First, this is the best El Bosque. I've been to this one, the one in Conroe and the one in Montgomery, but this one is special. It's one of the best Tex-Mexican restaurants in the Conroe area. Very disappointed with the hostess at the front who was wearing a purple shirt. She came across as extremely rude and arrogant when speaking to me. There was no reason for the attitude, and she could have communicated the exact same information in a much nicer and more respectful way. Every time I'm in Montgomery, I head to El Bosque. The service is so excellent, the atmosphere is welcoming and the food just melts my heart! The shrimp tacos are a particular with plump juicy shrimp. I love their Charo beans, and I always ask for green sauce, which is outstanding. My sister loves their taco salad with fajita meat. After eating at nearly every Mexican restaurant in the area more than once, I can attest to El Bosque being the most consistent, and the most flavorful. The prices are a little higher for similar dishes at other Mexican restaurants in the area, but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend the enchiladas. read more

Ordered through door dash Cheese enchiladas were tasteless, very small portion of everything. Tortillas had not even been warned or cooked. Very poor quality. My taco salad was very over cooked meat. This place was disgusting! First, they got my order completely wrong. I thought it's ok, I will just go ahead and eat it. I visited the newest location in Montgomery yesterday. The food was good, the staff stayed right on top of things. However, after being presented with my check I saw the food and liquor sales had the tax separated. I had 1 beer, the sales tax was billed at the subtotal amount even tho the receipt specified no Liquor tax. They charged sales tax on the other beer. read more

My husband went to El Bosque with friends and enjoyed the food and service (apparently the friend who organized the event is a regular patron). He was excited to take our family back there but the experience was completely different. When we arrived he mentioned to the owner that he has been there with his good friend (mentioning his friend by name) and the owner could not have been less interested. Only three other tables were occupied (Thursday night at 7:00) which I guess should have told us something. Despite the small number of patrons our food took a long time. One family member ordered tamales which arrived cold and dried out. Another ordered chile rellenos with fajita chicken, only to discover a large piece of plastic inside the pepper! When we mentioned it to the waiter he just shrugged. No apologies. We asked him to take it off our bill and he did. We ended up having a very good dinner at another restaurant. Definitely will not be going back. By the way -- the restaurant smells like people have been smoking there. Ugh. read more

I like El Bosque for local Mexican food. The chips and queso come with a bowl full of jalapeño's. It's a good quality queso too. The beef enchiladas are really good as well. I was visiting Texas from another state a few years back and my daughter took me to El Bosque for dinner. I was so impressed as I felt at home, everything was outstanding, the food and service. However, I visited the restaurant on Saturday (11/20) and was insulted by the poor quality of food. Previously, everything was fresh, the beans were top notch and, oh man, the guacamole was superb. It had lots of avocado chunks blended in perfectly with the spices and vegetables. My enchilada had the best grade of cheese steaming from the shell, not too much but just enough to blend with the tasty red-brown gravy. This is how it was three years ago! *This time I ordered cheese enchilada and a taco. I was shocked to see a stale taco shell that came from a box on my plate. You know the crunchy ones you buy from the market? Every Mexican restaurant I've eaten at had a tortilla bar where it was made fresh. The taco would have a fresh fried hot shell tasting suburb, not a cold stale crunchy shell. This time, I didn't see a chunks of avocado in the so-called guacamole on the plate with the stale taco. It looked so disgusting I didn't touch any of it! I wasted money! *I was insulted and in disbelieve that a restaurant would serve a store-bought taco shell. Also, the chips that were served as an appetizer, tasted stale and were not freshly made at the restaurant. So, they were not steaming hot!! They could have been left over from the previous evening or purchased from the market! The cheese on the enchilada tasted like Velveeta cheese....it had a flat process cheese flavor that seemed out of place as that cheese is generally not used in preparing Mexican food. It was definitely the worse enchilada I've ever tasted. There was no pride in the food prep. They definitely took shortcuts for a profit! Or maybe the cook was drunk! There was no wow factor or ingenuity! *I can cook better Mexican food at home with my eyes closed, using fresh ingredients. The cook or chef should have been ashamed! Salsa: Red served heated warm, green served cold - it is a creamy tomatillo/cilantro style. Both fresh and yummy. Lunch prices a little high ($6.50 to $8.75), but they had a $6.95 special that was very good (combo fajitas this day)... and the free chips/salsa. My fajitas special was very good, plenty of veggies on the plate, fresh. Beans flavorful (bacon) and fresh. Rice decent, moist. iced tea good, both sweet tea and unsweetened available. service was excellent. I was here a while working on my laptop and was never ignored or neglected. WiFi available as a dlink router that seems to be theirs. As seems convention in the area, smoking is allowed in the bars. read more

ALL the reviews on Yelp for mexican food places in Conroe are garbage! There are alot of really horrible Mexican food places in Conroe. This is the ONLY place worth going to. This location is the best Mexican food in the area and I was never one to move from 7 leguas but after 7 leguas switching up the quality of their food to beyond edible we went here and never looked back. In the past 2 years there has been very few times we have had issues, sometimes the steak is a little crispy but they are always willing to remake and happily do so. The steak fajitas had GREAT flavor seriously! Awhile back it seems they upped the prices to get more quality food on the menu and it was worth it. It also seems like they have an actual chef most days other days just a regular cook but it's still very good! Only complaint I had was my charro bean soup was most certainly past its reheat date and tasted very sour which kinda worried me. The last time we went in, they'd raised all their prices by $2 or more per item, to add insult to injury they served us several items that were still frozen. When we addressed this, they microwaved them and brought them back on a plate all droopy, soft, and liquidy. Disgusting. After this, the waiter we had was extremely rude and dismissive. We were on our way home and decided to try them out. All employees seem to be friendly guys, however that wasn't the problem, there were five of us in our party. Most of us had the Taco Beef Carbon and the other had a Chicken Burritos, Everything was fine until about two hours later when we all felt like we been hit in our stomachs.
