Tonight, 3/5/26, we revisited The Red Brick Tavern, in Conroe for dinner. We walked in to some local talent on stage belting out song after song. At some point, we lost count on the songs, as one blended into another and each sounded just like the one before it. Hey, it was Thursday and he was a local putting himself out there for us to listen to. It's nice to have live entertainment during dinner and the background music was just background enough. Our seats were near the bar at the high top tables that gave a commanding view of the stage and bar area. The place was crowded for a Thursday night, filled with regulars enjoying the food and ambiance this century old building exudes in spades. Much like the breakfast menu we enjoyed a few weeks ago, our meals were almost identical. We both enjoyed the Reuben sandwich for our dinner. I personally wished it had more kraut, but the corned beef was tender and flavorful. I had added the sweet potato fried and we shared the cheesy fries as an appetizer. Cheesy fries do not do it justice. They were coated with more than enough cheese, accented with chopped onions and other herbs that added flavor and texture. Our waitress was wonderful and explained anything we had a question about during our meal order. I had an amber beer with dinner that really accented the reuben nicely. All in all, the dinner service was as enjoyable as our venture in there for breakfast. Their pistachio encrusted white chicken breast signature dish is to die for! My husband tried the meatloaf today and it was a mile high pile of deliciousness. We also tried the boudin balls and the crab cakes for the first time and they were both fabulous. We came last night for my son's birthday dinner. I have been here so many times and have never been disappointed. We had the Greek pizza which was delicious. My daughter had the chicken Alfredo, she didn't like it. She said the chicken was dry. My son had the pistachio chicken which he really loved. His dad had the salmon and loved it. I had the meatloaf which has always been a good choice. It was a little different than I remember though. It was very mid last night. Overall the service was good with our server Kate. Was an odd choice to hit up a tavern for breakfast - but how many taverns even serve breakfast?! Walking through the door and you're met by authentic tavern vibes. Warm lighting, music, high top and regular tables. We were the only customers for about 25 minutes so we got to assist with a new hire training which is always fun! Was glad to help out. So we got LOTS of attention from servers during our visit. The food was A S T O U N D I N G!!!! From the first bite of cornbread to the last nibble of the migas {spouse had the corned beef hash} every mouthful was exceptional. I lived in The Woodlands growing up and my parents used to drive to Conroe almost weekly to go to the Red Brick Tavern for their Drunken French Onion Soup! I was only able to go with them once, but it stuck in my head as a fun place with great soup. Now, almost 10 years later... I made sure to make a stop once I was finally back in Conroe and they still matched my expectations. I ordered a breakfast platter with eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast and then shared a soup with my friend (they also had the avocado toast). The food was delicious and I ate every last bite! The music is a tad bit loud here when sitting at the front (we were in a small booth as we needed 4 seats) but still I liked the cute little tavern vibe. The service was pretty good overall and they were also packed while we were there. This place is definitely worth visiting! read more

Stopped into Red Brick Tavern one evening for a bite to eat and beer. Heard that they had good food but it was very small. Yes, Red Brick was a very tiny little tavern but very quaint and comfy. They had live music that night we went in which we enjoy but in such a small place the music took over everything. And this was just one guy and guitar. One needs to adjust the volume to the size of the venue. My wife and I each ordered the French Onion Soup which we had heard was good. It was indeed delicious as it is very hard to find a good French Onion Soup. After soup, we ordered a the Memphis pizza with BBQ sauce, chicken and mozzarella cheese. This was a really delicious thin crust pizza and we really enjoyed it. We also ordered a beer to go with our meal. The choices were find if you like domestic beer, but we prefer craft beer and the choices were rather limited and lacked any stouts which would have gone great with our meal. The service though was outstanding as our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Over all, Red Brick was a good experience, we really enjoyed our food and pub like atmosphere that they presented but were a little overwhelmed by the volume of the live music when you are trying to converse with your waitress or others in your party. read more

This place has amazing food. Sometimes management is a little dismissive and arrogant, but, they are probably the best restaurant in central Conroe. I haven't found a restaurant more consistently awesome than Red Brick. My major issue is that the building is too small. Unless you show up at 5:00 you can forget getting a table most nights. If you live in Conroe, this is a bucket list destination for sure. I don't drink, but they have a good selection of local and regional craft beers. They have live music from well known Texas artists. I haven't been there for that, but I'm sure it's worth the trip. This place has been legendary around here for a while, so get in while you can. read more

This time we split the (romaine) wedge salad - big enough for tow as starters or add your choice of protein and you have a full meal. Deviled eggs weren't much to write home about, but aren't the worst we've had, either (the random piece of cicerone's on top was just... random) Hubs ordered the meatloaf and we went for the grilled chicken sandwich sans-bread. Y'all. That meatloaf is A LOAF. It was a HUGE slice, mouthwatering my good, moist in just the right ways. This meatloaf brings all the boys to the yard, damn right, it's better than yours. Early dinner close to Mom's assisted care home in River Plantation area. From AR, we'd never been to historic Conroe (always out in Montgomery Lake Conroe area). Great location. Great atmosphere. Great server (sorry receipt got wet - ....ie P.) Our entrees were excellent. And we didn't have to wait long. This is our first time here and really enjoy the environment. It is a happy place on a Saturday night. I tried the pistachio crusted chicken and it was good but just needed a little more flavor. The sauce although it had sun dried tomatoes and capers it was lacking in seasoning. My hubby had the Penne Pasta with Italian sausage and he loved it. The waitress was outstanding and attentive. I brought 23 hungry seniors after the Crighton Theatre matinee on Sunday. What a charming out-of-the-way restaurant! The menu choices were extensive considering the small area of the place, but our Forever Young Seniors managed to find lots of variety, and there were many takeaway containers! Sometimes you find the most incredible food in the most inconspicuous of places...case in point the Red Brick Tavern in Conroe, TX. After strolling downtown Conroe I was hungry and came across the Red Brick Tavern and sat at the bar. Very interesting décor...pictures of music stars along with well over a hundred hanging beer taps of kegs emptied over the years. The Bar Manager Mark and Tyrone got me set up with a St Willie's Abby Blonde Ale from Stesti Brewery in Lovelady, TX...great beer and the added malts gives it an incredible body. Mark explained to me the kitchen is a "scratch kitchen" and everything is made fresh daily. I decided on the Bacon Fried Gulf Oysters and the Brick Oven Half Roasted Chicken. The oysters are the absolute best cooked oysters I've ever had...light bacon flavor, great crust, and the Horseradish Dijon was a great complement! The chicken was fall off the bone tender and lightly seasoned and the BBQ sauce was a great companion to the chicken. The mashed potatoes are delicious and I added my leftover Horseradish Dijon to the mashed potatoes...this should be offered with the potatoes. We were on vacation and came across this place for dinner. We go in get seated sweet lady comes and takes our drink order and then someone comes and says " Did your waitress tell you about the show tonight?" We said no she asked if we had tickets we said no and she said "Ok you will need to be out of here by 8/815" mind you we just ordered drinks and we really wanted dinner and it was almost 720 at this time (there were no signs stating must have ticket to be here) We chanced it ordered a pizza very blan you could tell they rushed it, my old fashioned was way too orangey.
