Walked in about 3pm, we were the only customers. Nice dining room with a bar off to the side. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The lady helping with chips kept our drinks filled and chip basket full. They have a red, warm temperature salsa that has a slight spice. Also a green refrigerated salsa that was mild, the green has a little better flavor. We asked for a more spicy salsa, which was refrigerated temperature, and about as spicy as can be, we added a bit to the other salsas and it turned the heat up perfectly. We ordered the white queso which had great flavor and came with a side of jalapeños, there was yellow queso with my meal so we were able to try both and definitely recommend the white queso. The chicken poblanos was amazing, came out sizzling and cooked to perfection with great presentation. The chimichanga was very good flavored. Everything was hot. We will definitely be back and be telling our family to come try this place out. read more

We took a chance on Don Agave in search of looking for a new mexican restaurant to try. We had an early dinner (5 o'clock) so we were pretty much the only diners at the restaurant. Five of us ordered beef and chicken fajitas, beef and cheese enchiladas and got the queso with chips. Everything came out hot and fresh. It was all pleasing to the eye and tasted on point! The staff were efficient and friendly. Looking around the restaurant, I noticed it was clean and decorated nicely. Overall we had a very good meal and look forward to returning soon to try more of the menu. There are a ton of Tex-mex restaurants around to try. Don Agave is one of the good ones!! The food was amazing!! I'm pregnant and I have the hugest craving for Mexican food right now and it's honestly the only thing that sounds remotely appetizing , and this place seriously hit the spot. I got the lunch special of the tampiquena, and it was a good amount of food! Enough to share with my toddler! The charro beans were so flavorful, and the cheese enchilada was one of the best I've had. The queso was a smaller portion, smaller than I expected BUT it was amazing. This is our go-to for Mexican food for lunch, and we went for dinner tonight. I had the sampler platter, and my husband had the enchiladas. Everything was just perfect. The beef fajita nachos were so good. We got the Tres Leches to-go, and I will say it was the best I've ever had. Now, every time I go for lunch, I'll be getting a Tres Leches to go. Based on our experience and in my opinion. Was looking for a proximate spot for dinner with family (3 persons) last night and upon reading the positive reviews, ended up at Don Agave's. Place was sparsely populated. We were welcomed promptly and seated. Restaurant looked clean and had the usual Tex-Mex ambience. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Chips and salsas (three varieties, two reds and a guacamole-based) arrived promptly and were tasty. One of the red salsas had a welcome kick to it (perhaps a touch of habanero). Ordered two mojitos (mango and pomegranate), which arrived quickly. The mango one tasted just fine while the pomegranate one tasted like medicine/syrup. Overall, not bad. Food, consisting of a veggie enchilada appetizer, and two entrees - Chef's Special (chicken, beef and shrimp fajitas for one) and grilled fish platter, too was served promptly and was hot/freshly made. Taste and quantity were just fine, typical Tex-Mex with the side trimmings of guacamole, refried beans, pico, rice, and some sour cream. Not a bad experience by any means, but nothing extraordinary. What was extraordinary was the final check! Set us back close to $100, including a sneaky surcharge of over 3% of the food price, supposedly to cover credit card charges!! This, for an appetizer and two entrees and two alcoholic drinks!! There was no warning of this surcharge and if I hadn't looked at the check carefully, would have missed it entirely. Wonder how many patrons are taken in this way...unsuspecting. Wonder too how that squares with the merchant- credit card company agreement. Upon highlighting the sneaky surcharge to the waiter, he nonchalantly mentioned that all the local restaurants followed this practice and mentioned two other names, another Tex-Mex and a Mex seafood place! Overall, good service, decent food, clean place, but watch the check and your wallet! read more

Came here last week with my parents and husband for dinner. We had heard great things about this restaurant, and we can never pass up Mexican food, so we had to try it. My husband and I started off with margaritas, mine frozen swirled with sangria, and his just a regular on the rocks. I wasn't super impressed with mine- it was a tad too sour. I asked my husband how his was, and he said the same thing. The chips and salsa were ok, they served both red and green salsa. The green was for sure not my favorite, but the red was better. I saw they had mole enchiladas on their menu, and I was super excited to give them a try. Mole is my absolute favorite and it's hard to find. When they came to the table I was blown away because they were huge! You definitely get a lot of food for your money here. They were delicious and I would come back and eat here just for them. My mom ordered flautas and they were also massive. We all had leftovers to take home. I would for sure come back in the future and try more things! read more

I really like this place. Chips and salsa are good, hot, interesting and fresh. I have eaten here now four times and prefer the yellow cheese queso better. The fajitas are really awesome. I also really like their sour cream enchiladas. It's not quite enchilada suisas, but rather something unique to Don Agaves? It's hard to stand out with fajitas in Texas, but Don Agaves does. They are definitely one of the better Mexican places in Spring. I have to give a hats off to the server staff here. They are super attentive, and really consistently good at customer service like no place I have visited in several years. It makes a huge difference to me and I appreciate it. this goes to show you that the pandemic didn't kill off all of the great customer service. This is a really great ambassador place for Spring, Texas and comida Mexicana! Access off of 2920 and parking is pretty easy. I have never had to wait for a table here. I would give Don Agave an even higher rating if they didn't have a 4% charge for using a credit card. On the other hand, you know other places that don't charge are still building it into the price for everybody so at least you could say this restaurant is a bit more honest about it all and gives you an option. I still doubt they gain much by doing this, however, as credit cards are so built into our culture. we make an extra stop at the ATM to pay in cash. read more

