Amazing food, tons of choices, and really fast service. Their refried beans and enchiladas are the BOMB!

We went for Cinco De Mayo to their small shop at my work. It's kinda pricey clocking in at $12 for 2 tacos plus an iced tea, advertised as a special for that day to celebrate the 5th. The tacos were on the small side. They have 3 levels of hot. Don't be shy about the hottest (habenero) because it's not terribly hot and imho had a better flavor than the middle heat sauce which is green. Tacos were pretty good as was the horchata. You can choose your meat and toppings although things like guacamole are extra. They had prepackaged chocolate filled empanadas for a buck at checkout counter. They weren't very good. Lots of dough. Not much filling. I think if they could lower the price some I might be back. I do see on the bag they own Don Chuy Tortilleria which we liked on a separate visit there before. read more

Giving 4 stars because things started out iffy. Ordered chips & queso with salsa. Queso is like concession stand nacho cheese from the 80's roller rink concession stand. And neither salsa is good, no flavor at all, just watery juice. Chips were good. I contemplated leaving, but the place was packed, and that many people couldn't have horrible taste and be congregated in 1place at the same time. So we stayed. The entrees saved the day. The enchiladas Suizas with grilled chicken were amazing!!! Tacos were ok, but the carnitas torta was 'gas', which is good I'm told. The Charro Beans are FANTASTIC!!!!!! I visited La Concina de Roberto with plenty suprised by it. I ordered the Caldo De Res whcih was full of flavor and rich broth that I completely finished. My friend ordered the fajita burrito bowl which was equally appetizing to my Caldo. It was full of fresh ingredients that created a perfect bowl especially for a post workout meal. Overrall the food was near perfect being the holy complaint was my beef in my Caldo. Wishing for it to be tender it was rather bland and dry. Such a great place! If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is it! I can safely say this is my Latin husband's favorite place to eat in The Woodlands! Quick great service, and a bright cheery dining area. All of the tacos are excellent! Today the guacamole had no flavor and the carne asada tacos were not as good as they usually are and the service was quick when taking our order but the waitress never came back to refill our drinks or give us our check. 10/10! This Central American restaurant is one of our favorite restaurants!! Forget Tex mex- this is the real deal. We drive 40 minutes just come here and it's well worth it. They have aguas frescas, menudo / Pazole of the weekend, Gorditas with authentic asado queso, and for dessert (listed as a side), order the fried plantains with Greek yogurt. Servers are always very friendly and can help you choose if you are unsure what you want. For ambiance - it's high quality food but a casual environment with very affordable pricing. First time here, and it was delicious. Couldn't decide between quesabirra tacos or street tacos...so I got both Both options were good. The Birria tacos tasted great and the consommé was good as well. I ordered the a la carte tacos. They were BIG. Worth the price. Chips and salsa are extra but the chips were very good and fresh. The service was prompt and friendly. The food came out very fast, which is always nice. The restaurant is small, and has a small bar for 4 people. They are about 75% full tonight, so there was no wait for a table. Great place to pull over for some food to wait out traffic. read more

