Kick ass Margaritas and Draft Lovestreet.
Liam M.

Great Mexican restaurant, the Margaritas are not for the light hearted, they pack a punch. The staff are always very friendly and service is great. I have never had a bad meal and the salsa rocks, what I love is they have "Lovestreet" on draft, and the price is really reasonable, even better if you catch happy hour. With so many options out there this is my go to Mexican restaurant.

"Home sweet home." "Welcome to the family." "Goodnight John boy." "Sometimes you wanna go..." "Good times..any time you meet a..." "Welcome back..to that same ole place..." This is why you are seeing stars up there for this spot. This was the shock I walked into while just passing by while in search of a new spot. Far back in the strip center sits Los Generales. Do you get it yet? Of course not...so let me explain. On the outside this place looks like the run of the mill Mexican place with absolutely no character. But within seconds of opening the door, your mouth drops. "What the heck just happened? This place looks comfy." It's got a tavern feel and a staff that's like you just walk into a family reunion. And get this ...its not Tex Mex. Yeah I know you may find something on the menu that is but in it's core...it's not. Now let me be honest. The salsa here is not good. Simple as that. It has no flare at all. Neither does the green gaucamole sauce. It needs serious work. But what they have right...is..... Margaritas and Quail!!! YES! Best quail I've had in Houston. They grilled it excellently. If you are a quail fan...this is a place that's worth the drive. And with Jumbo Margarita's at 6.50...its a done deal. You walk in this place you will not want to leave, especially if you sit on the bar side. Its got a real relaxing tavern feel with pretty comfy chairs. Get this ....I was there for 4 hour! Just chilling, sipping and snacking. The fajitas are pretty tasty too. Not the best but definitely worth ordering AND its real beef. Its not that lime taste that I run away from but a beef taste that totally has a great grill flavor. It's kid friendly and non-smoking and the staff is very attentive. I will certainly return on a Saturday just to get away and relax. If you are a Bourbon drinker you must try some of their bourbon infused Margarita's. I thought I was the only one with that idea. Yum, yum, yummy. My only recommendations to management is to pick those giant rita machines off the floor. Just something about that that doesn't sit well with me. Those things where designed to sit on a counter or table to show off and it makes a better presentation for customer to see it twirl. Hiding them is not a good idea and brings to question if its clean. I'm looking forward to more quail! Dont hide and Prosper!

Our most recent visit: Ordered shrimp fajitas (6), they were pretty good - nice and tasty. Service was excellent - came around to double check if we wanted our drinks refilled (diet coke, ice teas)

First time trying this place & everything was perfect! The waiter took very good care of us & the lady (busboy) busing tables, she was very nice & kind even when my 2 year old tried to misbehave before we left. The atmosphere was great, the bathroom is fancy lol The bar area huge & elegant. I just loved this place & the staff members all very kind & patient to their customers. I highly recommend this place!!!! Food was delicious & prices are fair

Famoso Burrito with rice and beans

Going here for an early dinner is the perfect idea to get quick drinks and food. Dinner around 6pm will get you seated immediately, and your food and drinks will come out much quicker than you could imagine. The chips and salsa were decent, but nothing memorable. The frozen margarita was good, but not from enough. My typical standard for a Mexican restaurant is always the sour cream chicken enchiladas...however, they did not have that on that menu. Instead, I went with the Famoso Burrito with chicken, and it was fantastic. The queso on top reminded me a lot of Taco Bueno's queso (which thankfully I enjoy). The refried beans weren't that good, but the Mexican rice was great. Overall, this is definitely a good place for a quick drink and meal, which will be quite tasty all around. I'll definitely be back again next time I'm in the area and craving Mexican food.

Margarita of course....

Stopped here one day after an epic fail at another Mexican Restaurant about a block down the street. I was really just looking for a margarita. Walking in first impression, interesting. To the left is a nice size dinning area and to the right a rather nicely decorated bar area. I was promptly seated and the server was ready for my drink order. Chips and Salsa - You get green and red of course. The red is roasted and served warm and not bad and could use some salt. The green was so so, but I'm not a fan of it period. The chips are just that and adding a little salt won't hurt. On to the beef. I order a standard beef fajitas taco just to try the meat. My order arrives and I dig in. The tortillas are fersh and home made so that's a plus. The fajitas came chopped up but had a good flavor. Then on to the margarita. It came nicely frozen not half watered down like some places. These margaritas have a different flavor from your typical margarita. They have more of a citrus (orange) flavor than lime. So it isn't tart but it is surprisingly D-lish. The service here is wonderful and very friendly. I actually returned for a second visit and this time ordered the fajitas grilled with onions. Now those were amazing. So this spot is going to be on my list to frequent more especially for fajitas. They are reasonably priced and worth every cent.

Margarita, pineapple, watermelon, lemon, lime, salt on the rim!

Really good fried fish or shrimp tacos. Chipotle sauce puts it over the top. Frozen gold margaritas are really good too.

A very good Mexican food place. The food is great, as is the staff. It's in a weird location so you have to look for the sign to find it.

The is a great Tex-Mex restaurant!…read more First of all, they serve Puffy tacos, in the San Antonio style. Few restaurants can prepare these the proper way. There is great QC, AND management, here. Julio's wife, Elena, stopped by the table and checked in the food. She also told us of a wrestling event that was coming up on May 1. She was SO pleasant. Our server, Freddy, got the order in perfectly, even though there were 7 of us. The prices were reasonable. The food again was spot on. We WILL return! BTW, the watermelon margarita was wonderful! In Texas - the Tex-Mex competition is fierce. Everyone has a favorite. This place just bumped my…read moreprevious favorite from its perch and became current favorite. TLDR: Thar food, those ritas. This place has become my most recent go-to when that little voice says - "pssst....Dave....Dave....i know you hear me....you want fajitas." Admittedly, I hear that voice a lot. In any case, I usually order the fajitas. They give you a decent quantity that tastes great. The meet is tender and flavorful and those tortillas had me at hello. I love this stuff! My son elects to go for the cheese enchiladas. I don't have to ask him how much he likes them because is a super picky eater and this is the one place where he actually cleans his plate. The margaritas are solid as well and when you glance around the restaurant, you'll see them on most tables. This place is a well oiled machine. There are plenty of staff and they all work unison to bring drinks / chips / salsa / refills / orders / food -- and that food usually comes out before I can feel guilty for eating chips, salsa, and queso. I found this trick that works for me. Since I 100% of the time feel guilty for leaving the place feeling so full, I started parking on the other end of the parking lot. This allows my to burn off 2.7 calories of the food that just ate so I feel 2.7 percent less guilty. On a serious note - this place is the real deal. While some of my previous favorites have either closed down or gone downhill a bit - Julio's has remained strong. ¡Salud!
