Empanadas and a cup of Fidello and a cup of jicama!
Minerva A.

Decided to stop on an early Wednesday afternoon, empanadas were good and the jamaica drink had good flavor! The fideo was good as well! It was simple which when something is good you don't need to complicate it. However, where it was lacking was in service and in temperature. While everyone around us got service and food rapidly, we waited 15 minutes for our one Jamaica drink. And an additional 10 minutes for the fideo to come out lukewarm which was a disappointment because I think it would've made a good meal great.

It was very sweet! A great hole in the Mexican place. My boyfriend and I were driving by the area for pottery, and it was in a little shop right next door. It was around 30 people worth of seating and it was a homey rustic look. Some decorations but extremely cute. I took a picture of the coaster. I ordered the enchiladas verde and the horchata. It was delicious and very authentic tasting. Very different from Tex Mex. For the horchata, we were told we could get as many refills as we wanted! Didn't end up taking up that offer, but what amazing service. Service was fast, and I believe the waiter was the owner! We were seated right by the kitchen and they gave fantastic service.

Wow! We started by ordering a half dozen empanadas: two beef, two chicken and cheese, and two "Dessert" Empanadas de Manzana containing apple , walnuts and raisins. My favorite was the combination of chicken and cheese where the seasoning was forward and just honestly incredible. For the beef they provided a wonderful chimichurri salsa, and it was so good that I found myself eating the leftover chimichurri with my cutlery. We tried the Enchilada Verdes off the regular menu and the Mexican Mom chicken on the weekly menu. They have a limited menu and I think I actually appreciate that. The one side has their empanadas and appetizers and regular dishes, the other side is a "weekly" menu that changes every week so you never know quite what you will find on it. We decided to try the Enchiladas Verdes and the award-winning Mexican Mom chicken. Special mention to the white rice on that plate, moist and flavorful with cheese on top. The chicken sauce had a brilliant flavor profile from the onion and carrots and mushrooms, slightly sweet and a hint of spicy. So this place has a lot of charm and appeal. It is not like a normal restaurant, has a lot of personality. Some of the food was a little spicy for Mr. Picky, but his Horchata drink helped get him through that. The big question was what to order for dessert. We settled on and enjoyed the Chocolate Tres Leches and a special banana dessert not shown on the menu. Overall, a great new find to add to our good restaurants list.

Half of my heart is at Mexican Mom. The food in amazing, I always get the chorizo tacos but everything I've tried is amazing. I always feel like I'm on vacation when I'm here. A slice of heaven. In Ambiance & in taste & in the service.

Absolutely perfect. The food was authentic and tastes so so good. We had the empanadas and the enchiladas. The owners are so friendly and personable. We will be back.

I've heard so many great things about this place from friends and neighbors in the Spring area! It's been on my to-do list for a while now, but with a name like 'Mexican Mom,' I always felt it was a big deal to live up to, considering I'm the son of the most amazing undiscovered chef in Mexico! This past weekend, my wife and I decided to brave the rainy Saturday and go out for brunch. We suddenly recalled the Mexican Mom place everyone has been raving about! As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted by a warm, cozy vibe that instantly reminded me of home. My wife even said it felt like we had just walked into someone's kitchen, ready and waiting for us. My all time favorite dish in my mom's kitchen is Enchiladas, which is exactly what I ordered here. It didn't come out right away, almost like my own mom started cooking it from scratch. The longer wait was well worth the taste! Last weekend, I found myself back in my mom's kitchen for a precious two hours. The warmth of the atmosphere and the delicious food surrounded us, creating a moment of joy that felt so familiar. But just like that, as I stepped out through the doors, it all came to an end. I can hardly wait for the chance to return! If you're in search of that comforting embrace of home-cooked meals, look no further--step inside and let the magic unfold.

Empanadas de Manzana and Chilaquiles

Servings were well portioned and servers were nice! It is a small restaurant but the staff attend to you very quickly. The empanadas were good and the chilaquiles were delicious. Only thing is it was extra to add an egg and chicken on top. Horchata was powdery/chalky.

This place is TOP notch 5 stars!! Mexican Mom & Jaime (dad) are amazing! We celebrated my husband's 50th milestone birthday & they helped make it extra special. The inside is warm & inviting- intimate family atmosphere. All the food from the pico, queso & empanadas are fresh & superb. Everyone's entrees were tasty as well- a HUGE thank you to this establishment for helping us make this a memorable celebration for our family. We simply can not be more pleased.

This place is an absolute gem. Cozy and quiet atmosphere. Only a few tables and great personalized service from the owner. The food is the star though. This is real Mexican food that would be served at family meals. It is not Tex-Mex at all. The thought and care they put into the weekly rotating menu is why we keep going back. Fantastic place!