I may have a bias because I was already obsessed with their original location, but after meeting Roberto at Inspired Leaders way back when (and trying the restaurant's fajitas), I knew Roberto's was going to be a problem for my "diet". I popped into the original location once every few months, bearing the packed gas station parking to grab fajitas, queso, and occasionally a few other items. This location (replacing the coffee shop) offers the same amazing flavors with a few additional perks, the most significant being the pick up window! I tried this baby for the first time today when ordering my lunch at the stop light. I then conveniently picked it up at the pickup window. Everyone was prompt, and polite, and my food was packaged properly, so much so that even 40 minutes later, my food was still warm. The queso and street tacos were as delicious as ever. Was craving posole and thankfully they still had some 11 am. In the past they had run out quick. The waitress was nice and fast. Since we showed up right before their breakfast was ending, the place was packed. We had to wait around 10 minutes for a table. But it was worth the wait because the posole was real yummy. Popped in today to grab some tacos to go since I was in the area. In previous visits they were actually good. But not today, it was not good at all. The white bags they put them in became orange from the grease and started falling apart by the time I got home. The tacos are so greasy, it was literally pouring out of the foil wraps and the tortillas are saturated, they almost looked translucent. I won't be back, the quality of the food today was terrible, it turned me off completely from going back here and I have been to both locations a few times in the last couple of years. This was a delicious unexpected find while driving on the highway through the Woodlands. Had the best vegetarian torta which went beyond the usual accompaniments without the meat by featuring portobello mushrooms. The stir-fried portabello were not too oily. Service was quick enough that I can see this as a popular lunch option in the area. The restaurant was full on a Wednesday even before noon. Prices were reasonable. Parking is somewhat limited, and I think is shared with a granite counter store next door. read more

I ordered this using Uber eats. I contacted the restaurant to let them know that the quesadillas were so oily that I had to throw them away. The manager told the lady on the phone with me that they could not send me something different. (I suggested maybe the chicken quesadilla and let her know how oily their pork was, which is what the pastor is made of) the manager said that they could give me a code for a coupon to get chips and queso. Really? My kitchen was under construction, so that's why I had to order something to be delivered and all they could offer was a coupon for a future purchase. Cute, modern, small-scale Mexican cafe off the I-45 southbound feeder, heading from The Woodlands into Spring. It's easy to miss, once you weave around the usually-chaotic mall traffic making sure to exit before Rayford/Sawdust. Even access to the parking lot is a tight turn... But, once you find the destination you'll likely plot a return. First time dining here, and the food was good. Ingredients were fresh and everything was yummy (some things we liked a little, some we liked A LOT). Service was also prompt and attentive. Establishment was well-kept and had nice lighting & aesthetics. *Worth mentioning: Our favorite item was the Al Pastor Gordita... Now, this isn't your run of the mill Taco Bell so-so Gordita; this is someone's abuela's secret recipe for perfectly grilled cake omg-it-is-amazing sort of Gordita. The masa was soft & puffy enough to melt in your mouth, but thick & dense enough to hold the filling together. SO GOOD! One little turn off: They immediately drop off chips & salsa to your table... but charge you for it. We are so accustomed to this being a complimentary starter to our Mexican/Tex-Mex meals, so this was unexpected (and a little offensive). A better approach would be for the server to ask patrons if they'd like chips & salsa, explaining there's a charge ahead of time, not when they receive the bill. Side note, though, the chips were perfect and both salsas delightful! Worth coming back to try more items in the menu... and definitely ordering more Gorditas! read more

Came here on a Friday for dinner and drinks. I had the shrimp tacos and my sister had the fish tacos and we both loved them! The portions are a good size too. The cocktails were great also, and strong. The place is kind of small, but it wasn't busy, surprisingly, and there was plenty of seating. The only downside is that the chips and salsa are not complimentary. But, other than that, I would recommend and definitely would like to come back. read more

Came to try this place out for lunch and it was average on my take. This place does not offer a lunch menu so just a heads up. To start we had to order chips and salsa which is $5 and not complimentary which was a shocker for a Mexican restaurant. They serve the salsa in bottle versus in a bowl which is not my type and def lost points because of it. We ordered the enchilada suizas which were actually very good! Definitely recommend the enchiladas and the platter I ordered was grilled chicken a la mexicana which comes sautéed in onions, jalapeños, and tomatoes. It was very good! The rice and beans were ok nothing to rave about just standard. And the tortillas are not homemade which is ok but we all know handmade tortillas give it a twist! Prices are average in todays market and I have attached the menu for your review and current. The only con I have for the place is the chips and salsa which yea but other than that the food is good! La Cocina was good but not great. Our service was nice and our food came to us quickly after we ordered. Nothing was downright bad, but there are some things they can improve on. My frozen strawberry margarita came to me half melted and tasted more like juice then a good balance of lime, tequila, and strawberry purée. The crispy taco beef was bland and a little dry. The refried beans were nice and smooth and had great flavor. The rice left a lot to be desired. It was dry and flavorless. My wife ordered the a la carte chicken tacos which were delicious. The thing that really bothered me was the pricing. I felt like we were being nickled and dimed. We spent $75 on lunch for 2 people. There was a charge for everything. Jalapeños $1.20 sour cream $2 the strawberry purée in the margarita was an additional $2. All of the little charges that are usually included in items you order at other Mexican restaurants. read more

