I've always passed by Mia's on my way into graces but never had the pleasure of dining in until now. I really enjoyed my experience and meal! The staff was friendly and attentive. The location was spacious and clean. My chicken fried steak was crispy and well seasoned! I enjoyed my sides as well. I will absolutely be back!

His fried shrimp platter. He liked it. Good Fried Shrimp is a secret to his happiness.

So I've been on a hunt for good southern fried chicken in Houston. As part of that process, we ended up here and, even though it's one of a chain, decided to try it because a friend recommended it. We're actually very happy we came. I liked the bone-in fried chicken (with all of the lab-grown chicken and meat nowadays, I want to SEE that bone in the pieces of my chicken). I asked the lady at the counter what sides she liked the best in the restaurant and she mentioned creamed corn and the mashed potatoes, so I ordered those. I've got to tell you that I really liked both as the mashed potatoes had a lot of seasoning and flavor, and the creamed corn was sweet and a tiny little bit spicy, both really quite delicious. His coleslaw had a fresh and not goopy-textured sauce, liked it. We were so happy with our main meals that we decided to try dessert items, consisting of a shared brownie and banana pudding. We didn't love the brownie but mutually enjoyed the banana pudding. The staff here were all really nice and polite and helpful, and the next time we're nearby we will definitely want to eat here again.

Had the meatloaf this go around, wasn't impressed. This is my least favorite thing I've ever had here but that's okay everything else has been delicious. Service was excellent and the atmosphere is always nice and considering the amount of people there it wasn't too loud.

Clean establishment. Friendly wait staff. Variety menu. Ordered the turkey burger and was skeptical at first since never had cranberry sauce on a burger or goat cheese, however they highly recommended it. And it did not disappoint. The flavor blend was perfect and I enjoyed the whole thing! The sweet potato fries had the perfect crisp and were delish and my spouse loved his chicken fried steak. Overall, I recommend checking out this spot for a good eat with a sweet savory treat at the end! They give you free soft serve after you enjoy your meal. Bon ape'treat!

Delicious 5+ Stars, A++, and a double of applause. This was my first time but shonuff not my last time. I didn't know this restaurant was serving food like this! Fresh, hot, seasoned well, and good. My Hubs had the bison burger. I had the chicken fried chicken and I normally don't eat the white gravy but this here, I did and it was very creamy. The sweet tea was on point to the right degree of sweetness.

This is what is left of the chicken tortilla soup and taco salad. Other diner thought it was good!
Elizabeth ..

Chicken fried steak looked great on menu, but was disappointing because it was unappetizing served cold with cold green beans and mashed potatoes! No one checked to see why I was not eating what I was served, even when we asked for to go boxes. My friend had a taco salad and chicken tortious soup that she said was very tasty. The waiter never came back to check how the food was and passed us many times without stopping to inquire why the whole steak was still on my plate. This one large room with adjoining back room, restaurant near I45 is very popular and was packed when we arrived and when we left. Nothing stood out as delicious! Or outstanding. Customers must order first, grab cutlery and napkins and then find a table, Orders are delivered to tables.

This is a very casual restaurant. You order at the counter then your food is brought to you. They offer beer, both draft and can/bottle, wine that you buy by the small bottle but they do give you a wine glass to pour into, and frozen margaritas, two flavors. The employees taking orders were friendly and helpful. I had a Modelo draft plus we ordered the trio which had onion rings, fried pickles and delicious wings. For dinner I chose the shrimp and fish which had a great flavor. Even the tartar sauce and red sauce were good. It came with coleslaw which had a slightly sweet taste along with onion rings and french fries cooked perfectly! Great place for casual dining with home cooking.

Southern Fried Chicken, Mac-N-Cheese, Creamed Corn

Loved the sit down restaurant, family vibes this place offers! Lots of southern comfort food to choose from. The mac and cheese was delicious, not your ordinary kraft mac! I came for the onion rings and they were amazing, very crunchy. Queso was a good classic queso. The breading on my chicken was very flavorful and SO crunchy. Definitely coming by again to try a burger! The cashier was helpful in choosing a side for my father's entree. No one came by after dropping off the food but I was able to get a busser to grab some ranch for me!

Chicken fried chicken meal w/ drink $19 Remember the lion always eats those salad eating gazelles.

Good friendly Service and a nice clean restaurant. Ok ... food wise ~ the chicken fried steak was dry. The potatoes lacked flavor, and the cream corn was just fair. But I thought the buttered Texas toast was tasty. Ok, for that meal, with water, tax, and no tip you're looking at $20. Would I come back for this meal. Probably not. Bon Appetite.

Onions rings which were $3 extra.
Jennifer S.

The burger was good, as were the onion rings. But it really seems overpriced for what you get. It's a walk up and order place, with self service drinks. IMO, the shouldn't be asking for tips at this restaurant.

We ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and then the baby back ribs with baked beans and creamed corn. I got greedy and added two pulled pork tacos with chips and queso because the hubby was paying and I love pulled pork tacos!! They give you a cup and you can drink all of the fountain drinks and lemonade that you can gulp down!! They make fantastic milk shakes and there's a soft serve ice cream bar! This food is so good!! Hurry up and get over there!