We visited this restaurant this evening for the first time. EXCELLENT everything... Service, food, drinks, atmosphere. The speed of the service was amazing, the fajita meat was crazy tender. The salsas and white/dirty queso were also awesome! The hostess would be the only part that wasn't 100%. It seems to be "the new normal" though, unfortunately. I have no clue as to how people have rated this place with 5 stars! We came because we wanted something with tacos, that was close by, and that was rated decently. The 4.9 rating is way too generous. We tried the salsas to see if it would give us an incline as to how the rest of the food was going to taste. Salsas were too bland. The queso we ordered was watered down and not seasoned. Our entrées lacked flavor, and what was really off put was that the beans were canned beans, not homemade. The service was just ok. I guess this place is for some people, just not for us. read more

We tried this new place out for a family dinner the other night. There are so many Tex-Mex places around that it's hard to stand out, but I think Don Agave is going to go high up on our list for this kind of food. The chips and salsa give you a promising start. The chips were fresh and appeared to be homemade. The salsas were served warm--we got a traditional red and a creamy green one. Both had great, rich flavor. Very little warmth, so if you're looking for spice it's not there, but they didn't cheat and add a lot of chiles or hot sauce to develop flavor. We had the ribeye tacos, fajita street tacos, the pollo campeche, carnitas, and cheese enchiladas for mains, and sopapillas for dessert. The taco meat in both kinds of tacos was delicious, very tender and well-seasoned--might have been the same cut in each. The carnitas were served fajita-style on a heated platter. They were very good, not a lot of seasoning but very good texture with a nice combination of softer, fattier pieces and some with bark. Most of the dishes came with rice and beans on the side, and I would say they were a little above average--good seasoning in both the beans and the rice. The pollo campeche had good flavor but I would say it came out a little on the dry side--we didn't take any home. Hard to get chicken breast just right. I'd say the same for the cheese enchiladas, with less excuse--they also tasted a bit dry. Decent and edible but not amazing. They have a sopapilla cheesecake on the menu and we almost went with that, but stuck with traditional sopapillas. They were well-executed and delivered warm. Don Agave has an extensive drink menu and margarita flights, though we weren't drinking that evening. The service was great, very prompt and friendly. They have some TVs around the room with sports on, but the decor feels more rich and upscale. The dining room has a traditional adobe-colored interior with appropriate decorations. It's an enjoyable place to spend an evening. We can definitely recommend it. read more

Me work bestie & I go to Don Agave so much, that my phone suggests the route at lunch time! We love it for the lighting & ambiance. It's super chill & the spot to unwind in. The servers are all absolutely friendly, attentive, & accommodating. Since we have become regulars, they sit us in our favorite booth each time. They have great suggestions and every single thing I have tasted has been amazing. Our go-to is the tampiqueña. The fajita and portions are exactly what you want them to be. Yum! Prices are great and we also enjoy a margarita of the day, which is perfect - not syrupy like some places. Refreshing, delicious, & comforting! I had the agave combination special and my husband had a fajita burrito. Both were excellent. We liked the refied beans better than the charro. (Both we're good though.) We saw a margarita sampler at another table that was neat. If you are a drinker you get 4 good servings of different colorful flavors. I've had better salsa but that won't stop us from returning for the food. Cheese enchilada were excellent and I was surprised to like the tamale ( normally I don't but this one was good!) Where do I start. Food, so much flavor to the actual meat, not depending on all the sauce or toppings to make up for it. When we have had leftovers to take home, we enjoy it all over again. Margaritas, great price for how good they are, oops don't raise the price please :). More importantly, all of this is served with such a friendly staff. There has only been 1 mistake made and they handled it so graciously that I had them pack it go, paid for it anyways, it's that good. This restaurant would probably b a 3-4 star if located elsewhere; however, in this area it is definitely a five star. There are many Mexican restaurants in the area, most of them are mediocre at best. Don Agave has great service, food is served fresh and hot, and the dishes are delicious. We got the queso and it was like unseasoned velveeta. The sweet tea we got was sour, like DAYS old sour. My friend got the California burrito, it was mostly lettuce and not even rolled. I got the stuffed avocado, the breading was burnt, the "stuffed" portion was basically only where the seed was pulled from and like 90% cheese. The cheese enchilada that came on the plate was so salty it was unreal. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it was subpar. read more

Everything was delicious from the chips and salsa, the Tacos Al Carbon (beef) to the sweet tea. Fajita beef was tender, moist and flavorful as well as plentiful. Rice and beans had very good flavor as well. Very pleased and will return. read more