This is our go to local Mexican food spot. The food is always fresh right down to the chips and salsa. There isn't a bad thing on the menu but our favorite are the barria and shredded chicken dishes. The shrimp tacos are divine. I love that you can pick an item and choose your protein to create what you want. The service is always prompt and has only been a bit slow when the restaurant is packed with a wait (weekend evenings) but nothing to worry about if you're not in a rush. The owner is always on premises and they genuinely seem to want you to love your meal. There is a charge for the chips and salsa which we gladly pay as they bring you your own personal bottles and refill chips at will. I can't say enough about this establishment. I absolutely love this place. The food is scratch made and there are no wrong options on the menu. That said, the Street Tacos are excellent, as are the Suiza Enchiladas, and the Fajita Burrito Bowl! Definitely get chips and guacamole. The salsas are all amazing and made from scratch. My favorite is the Habanero! For a drink, and I can't recommend this enough, the Mango Margarita is one of the best drinks I've ever had. In fact, I'm craving one right now ... it's that good. It's not even noon yet, people, and I would drink one right now. With Tajin on the rim, thank you very much! Casual and comfortable ambience, great service, excellent food. You can't go wrong. We sat in a torn up booth, it, took forever to get our food and when we got it, it was tasteless. We ordered the world famous cheese, and it was basically Cisco cheese melted in a bowl. We had to add some pico de gallo to it to make it even edible I do not recommend this restaurant. It should not even be open any longer. read more

This is our first time to visit this new location on I-45. The same great food and great service. The main reason I come is for their pozole and apparently I am not the only one that enjoys it because they were out. However, Senor Roberto came by to apologize and offered to give me a small bowl of what they had left. He said it didn't have as much meat as they normally serve but if I wanted, I was welcome to it. Of course I accepted his offer. Did I mention they have great service. I also ordered the street tacos. Shredded chicken and al pastor. They were also very good. My husband ordered the menudo which he always enjoys here and he's pretty picky about his menudo. So overall, FIVE STARS! We are so happy that now we have two locations to choose from. read more

Came in once for an early dinner and a late lunch. Both times, they were pretty busy so plan accordingly. Definitely has Tex-Mex items but I believe some of the items are authentic Mexican as well. Caldo de Res ($12.99) Beef and vegetable soup served with a side of rice. The beef is pretty soft and you can tell it's been cooked for a while in the broth. It could be a liiiiiiittle softer but that's just me personally. Beef comes with some cartilage portions which I like (as a contrast to the soft beef texture). Broth itself is super clean and slightly resembles a pho broth. The rice that the soup comes with is pretty good as well. Would order again. Super Texas Burrito ($11.99) Big burrito with meat of your choice, beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, avocado, and cheese. Pretty good. Wouldn't say it beats La Taqueria or El Farolito in SF but still good. Enchiladas Suizas ($10.99) 3 shredded chicken enchiladas with green tomatillo salsa, cheese, and sour cream. Comes with rice and beans. The green salsa is tart and the melted cheese provides the creaminess. The dish works really well together and is one of the better Tex-Mex dishes I have had in the area. Have gotten this multiple times. The beans are pretty good. They do not make me feel like I am eating canned refried beans. All in all, one of the better locations for Tex Mex. I do wish they had other menu items, maybe like a mole. Will definitely be coming back again at some point. read more
