We popped in to the Cook Shack today and we were completely blown away! The food, the service, the ambiance...everything was top notch! We tried the sleezy, the waffles, and just the good ole fashioned tenders and the four of us were stuffed and so happy by the end of the meal. I was checked on twice - once by someone who looked like a manager, and another who appeared to be a chef. My food was clearly cooked fresh and came out relatively fast. The restaurant was sparkling clean from the bathroom to the table and the staff were all friendly. I order chicken and waffles every time it's on the menu and I will say this is probably a top three for me. The chicken strips are huge and the waffle is textbook. Could've used a sprinkle of salt, but still an A+. Furthermore, I truly don't remember the last time I couldn't finish a meal, but this one made me tap. The first couple of times I went the tenders were huge or large and always delicious. The last two times I was shocked with the mini tenders looking more like chicken nuggets. I don't like the uncertainty on whether or not I will get a decent size tender, not to mention it makes me second guess if I want to buy an extra one since I don't know what size it will be. The chicken ceasar salad wrap had a very good flavor and was huge BUT I'm pretty sure they cut up in mini sizes one very small tender for the huge wrap bc there was barely any chicken which was a huge disappointment!! It backs up to the Academy parking lot, so there's plenty of parking. It's a casual eating environment- great for families or get togethers. There's also a bar & a patio. My wife ordered ribs and a side of fries and my youngest ordered chicken strips with mac-n-cheese as a side. My oldest ordered some kind of salad but instead of lettuce it was mac-n-cheese. It had chicken strips in it. He went to order it AMF and the girl reached for a waiver (what?!) so I told him to dial it back. He ended up medium heat (zero heat IMO). I went to order the ribs and tenders combo. Got the tenders AMF and the ribs Texas Heat. The side was Dragon Fries. Good flavor to everything. The Dragon Fries weren't hot at all but it was a good flavor. The ribs weren't hot at all. I tasted mite sweet than heat (and it was supposed to be hot as it was one step below AMF). Disappointing. The strips AMF were actually hot. Certainly not hot enough to sign a waiver, but it did check the boxes for heat. An initial loss of voice, watering eyes and nose, and my lips absolutely on . I ordered 5 meals on DoorDash for pick up. Specified side sauces for each meal as well. The chicken was definitely fried frozen. I absolutely hate when people do that.
