a local chef. I always have trusted the restaurant recommendations from chefs when referring to restaurants other than the ones that they work at. Their food is great, their service is outstanding, and their prices are more than reasonable! Some of our favorites are the queso flameado with chicken, cheese enchiladas, and combo 5. And we love their refried beans and spanish rice!! 10/10 read more

Don't judge a book by it's cover. We've all heard it a million times but still.... I've seen El Bosque hundreds of time as I've shopped at Sam's or blown through TJMaxx and never once considered eating there. I mean it's in a strip mall with shops like, heck I don't know. Nothing I would visit. But tonight, I ordered takeout and decided to give a shot. Cause I know better. I'm so glad I did. Fajitas, chips and queso, rice and beans, salsa and crispy tacos. All outstanding. The queso was smooth and delicious though it needed to be secured a little better for takeout. The chips? Fresh, abundant and gone. The Fiesta fajitas were plentiful and in a bed of grilled onions. The meat was tender and try as I might I could only eat three and I still had half my order left. The condiments that were included for my fajitas are usually additional elsewhere. Mama was right, don't judge that book! read more

This place is a hidden gem! Service, food and ambiance are all 5 stars. When we walked in the door, we were instantly greeted and sat promptly. All in all it's a pretty standard Mexican restaurant. There was really nothing to complain or brag about. The food was on par but not great. The service was by far the best part. Very attentive. The restaurant was not very busy and honestly pretty quiet for a Friday night at 7 so maybe there's a reason. I don't even remember hearing music but I'm sure it had to be there. For us it made it better because the parking was close and seating was quick. It was kind of expensive in my opinion. I don't think I'll go back but if you want to give it a try it's not bad. Not Mexican, but not even good Tex-Mex. I've been here maybe three times in over 20 years and the food has never been good. Seriously, frozen H-E-B Mexican dinners are better. Don't waste your time and money here and go to someplace good like los Cucos or Chuy's or Lupe's Tortills -or maybe even Taco Bell. There are so many Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants around, and I don't understand how this place stays in business. If you eat to live, then this may be your place, but if you'd love to eat, and appreciate the flavor and texture of food, then, by all means, avoid this place. read more

First time visiting this place and I was pleasantly surprised. It was busy but I would expect that on a Friday night. The salsa was warm temperature wise and had was spicy enough for flavor but not overwhelming. I asked for a recommendation from my server. He gave me a few choices and I decided on the Fajitas Poblana. The beef fajitas came out covered in cheese. Tender strips of steak mixed in with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and bacon. I've never had bacon with my fajitas and it was a really good addition. I ate half my meal and took the other half home. I thanked the server for his recommendation. read more

Took my dad to lunch and this Shenandoah location rocks!!! The waiter was very attentive and patient with how long it took us to get my dad situated. There was a busboy who filled my water regularly I never had to hunt him down at all! Then the food was just perfection. We had a quest and bean appetizer ( my sister said this is given to guests at lunch only) seriously could have ordered queso and been done. Queso is white and smooth cheesy- yum! My dad and I had enchiladas, my sister ordered a taco plate and my husband too. All the food delicious and service was such that we asked for nothing cause they would ask us about refills, check and to go boxes right on time. Way to go guys thanks so much! read more

I order from here 1-2 a month and over all their food is good. But their Managers customer service/satisfaction is one of the worst. They can care less about how you feel and will not go out their way to make you a happy customer.! I usually order otp or on door dash. This time around I ordered on door dash which I'm aware when you have an issue you can just address it with door dash. Which when u do they will only refund u a partial amount. But this time around I chose to call the restaurant to ask them why was 1 of my entre bagged and knotted but the 2nd entree was not. The guy who answered said they were rushing a bit and were about to close and they had to run out to the car to catch the driver because they forgot to give them the 2nd entre. I told them well due to that my dish was left at my doorsteps un bagged and felt very uncomfortable eating it because the plate looked as if it had already been opened that even though I did plan on filing a complaint with door dash that I felt this was also due to them forgetting to bag my item. They guy kept arguing back in fourth wanting me to understand they had to run to catch the driver therefore unable to bag it. I told him I understood that but this was still their fault and if I could pls bring it back that I would even drive to there to get that one entre and he refused. I then asked to speak to a mgr to then hearing him cover the phone and then later another guy name Alfonzo if that was his name said he was the general mgr and when I asked for his name he sarcastically said no for me tell him my name first. I said sir I am the customer who u just placed the order. You have my info in your records and I don't have yours! He then paused and gave me his "name". He then said he could not do anything and said it was not his responsibility to bag anything. He was so defensive and said and if I called door dash that they will say that they did bag the entre and blame the door dash that it would be his word and against the door dash driver. I then added well in that case the drivers and my word because your employee just admitted to it being his fault for rushing to catch the driver. He then said we will say it was in the bag and the driver took it out. I was so shocked by what he said that I hung up the call and contacted door dash. But I really needed to voice this because this is NOT how you handle customers but since he's not the owner he can care less about the customers he looses. It was rainy outside and we craved tortilla soup. So we decided to stop here to try it out. The salsa is served warm, which the majority of the restaurants won't do, but it works. It was spicy but not super hot, it was a comfortable spice level. My daughter lover her tortilla soup and the place was pretty big. I went with a stuffed avocado with beef fajitas and it was on point. The rice had good flavor and the extra cheese on top made it more exquisite. Even the charro beans are great.
