The burger was so juicy and the tots were extra crispy! The ambiance was great as well. Gave off diner vibes with old metal signs everywhere. The restrooms were clean as well. I asked about the catfish being authentic and indeed it is not. Places selling catfish should really disclose if it is catfish or Swai. I was served Swai. The hush puppies served on the platter was more than done. See the picture. The food runner switched the burgers up and did not give them to the correct person. We arrived at 8:45 and they told us they close at 9:00pm. The door had Friday and Saturday hours deleted. Yelp says it closes at 10:00pm on Fridays. The cashier's attitude was terrible, had a smile on her face but the look of annoyance. She said the kitchen closes at 9:00pm so we quickly ordered. It took about 20 minutes for the food to be ready and all that time they were cleaning around us. They were using a nasty smelling mop next to us, we ate with the smell of dirty restrooms because of that mop, picking up chairs and just mad that we were still there. Food was not that great either. I ordered chicken tenders, they were the frozen kind, some of the sweet potatoes were burnt and all were dry. The place looks dirty and dusty, it has retro decoration that looks forgotten. Drove by and noticed it on my way to my Air BnB. I was greeted with smiles. David suggested their Philly cheese steak as one of the best. My daughter and I decided to split a burger and ordered sweet potato fries and deep fried mushrooms. I was pleased and impressed that they took the time to split our order in the kitchen before they brought it to the table. I always forget about this place, probably haven't eaten here in about 15 years. Saw a Facebook post that they may have to close due to lack of business so me and my family came in. I don't want to see a small business that's been serving the community for so long go away. It's not very far off of the interstate and a strip center, which is probably why it gets missed a lot. Everything was cooked fresh and delicious, I recommend getting the jalapeño sourdough bun instead of the regular bun and also the brisket eggrolls. On top of the food being fresh and delicious the vibe inside is awesome, old school diner feel, and the people are super friendly. Summary: Decent place that feels like a hidden gem and that no one knows quite yet of it but I just don't know why. Food: There is an actually good selection of options for people including Keto friendly. I wouldn't say this place is what you would consider healthy however it is good modest food, American style. Parking: Strip Mall style with lot sof vacant places so no issues. Atmosphere: Soda jerk, 50s style, with a wall of hot sauce randomly but hey its Texas. Value: This the value here is really good this is where this plays shines. The food comes to you in very modest food baskets added Styrofoam cups. I love the 1960's diner theme of this local restaurant. For a burger spot I was surprised they served breakfast. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with an addition of sausage. The order was brought to the table and I planned to salt and pepper it up which is typical for restaurant white gravy. I took a bite and realized this was not necessary. It had excellent flavor and the sausage I added was delicious. The manager came by my the table and let me know that all ingredients are served fresh, nothing is frozen. Went tonight for the 1st time after hearing on facebook about this place... Let's start with the good... flavor of the burgers is outstanding! Really enjoyed our burgers. However, place smelled like a dirty mop when we entered and place just felt kinda dirty and sticky. Still, we went to the counter and made our order and sat down waiting for our food. Waited about 15 minutes for the food, which wasn't too bad. Right before the food came, I decided to take a look at the receipt and noticed everything had been charged more than what the menu stated! Every single item we ordered! When the food came, I asked about it and the lady immediately said it was above her pay grade. So I asked for a manager and she said there isn't one. She then said I could come back at 9am next day to talk with the manager. Really? No manager on duty? Not buying it. All that said, we left very disappointed. We had hoped to find a new local spot we could have our Friday evening family meals at, but unfortunately, we won't be returning to a place who steals from their customers and then excuses it with a lame excuse that no manager was on duty. read more
