Stopped in for nachos and drinks. The service is excellent and the prices very reasonable. We will be back!

Ordered friend shrimp and oysters with grits and fried okra. Loved the grits and fried okra but the fried shrimp seemed like it was frozen as the crust fell off when I picked it up. It was tasty and I ate it so it was Goode! Also, ordered an iced tea that was fresh and clean tasting so their equipment is well maintained. You can tell if any restaurants do not clean their dispensers as the tea tastes bitter or is milky looking. Why do I know this? You ask? Because my Dad was a coffee/tea delivery man and when I was a child he use to take me on Saturdays to run his route. We visited several Luby's Cafeteria's where he made sure the dispensers were clean and that they were making the tea properly. He showed me how he used the brushes to clean the tubes, dispenser handle and used special cleaning material on the inside. It makes a difference if your tea dispenser is clean... have I convinced you yet? Wow that was a rant! The bottom line is they have great iced tea!

The manager, when he comes over "to apologize" will not actually apologize. And when you mention the other person has finished their meal, they will ask, "oh do you want me to cancel your order then?" No, that's not what i was saying, thanks. And when he brought the correct food, he asked if i wanted a to go box, I said yes and then he never returned. Then the original server dropped the bill, picked it up, and returned the cc and receipts without so much as a word, no "thank you", no "I'm so sorry about all that". Nothing. Like, basically threw it at our table. I really didn't expect a taco salad post lunchtime (1:30pm-3pm) to avoid traffic would have ended up being such a big deal. But apparently it was too much for this Lupe Tortilla. Ps... they did comp the fajita salad they failed to make correctly multiple times... let's just compare that to a Pappasito's who, a few months ago, comped our entire food bill, after some seating snafu... so, looks like Pappasito's is my go to now.

The tacos were on the small side. They have 3 levels of hot. Don't be shy about the hottest (habenero) because it's not terribly hot and imho had a better flavor than the middle heat sauce which is green. Tacos were pretty good as was the horchata. You can choose your meat and toppings although things like guacamole are extra. They had prepackaged chocolate filled empanadas for a buck at checkout counter. They weren't very good. Lots of dough. Not much filling. I think if they could lower the price some I might be back. I do see on the bag they own Don Chuy Tortilleria which we liked on a separate visit there before.

I contemplated leaving, but the place was packed, and that many people couldn't have horrible taste and be congregated in 1place at the same time. So we stayed. The entrees saved the day. The enchiladas Suizas with grilled chicken were amazing!!! Tacos were ok, but the carnitas torta was 'gas', which is good I'm told. The Charro Beans are FANTASTIC!!!!!! I'd order a bucket of them!!!!

I thought the enchiladas were solid, though my wife felt like the queso was too thick and that the chips they served with the queso were a little stale. The service was A+, very attentive and hospitable, which counts for a lot in my book. They brought out a huge statue and bass drum for someone's birthday, which we loved and thought was hilarious. Also, the house marg was excellent and I definitely recommend. Overall, a cool vibe in the restaurant and we will definitely come back. We have some friends coming in from out of town and thought that it might be a good spot to introduce them to TexMex. To be fair, it is my own fault because I tried El Mariachi a year or two ago and thought it was gross then. However, I know everywhere deserves a second chance so I thought I'd give it another try, especially when I saw it had such a high average rating. Let me first say, service is INCREDIBLE. Truly could not ask for better. The hostess was really sweet and she stayed kind even when I could tell she was overwhelmed by all the people. We had multiple servers come by to check on us at various times and do things for us and they were all great too. Absolutely 0 staff complaints. I ordered a watermelon margarita and couldn't drink it. The syrup was completely separated from the actual drink. I left it completely full and while I didn't want to complain, I was surprised that I wasn't asked if it was okay. Had I been asked, I would've told them. My husband thought his house margarita was good, but he did order it frozen and it was already half liquid by the time he got it. The food was not good. I took one bite of my beef taco and pushed it to the side. It was essentially Taco Bell meat. No shade to Taco Bell, but if I wanted that, I would've just gone to T Bell. It sure would've been a lot cheaper. My cheese enchiladas were also not good. I asked to have sour cream sauce on top & was charged $2 for it. I wasn't told I'd be charged extra and didn't see anywhere on the menu where it said that. Even so, $2 for sauce is crazy, but $2 for sauce when the enchilada ALREADY comes with sauce on top and all you had to do was replace it?? Wild. The queso was okay. Not amazing, not bad. It's the only thing I was able to eat. Not my personal experience, but two tables in our same section had issues with their food too and had to send it back. $85 for that is crazy. I'm glad so many seem to enjoy it, but El Mariachi will never see me again.