Weather was good so opted to eat on their empty patio. I was told that the Carolina shrimp and grits were out of this world. So i got that. Saw their chicken fried steak was American wagyu and won some award. So my kid got that. For the 2 Sides that come with the steak my kid chose mashed potatoes and gravy and regular mac and cheese. Yawn. Sooo Boring. They actually have a bacon and jalepeno version of the Mac and cheese that sounded pretty tasty but my kid just can't handle spice sadly. Reminds me of those peeps ordering vanilla ice cream at Baskin Robbin's 31 flavors when I worked there. I mean, 31 flavors. Ya can't even do French vanilla? Sheesh. The batter on the steak separated from the meat quite easily which made it a bit difficult to eat. But who cares when it tastes that good. Size was impressive - like the size of my face. Loved the white gravy that comes with it. And I gotta admit the ordinary Mac and Cheese was pretty darn cheesy. Now the raffle winner announcer had mentioned this place has awesome shrimp and grits. I had read mixed reviews about the shrimp and grits. And on top of that I'm not much of a grits guy. But I had to try it, just for ya'll, cuz that's what us AllStars do. I gotta agree with many of the online reviewers that the taste of the grits in of themselves is kinda bland as has been my experience with every grits dish I've ever had. Which is why I don't like grits in the first place. And ya know what, there's a whole lot of grits on this plate. Like a big ol' mound of it. Like the Close Encounters mashed potatoes scene. So big in fact that they don't even bother giving you any sides with this and only this particular entree. Texture kinda reminded me of my kid's mashed potatoes. But I did like the other parts of the dish like the shrimp and sausage and even the sauce. So you just really gotta plan each spoonful of this dish, to make sure you get at least some of the topping or sauce with each and every bite of grits. Otherwise the blandness of the grits can overwhelm. For desert we got the banana pudding. My kid is in this banana phase right now. It's like bringing a Minion around with me wherever I eat. Like grits, I've never been a huge banana fan. But I gotta say, this dessert was pretty tasty. And it came in a small tub which impressed. Staff and ambience were wonderful. And they're selling gift cards right now like most restaurants. Would definitely come back someday even without a gift card.

We were told by the friendly hostess that the wait for a table would be about 30-40 minutes. So I sat and waited for the rest of my party to arrive. The wait only ended up being 15 minutes (good thing I didn't leave) My table was close to the front entrance and a huge party (that should have just reserved a private room if you ask me) I felt like I was a wedding crasher. The waiters were busy trying to accommodate everyone by moving tables around and I had strangers standing all around me waiting for their table to be set. So that wasn't enjoyable for me. I ordered an appetizer some wine and our entrees all came out delicious and our waiter was sweet but I won't be rushing back on a busy Saturday night!

I needed to wake up because friend who hadn't arrived yet and I were going to see The Monkey at the cinema up the street from Mahoney's. Order an Espresso Martini, nothing notably special, it was mixed well and finished it in what seemed like 2 sips. I was a bit hungry and ordered the Texas Egg Rolls made with chicken, black beans, corn, red bell pepper, pepper jack cheese and a side dipping sauce. They come with 6, 2 bites and done size. These reminded me of the egg rolls from Chili's. They arrived warm and if flavor was fine. I'd get them again. My friend arrives but by this time the area we were in got CROWDED. It seemed there was only one bartender handling both the patrons at the bar and groups at the tables. It took about 15 minutes after my friend arrived to place a beer order. I was trying to order it for him before he arrived but didn't have any success as the bartender stayed mostly on one side of where I was sitting and didn't look up during his time filling orders. Eventually, we are able to order a second round and closed out. Aside from the service being a bit off, and likely due to unexpected being busy, my past experiences have been enjoyable, that's why I chose to come here pre-movie going. Highly recommend their brunch. I wish I lived in the area I'd do brunch here often, they have BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS Saturday & Sunday!

I had never been to the previous address, but the interior design was so lovely we chose to sit at the new bar. She kept the chips (touch of louisiana we enjoyed) next to her for refills and made the most twisted hurricane I've had. Definitely walked out clinging to my man lol. I ordered the lobster ravioli with a side of hush puppies and my old guy ordered the lamb chops, well done, with gumbo (we don't eat pork) and stuffed shrimp. Everything was so damn great tasting. And unlike many other places, they said this bar only allows 21 and older to dine in the bar area, which means only the outside for us. This being a cold (because of the wind) and cloudy morning. Sigh. Asked for a kids menu and was told it's only for 12 and under. Got the evil eye from the hostess when I said my kid qualifies. Then I offered to show them her ID and they backed off with smiles even. The complementary potato chips kind of tasted like Chips Oman. At least they weren't stale and it's a nice addition while you wait. The kiddo got the kids catfish which was just a pretty small piece of fish. Fries were good. Side fruit consisted of strawberries pineapple and red grapes. No drink included. Had to chase down the staff to get some tartar sauce. I wanted a Po Boy but was told they don't offer it on the weekends. Asked about beignets and was told it's only for dessert. Sigh. Decided to get the pork ribeye fricassee. The flavor was good but boy was it salty. Almost like they dropped a whole shaker of salt on it. Good thing there was some rice to counter the effect. Otherwise it would be inedible. So after our meal we had access to the desert menu and got a half order of beignets (4 pieces). They were ok. The dough on these is pretty thick though. Not sure if that's standard but I'd prefer light and fluffy. Soft opening was just the day before. So I think they're trying to find their stride. Water girl was on it though so kudos to her. Waiter was meh. Had to go in and fetch him a few times as they don't come outside much, especially when you're the only one out there. The bar area is small but the bartenders are nice. They have a sectioned off room in the back which might be good for a larger group. Place is kinda small overall though.