Great restaurant! The owners are good people and the food is always good. It's also nice in the inside.

Ambiance: Mexican eatery in Spring with a very welcoming ambiance! It truly feels like you've stepped into someone's home for an amazing home cooked meal! The service & quality is very high! Multiple dining area options, some tables feature comfy sofas for an even homier vibe. This is the perfect work day lunch spot, weekend dinner celebration, or for drinks over delicious food. I loved the chicken empanadas - so fun that they are branded. The Sangria was delicious and included cream/sorbet at the bottom for a nice twist on a classic drink. I highly recommend the soup if you are wanting something on the lighter side. Parking onsite. Clean space! Highly recommend this family-owned restaurant!

Mexican Mom has quickly become one of our weekend go-to spots. My husband and I have visited on several occasions, and every time has been a hit. One of the things we love most is that their weekend dishes often change--so there's always something new to try. It keeps the experience exciting, and so far, we've never been disappointed. The flavors are rich, authentic, and clearly made with love--just like something your abuela would make. From traditional favorites to unique weekend specials, everything has tasted fresh and homemade. On top of the amazing food, the customer service is always warm and welcoming. You can really feel the pride they take in what they do. Whether it's your first visit or your fifth, you're treated like family. Highly recommend giving this gem a try--especially on the weekends when the surprise dishes roll out!

Update to respond to the business owner: I appreciate explaining the difference. I am well aware of it, and I did not expect crunchy enchiladas, of course. Your chilaquiles are delicious by the way! Enchiladas do require a light cooking, not to crisp, before filling and rolling. Your enchiladas "felt" like they were microwaved to get them to roll more easily, that sacrifices their texture and can make tortillas soggy with the tomatillo sauce. I do not know if this is your method. Enchiladas should not get soggy. The cooked tortilla (not crispy) will not get soggy unless it is left wet for a long time, but I think this is not your style. The difference is that chilaquiles are fried to crisp. Enchiladas are just cooked in the oil for a brief amount of time before filling and rolling. I understand that everyone makes their enchiladas differently. I see you didn't agree with my review and I am ok with that. Your flavors are amazing! I have been recommending this place as one of the only truly Mexican places where real Mexican food, as opposed to Tex Mex food, is served One previous time, service was terrible because they had a bigger table, so I did not post a negative review, but this time unfortunately I have to. A couple of days ago I was craving their enchiladas. We got there and Mexican Mom's husband greeted us, he is super nice, very friendly. I immediately felt the place is not well air conditioned. There was only one table that could sit all for of us without being so close to the kitchen. We sat there only to realize things got so much worse every time that door opened. Then a waitress came and took our order, also very nice and friendly. Once we ordered, our meal took forever. I know they make every meal there at the moment, but it was still a very long time. The salsa is already made just like the chicken and the cheese. Maybe the tortillas took some time to fry, but when our plate finally arrived I noticed the tortillas were very soggy, I am not sure they were "cooked/fried" or just wetted in the oil. It made the tacos lose their shape and it became a mess on my plate. It didn't taste good. Then the heat coming in because people like to decide if they stay or not there at the door with door opened. This wouldn't be a problem if the AC was more potent for a place like this. The room was even smoking, you could barely see from our table to the kitchen. To Mexican Mom: I understand food can take a long time, but please don't cut corners on how you make your food. Your flavor, tu sazón, tu mano y tu cuidado is why I keep coming back, but those enchiladas were not as great as the first time I tried them. Lastly, summers in Houston are barely bearable, the AC is crucial here, we need a good AC at a good temp, especially eating good Mexican Food. Thank you!

All very good. Had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Highly recommend. Prices on the beverages made water a necessity.

This place has become my most recent go-to when that little voice says - "pssst....Dave....Dave....i know you hear me....you want fajitas." Admittedly, I hear that voice a lot. In any case, I usually order the fajitas. They give you a decent quantity that tastes great. The meet is tender and flavorful and those tortillas had me at hello. I love this stuff! My son elects to go for the cheese enchiladas. I don't have to ask him how much he likes them because is a super picky eater and this is the one place where he actually cleans his plate. The margaritas are solid as well and when you glance around the restaurant, you'll see them on most tables. This place is a well oiled machine. There are plenty of staff and they all work unison to bring drinks / chips / salsa / refills / orders / food -- and that food usually comes out before I can feel guilty for eating chips, salsa, and queso. I found this trick that works for me. Since I 100% of the time feel guilty for leaving the place feeling so full, I started parking on the other end of the parking lot. This allows my to burn off 2.7 calories of the food that just ate so I feel 2.7 percent less guilty. On a serious note - this place is the real deal. While some of my previous favorites have either closed down or gone downhill a bit - Julio's has remained strong. ¡Salud!
